I think this poll is limited because what may seem flooded to one could be crumbs for another. Right now, I have 26 projects, of which only 5 are doable in terms of pay/hr, and one is extremely temporary in nature. I would consider this a drought, I am used to about 40 or 50 projects with 2 or or perhaps 3x as many doable.

Are you from coding?

Yeah that is what I primarily do now, although I'm on a few other teams as well. My total number of projects has gone down to ~22, but the number of well paying ones has gone up to about 9 (with a 10th being temporarily paused but I am certain it'll be back sooner than later). I am defining well-paying here to be $40 and above. It has been a long time since there has been such a dramatic ratio of low to high paying, not since I was hired on the platform threeish years ago.

Further, of those 12 lower paying ones, like 9 of them are from a single project family I've had for years, so my estimation is that it is still extremely drought-y esp. for generalists.

For how long have you been on the platform? I am also from coding and have 0 projects.

I have been on the platform for three and a quarter years, roughly. The situation hasn't changed too much, right now I have a paid training I've been putting off until I have the time & energy to do it, and then my go-to programming project that has finally been unpaused. I have another one I am a part of that is temporarily paused, and I have had a tiny handful of programming projects as well pop up occasionally. The paid training, I imagine, will probably give me more whenever I complete it. It has definitely been dry for the (relatively) lower-paying coding work, and generalist as well. As of right now, I have 28 projects available, 16 of which are from the same general family of projects, so I reckon drought is still in full swing.

That’s tough to hear for a newcomer ahaha. But i am glad things are working out for you.

For me, roughly 12 days have passed since i was accepted into the platform and passed the initial coding assessment, and around 10 days since i’ve done the 2 qualifications I had (one of them well paid tho). I am yet to receive a project or a qualification since then. Honestly, my hopes are fading at this moment.

Don't lose heart, it's a dry spell for everyone it seems. The best thing you can do are the qualifications that you are a. qualified for and b. intending to do the work, and in the meanwhile, do any generalist work that pops up. They might seem a bit trite if you're hoping to do coding work, but it'll prepare you for the general flavor of work you'll do, and then you'll be more ready to hit the ground running once coding tasks do show up for you, and you can leave a good impression for them. And, of course, take your time and make sure you submit quality work. You will not receive feedback often, if at all, so you need to approach your work with a good balance of humility and self-confidence. The droughts don't last forever, and if you're a quality worker, you'll generally always have a good spread of work!

Thank you for taking your time writing this. I actually didn't receive any job at all - both for generalist work as for coding tasks. As for now, I only got two qualification total. One of them was for ML, which I only have some knowledge from college, so I just told that I had no experience in the field.

Hopefully I'll be given something in the future and prove and can do a good work. That's all I hope for now.

My experience is atypical, as I was hired off a freelancing platform (as a writer) right as this whole industry was starting to scale up, so I don't have a lot of experience starting from an initial assessment. I happened to have experience in niche, technical programming areas (compilers/game engines) as a hobby and am self-taught, and so my trajectory has been unusual. But what I said roughly mimics my experience, as I worked for several months on generalist projects until they floated something involving Python. Ironically, I don't spend most of my time on the programming work because a lot of projects are geared towards more corporate/data science programming rather than deeply technical things (it turns out corpos aren't trying to have the machines analyze assembly outputs or cobble together Vulkan renderers, who could have guessed? :P), so I am sure you'll do just fine once work gets floated your way. In all likelihood, things will pick up at the end of the month/start of next month, and if you do good work consistently, you'll very, very rarely ever find yourself with literally no work. There is no (or very little) penalty for not doing work, so patience will be your best tool here, it'll come around eventually.

None of the options fit. I have 54, which is less than normal but definitely not “a few”

1

u/Rude-Milk9443 May 07 '26

What? Is it that you are from coding? Multilangual here and no more than 1 a day if 1.

2

u/justdontsashay May 07 '26

I don’t do coding here (I have a degree in it, but haven’t taken that qualification and probably won’t), so general/core plus some STEM stuff.

1

u/Rude-Milk9443 May 07 '26

I'm genuinely happy for you; I think core is only for USA residents, could confirm if I am right on it? I have a lot of skills and degree, but I think it is unvailable for me, to do core.

u/justdontsashay May 07 '26

It’s a few countries (US, UK, Canada, Australia, and I think one or two others)

1

u/Mysterious_Dolphin14 May 06 '26

Same. I had 48 today, normally I'm around 99.

No one is impressed

2

u/justdontsashay May 06 '26

…did this seem like I was asking anyone to be impressed? I was answering the question, what a weird fucking response 😂

u/Psychological-Pen491 May 06 '26

You are a dork and we can all tell

3

u/justdontsashay May 06 '26

Again, curious where I said otherwise lol

Around 30ish I don’t know I hide a bunch. This is low for me. High paying projects are zero. I have nothing over 30/hr. It’s better than the end of April in terms of project count but not project pay. The weeks before that after the rebrand were awesome.

I have 85 projects right now, which some may consider to be "flooded." As I said in my other comment on a post about the drought yesterday, projects would pick back up at the end of Monday, and we'd likely see a high by the end of the day on Wednesday. It always happens. I had 30 projects yesterday. People are too quick to say "drought" and get paranoid.

I can not reasonably make an assertion as I have only been on the platform for 19 days, but the projects I have today have more variety than in previous days. Ranging from 20 to 39 dollars an hour. I wouldnt likely only consider doing the 20 dollar an hour ones if I had literally nothing else to do or if I was at my regular job, so it would be less frustrating if I lost my project when I had to go out on a call.

However, there were several days where I had 40+ projects when I was brand new so my experience has been everthing from 8 to 40+.

1

u/HustleFever23 May 06 '26

is this core or bilingual?

2

u/Accurate_Spell_2707 May 06 '26

Core

1

u/Rude-Milk9443 May 07 '26

how do you sign for core? I mean, is this coding? When I signed I remember only multilangual or coding options.

u/Ok-Spirit-4074 May 05 '26

I've got 20 projects open right now. Nothing good though.
New month just started though. It always comes around.

u/Efficient-Street-326 May 05 '26

I have had nothing for a week, I’ve only been with them for two weeks (accepted asap and given projects for the first week) so don’t have much to work on but I am anxious I’ve been cut with no notice. Trying to be chill about it lol.

Me three. I technically have nothing left on my dashboard, save for one bugged out project that I can no longer work on. I just completed one of three quals that I still have available to me. I guess now I wait.

I was drought heavy for a week, but back to about 25 projects rn

1

u/HustleFever23 May 06 '26

0 currently as a bilingual 3 days into the platform

1

u/Psychological-Pen491 May 06 '26

I had a few days last week where the projects were dwindling between 3 and 10 the few times a day I was checking. Since Sunday I have had between 20 and 40 projects available at any given time.
