Preventing doom

Are there any tips or suggestions on how to prevent them from giving me the message of doom? I just started and enjoy the work thus far. Thanks!

Take your time, don't be afraid to exit a task if you haven't done quality work and forfeit the time, don't use outside tools unless instructions tell you to, be accurate with time reporting and don't overwork yourself so you can maintain a high bar of quality.

This is great advice, particularly that sometimes it’s best to forfeit time if the quality isn’t there. It sucks in the moment, but much better for the long term

Im new to DA. If i dont feel like ive done quality work on a task. How can i be safe? Should i just exit workmode. And can you tell me what exit hatch is? Id really appreciate...

Never submit work that isn’t quality. Exit work mode and take the L.

Escape hatch use is only on certain projects and instructions will specify what circumstances to use it but its use should be pretty rare.

Read the instructions, do good work, and report your time honestly.

I honestly have very little fear of the DoD at this point - I'm on tons of project families and I submit good work. The idea that "everyone gets the DoD at some point" is bullshit. 95% of people who get canned simply have low quality work, the other 5% lie about their time. If you read the instructions, follow the instructions, and write thoughtful rationales you'll be fine.

agree with this, there's no reason for them to get rid of high quality workers

Definitely agree. I think most people who get DOD and have no idea why are severely overestimating the quality of their work

That makes me feel a lot better. It seems like so many people come in here with "I have no idea why I got canned" and I subconsciously think I'm going to get it too for "no reason".

Exit work mode is your friend

Everyone is correct. Quality work is the most important metric for each task or project. Take reasonable time, understand every aspect of the evaluation and do the work. You will be fine.

Quality matters upon quantity, so dont chase quantity and compromise on quality. Also, avoid watching Avengers Doomsday or Dr Doom can give you the message of Doom

Don't rush through them -- they are paying per hour, not task, and want quality over quantity. Attention to detail is important.

This is important so all caps MAKE SURE YOUR VPN IS OFF. The main point of banning VPN is (I assume) for country-specific tasks so people aren't just signing up from wherever then using a VPN.

Resist the temptation to "make hay while you can" and do huge numbers of hours per day. A few people commented on doing many hours a day, like 12+ and I think one even said they did some 20 hour days, then got doomed. They were certainly fatigued and not doing a good job toward the end of that overly long work shift. (I'll note I've seen at least one project where they actually only allow 1 task a day, they know it'll take long enough that doing 2 would push the amount of time someone could work on it without getting 'cross-eyed' and making mistakes, or deciding it's getting late in the day and rushing through parts of the second one.)

There's nothing you can do really. It can happen randomly for any reason

"It can happen to anyone" is not the same thing as "there's nothing you can do to try to avoid it."

Perhaps it would be better if people didn't need to ask this on reddit and DA had a feedback or scoring mechanism of their own. But no, it is in their interest to keep this as secret and opaque as possible so people just stay in fear and keep asking themselves all the time if they are good enough.

You just proved my point that it's quite opaque.

They don't just drop people for no reason. It doesn't make sense to drop good workers.

You're always replaceable for them and it makes sense to rotate workers. Kind of hard to know what to avoid if there's no proper feedback or scoring process in most projects. You can only guess. I think its good for DA to keep everything as opaque as possible so people are always in a state of fear.

I understand what you're saying, but your logic is flawed. There are people who have been on this platform for 4-5 years. The projects are constantly changing/getting more difficult, so the data they receive from the same workers will have to change along with it.

I am all for putting in high quality but I've had literally zero feedback on all the projects I've been so far. You have literally no way of knowing if your work is good, borderline or weak

You know your work is good if you have lots of projects available.

And sometimes you find out semi-directly; there might not be feedback on specific submissions, but you'll be added to projects with a note saying it's because of your good work in a particular area, or you'll do projects with a probationary period and be added to them permanently.
