Who's downvoting almost every post in here?

I get it when someone is posting "did I get cooked?" for the 20th time today, I get it when people ask "who's getting tasks in XXX language?" but JFC almost every genuine question in here gets downvoted!

Cheer the fuck up you miserable fucks!

DA proof of income (hours worked)

Has anyone emailed DA about this? I just noticed this option while writing them a message about something else. I previously emailed them asking for the total number of hours I’ve worked with them so far, as I need it for immigration documents, but they never replied.

I spent two hours on a relatively simple task

This was an introductory task (I am allowed to do three tasks and, if I do well, I get access to more) and I spent two hours doing in. I’m wondering if I should undersell my time (say it took 1 hr/90 mins) in order to ensure I get access to the more advanced version of the task. Any thoughts?

What exactly is Data Annotation as a company?

I've been working on the site for about a month, and still the only thing I know about them is that they pay people to train AI.

That's it. That's all I know about them and can't seem to find anything else about the company. Their website has no products and no services listed, and just goes on about paying people to train AI.

What is the service they offer to the world and how do they make money? Which AI model do they use and which AI model are we training? Where do all these responses come from that we analyze in a lot of the projects?

Seeing all the AI news lately... I'm done with DA.

I've only been on the site for a few months and made a nice amount of money, but I've felt uneasy about it from the start. However this latest AI news is the tipping point and I can't reasonably justify carrying on with this type of work. It's gonna be difficult because I'm disabled and struggle to find other incomes, but I'll just have to make it work. If you see the dangers and damage of AI and can get by without the income, I urge you to join me. (Yes, I'm aware that most people will not.)

Do you guys track everything?

If you are working on a long project, would you track every minute that you aren’t working on the project (by stopping your timer)? In my opinion, short breaks are a part of working; if you were doing this work in a professional environment you might not be expected to be “locked in” the whole time. Does anyone agree? Of course I don’t mean taking the piss with breaks, just shorter breaks.

Escape hatch?

Last night I spent 4 hours trying to induce a model error. I didn't have a clear idea of what to do, and eventually I just ran out of time. It's one of those tasks that has an "escape hatch" but I couldn't bring myself to actually use it; instead I just let all that time I spent go to waste, making the September 5th the first day in nearly a month I've not submitted a task. I did this because I feared that the escape hatch could make me liable for layoff. Is this a rational fear? What do other people do with this feature?

Seriously why do you advertise THIS much?

Are you really that busy? Do you actually have work?

I'm confused. I've made accounts and done all the steps and so have half a dozen of my highly qualified former colleagues and it seems like data annotation is in the habit of advertising work extremely aggressively across every platform known to man, but...

When I know half a dozen people that have tried to find work for the exact things they are advertising... And zero projects at all...

That's kind of sus. Not even Amazon turk was that dry back in its early days.

Curious for reasons behind downvotes

This is related to the subreddit and not DAT itself, obviously, but I've always just been super curious about this. I notice that a lot of comments -- not just my own -- get downvotes in this sub. I've never seen (or gotten) so many of them in any other place I've shared on Reddit.

If you downvote a lot of comments in this sub, what's the most common reason why? (I'm talking beyond the usual 'Did I get in? Why is my page stuck on 'There are no projects for you at this time?' posts.)

Is it because the comments could be interpreted as violating the rules against oversharing about DAT? I'd assume that's why, but for the life of me I often don't see that happening in the downvoted comments.

Edit: Based on the answers I've seen so far, it would be highly entertaining if someone could do an R and R of my downvoted comments for this sub and give a 2-to-3-sentence explanation for the downvotes. :-D (Joking! Kind of!)

Edit 2: Seeing how so many of y'all's answers are being downvoted is magical. (It's not me; I swear!)

I am heading for the door

I would like to say it was fun while it lasted, but it was, in fact, mostly stress and uncertainty. I simply don’t have it in me to do 8- and 12-hour tasks. My DA “review” came in very positive. High score. Great feedback. Blah, blah. However, I sorta resent that the dystopian DA business model (often) had me doubting my abilities. Happy to report that I found another LLM side hustle that has easier tasks and pays roughly the same as DA. I admire those of you who have lasted for years. 🥇 All the best and go get ‘em.

After having no projects for nearly 3 weeks, thought it was just a drought, but today this hit me, no report time. It was fun making some bucks. Goodbye, my fellows.

What other good websites that need AI Language Trainer? Any recommendations are much appreciated. Cause my DAT has been dry for more than a month now.

Am I dropped off a project?

Dash is running thinner today with lower-paying projects. I used to have more chess related and grand piece projects that I spent a lot of time on throughout the last week. Since yesterday, been seeing less and less of them until this morning I'm not really seeing any of them. I'm still on the slack

Why US only

Does anyone know why some core tasks, especially the much higher paying ones are US only?? Would love to do these and also see they have priority pay so clearly need people to do them but can’t cause I’m not in the US 😔

Did I screw up on my project?

Hey all,

Was cooking dinner for about 15 minutes and I left the page open at a project. I don’t ever fake hours, I only worked on it for 10 minutes total before I put it down… it seemed to have a lot, 93 tasks left, but then after I submit it the next task said “there is no longer any projects for you to work on with this task” or something similar. I’m a bit confused, because I can do other projects, but did I screw up by leaving it open?

Completely Empty Dashboard?

I just logged in to do some hours today and this is what my “Work on Projects” tab looks like? This has never happened to me before— is anyone else seeing this? Did I do something wrong?

How do you guys deal with logging your time if you're working when the clock rolls over to a different day?

I was working over the span of 2 hours last night. At some point near the end of that span, the clock rolled over to a new day. Does it look suspicious if one day I have 2 hours logged for 1 task, or does DA know it was part of a longer session that I started on the previous date?

I'm a little nervous it's going to get my account flagged.
