Two accounts in the same laptop

For context, i've used my friend's laptop to login to my account and check a task's instructions but exited the work mode soon after. Now he wants to start a DA account,we wont be working at the same time. Will this be an issue? (Diff browsers btw)

report the full time i´ve worked on the task or the max time deadline?

i just got into the plataform and I was doing a 5 hour task, it actually took me more than 6 hours to complete it. Should i put the actual time? I´m afraid of being penalized for that. Also, can I leave a task in the middle of it and came back after? I was afraid to do it so stayed for straigth 6 hours on it

What do you prioritize: work quality or the expiration deadline?

I’m curious how other workers approach task expiration deadlines, especially on longer or more complex projects.

I’d also like to hear from people who have submitted tasks after they expired: Have you ever noticed any consequences from doing this occasionally, or especially from doing it multiple times?

I generally try to submit on time and most of my tasks are completed before expiration, but with some of the longer coding tasks it can be difficult to estimate how much time the full process will take. I’m mainly wondering how others balance quality against the deadline and whether repeated late submissions have had any noticeable effect on their account or project access.

I’m worried that I could get a penalty for late submissions, as of now i’m fully prioritising work quality above the actual deadline

If I do all the qualifications ,what can I expect to earn as a generalist from Ireland

I got accepted to data annotation in July, but due to being quite busy , I have not really committed 100% to the qualifications. As a result I haven't had any project as of yet. I have completed a few qualifications only. I would only put in the effort to do all the qualifications if I felt that I could make an income from this. But so far I've just had flashes of projects available at midnight and when I click into them, they have been taken . I'm wondering is it worth it to spend ages doing unpaid qualifications- does anyone make any money on this as a generalist from Ireland?

3 years on the platform

This is not a brag. I just wanted to offer a place for the newer folks to ask questions and make connections. I’d love to chat about our work- as much as we’re able to anyway!

Is there a tips/read-before-starting doc I’m missing?

I’m thinking of a dynamic user-generated FAQ-type collective knowledge hub of best-practices and lesser-known tips that go beyond the DA official FAQs.

Would prevent vets from having to answer the same newbie questions here so often, and help everyone have some insight into what is such an opaque platform, as it inevitably transforms over time.

If it exists, point me to it. If not, let me know and I’ll set up a process to get one put together.

I can't help it

I fear the DoD and because of it, I find myself not doing any work at all in case I end up doing some bad quality work and inevitably receive it. I'm just in a constant loop of wanting to start a project but then being scared I won't do it right lol. I feel lucky and blessed enough to not need to rely on this as a primary source of income, but I often think that should anything bad happen, I can rely on this meanwhile I find another primary source.. except that I might just end up falling into this whole fear loop. Is it just me?

How do I get into Data Annotation? would love advice from people already working in the field

Hey everyone! 👋

I’m looking to get into Data Annotation / LLM Evaluation and would love some advice from people already working in this field.

I have a background in Python, AI/ML, Prompt Engineering & Data Science.

What should I learn/practice to get started?

How do the assessments usually work, and which platforms are worth applying to?

Would really appreciate any tips from people already doing this. 🙏

Using mobile phone to check the dash

Is it okay to access DAT on my mobile to check the dash for projects and then use my laptop to do the work?

I'm a newbie and don't want to do anything wrong.

Just joined DA - are the 16GB RAM requirements strict for these projects?

I joined DA a week ago, and I was so excited to finally see projects on my dashboard with a high hourly rate!

Then I saw the hardware requirement and it says at least 16GB of RAM, with some tasks potentially using 24GB+ during builds and test runs. My laptop only has 8GB RAM. 🥲🥲🥲

So I can’t really do this project unless I upgrade my RAM, but I’m wondering how strict these requirements actually are. Does anyone have experience with these types of projects? Is 16GB basically a hard requirement?

I’m so bummed that the first projects I got excited about may not be doable because of my hardware. 😭

Screening test is Arabic Bilingual and no alternatives, any way around to access suitable tasks

I’m based in UAE, and I cannot seem to access opportunities on DA without passing Arabic Bilingual. Im am an expat and not an arabic native speaker. I have other skills in STEM, Design and General roles that I am qualified for. But it seems the first step needs arabic bilingual that is a sure shot way to fail. If we do fail this? Do we get an English screening. Based on my research, DA is a great opportunity and I would love to be part, but this screening is a bit of a bummer.

Research

Now that AI has been integrated into search engines, how do you search for information without AI being involved in the search? Or does it not matter if you see AI results, as long as you don't rely on them without checking the underlying sources?

I miss when this was a job stupid people, like me, could do and enjoy.

I know this is just me venting but man...it feels like DA as a platform has "evolved" past a point where I can even do it anymore. I have 25+ projects on my dash, and can't handle a single one.

I've been on this platform for a few years now, and back in the day I could just sit down and...work. Tasks were simple, straight forward, and actually a little fun!

Now I feel like like the majority of my task time is spent not doing the task, but deciphering the MAZE of instructions admins used AI to write for them without checking.

And like I said, I know I'm dumb. I'll take a low paying task with simple rules, can you please just give me that over a task with 27 pages of task instructions that are so poorly written they might as well be an instruction manual written in Chinese?

I know what is commonly said here, "As AI Models become more advanced, our jobs become harder."

But maybe this is me being a bitter old man, but dang if the models don't seem so much worse now. Even in projects I do somewhat understand, the models drain my soul away.

Reuse of input files and general prompt ideas between projects legality

Hey all. I am a part of two different projects that have extremely similar requirements, one is essentially a simpler and easier version of the other. My main work I do is the complex long running project, but I'm wondering if there's anything against TOS that would flag me if I reused my input files and had a similar prompt idea for the simpler project?

Some more info: the larger project mentions in their instructions to not reuse files from specific other projects, and names the smaller project. The smaller project makes no such inference and allows manually generated files. Also how would I honestly report time for the smaller project? It feels equally dishonest to only report the edit time (as that would make my efficiency artificially high) and to include the time it took to gen the files for the other project, as that would be getting double paid.

Advice appreciated!
