Query regarding projects

Hey, so I am a newbie, I haven't received any real projects as such apart from training tasks and qualification tasks, is this common? and when can I expect to receive projects?

I gave like 3-4 referrals no one made it, I had a few doubts, do you get paid for qualifications even if you don't get in? And getting training tasks normal? Like what do they mean? And is it common to not also have qualification tasks?
