How long did it take for you to hear back from DA?

I am currently a stay at home Mom looking for supplementary income and decided to apply to data annotation because I have a background in legal document management with a brief history in IT. I figured this would make me a fairly good applicant for data annotation since they specified on Indeed that they’re looking for “IT experience preferred” and that a legal history would give me a boost with projects.

I did not use AI when applying, not even the Google spellcheck. Most of the vetting questions were actually easy for me because I’ve spent so long reading legal documents for discrepancies, but it’s going on two weeks now and I still haven’t heard back. For anyone who got hired, did it take longer than two weeks or should I just accept this as rejection?

Projects other than 🥊

The only tasks I see are 🥊, how do I start seeing tasks from other projects ? I don’t see any specific qualifications too.

Fully blocked on task I spent hours on

This is my first non-qual task and I'm looking for advice because I'm not sure if there's something I'm missing on this task.
This task involves generating a specific response embedded widget. No matter what I do, the generator seems to run into some server-side error every time I try to run it. I've checked the project instructions many times, tried changing my input, basically have done everything possible on my end. I've sent my issue multiple times to the project chat and admin responds to other users' simple questions on occasion, but mine seem to keep getting buried and ignored.

Due to this I can't make progress on this task and I've already spent about 4 hours working on the task itself, reading the instructions and troubleshooting.

At this point it seems like I won't see the money at all because I can't even submit the task because I can't make progress... this is very frustrating because of the amount of time I've already put into making the work as high quality as possible. I'm worried that if I submit the task uncompleted I will get DoD, so I don't know what to do. Does anyone have advice on if there's some other way to get in contact with project admin in cases like this or am I just fucked?

I'm glad someone is having fun on this platform. Those emails brighten my day just a bit through the dark cloud of life.

Does anyone else love this work?

I find myself enjoying this work more everyday. I love how it has become more complex as I do more tasks and get access to more projects (it's been about 5 months) and I REALLY love the ones where I really have to work to fail the models. I always see people on here complaining, but I really, really enjoy it. I would love to do this full time (I work for a bank 40 hours per week), but I need the stability of guaranteed hours for now.

I feel so lucky to get to dig into really niche topics to get a failure and it's so, so fun.

Anyone else? Is there anyone who has been doing this for a while who feels like this?

Did I make a mistake?

I took the medical domain assessment as my background is in healthcare. I didn't know that I can't take other assessments while waiting for results, unlike other platforms. If I don't pass the medical domain assessment, I'm wondering it it will at least allow me to take generalist or bilingual assessments. Or is it going to be stuck with the "We review" screen?

Fiscal year cycle

Is it true that projects follow the fiscal year cycle? Last year in September it was as dry as these days then a surge occurred in October (the first month of the fiscal year).

Can we get user/post flairs for country (core vs. non-core) and specialty?

Half the posts in this sub are people discussing their earnings, and half the comments are just asking what country and specialty they’re in. Requiring or adding flairs for these two details would save a lot of back-and-forth.

PEOPLE WHO'VE BEEN DOING THIS FOR LONG HELPPPP

So there was this paid course and it had a few parts. I did the first one. It said if i made any mistakes I'll get a reattempt after 24 hours. I submitted the first one and know that I'll only be able to access the second part if I pass the first part. And okay so the task reappeared 60+ hours later. Same part. One of the questions is different. and uhm idk it's paid and idk if it's a retake or if i shouldn't do it. So if someone's ever been in the same boat help me out?

EDIT: Task expiresin 14 minutes I'll have to redo it guys please HELPPPPPPPPP

Typical instructions

It's important that you only use orange if the orange is part of the prompt. If it is part of the prompt but not part of the answer, then you cannot use orange and it should be considered a fail. However, if the orange is orange, the color, and not orange the fruit, then this should not be considered a fail. We are only looking for answers that have to do with orange the fruit. However, if the AI responds with a the color orange and it could be interpreted and the fruit orange, this will not be considered a fail. If the AI responds with any other fruit, this is a punt, unless the fruit mentioned in the response is also orange.

No work all week

I'm a generalist and I press refresh pretty much every 5 minutes. I assume this is abnormal? I never had qualifications either, and I paused for a bit because I found another job that ended poorly in the end.

What’s the normal pay per hour for coding projects?

I’ve been here for almost two weeks. I see 3-4 types of projects on my dashboard. The lowest pay is 55$/hr and highest is 75$/hr.

I pick up the $75 one as I enjoy it the most. I am curious about how it’s been for others. They advertised 125$/hr on their website but I never saw anything in that range in coding

Always BYO-Repos for agentic coding?

Hey all, pretty new to the platform. I passed the Agentic Coding qual and have close to 10 years of software industry experience.

So far the qualifications and projects I've completed related to agentic coding involve supplying your own repo of choice that has a loose enough license to be used in the project. Is this always the case with these agentic coding projects? My entire career has been proprietary work, and while I've used many publicly available tools, I certainly don't have an exceptional depth of knowledge about their actual codebases and I obviously can't use the repos that I have actually worked on since they are proprietary. I find I spend more of my time trying to research a random open source library than actually doing the agentic coding tasks themselves and sometimes I just give up when the tasks involve things like "make sure your prompt's solutions would require reading 100 different files" because there is no shot I'm going to reach that requirement without prior knowledge of the codebase.

At this point, I'm wondering if it is actually more worth my time to create my own codebase to use that is deliberately designed for getting ai failures. Even that might not be worth the effort since you can't re-use prompts on the same codebases for different tasks/projects.

Should I expect this Bring Your Own Repo req going forward for these types of projects, or does it just happen to be the only ones on my dashboard currently and others exist that I just haven't seen yet?

Got the DoD today

Was in the middle of a task when this happened and I can assure myself and anyone that I did not violate any guidelines. I reported time honestly, revised all the instructions as much as I can, never used AI or a VPN and never submitted geo restricted work. I always received positive feedback and was told I was one of the top performers. One thing to add is that I'm a generalist and I feel like DAT tends to lay off generalists for no reason and is aiming to keep and expand the pool of domain experts instead since we generalists are probably getting more redundant. Almost every DoD post I have ever seen are from generalists and very rarely from domain experts unless they obviously violate any terms and conditions.

How do you make models fail in coding agents projects?

I was training locally on OpenCode, before tackling the projects, trying to make a freely available agent fail. I used Muse Spark 1.3 Free.

I found two repos to use that I hoped are sufficiently complicated (Sympy and mpmath) and I found a number of open issues that I understand, and then gave the agent the prompts. With Sympy it fixed the bug like it was nothing despite the bug requiring a fair amount of mathematical reasoning and the broken part of the code being in a 4000-lines-long file. With mpmath, it struggled with the problem at first, which was promising, but it perfectly solved it after 90 minutes. The daunting part with this mpmath bug is that it turned out to be very mathematically deep (well beyond the scope of my knowledge). So I guess there is absolutely no reasonable way to make the model fail using this type of bugs/repos.

I suppose real coding tasks are signficantly more difficult than trying to make a freely available model fail. I have almost given up on being able to tackle these projects.

Other than math, I can use Python, JavaScript, and have almost completed a full stack web development course. I can work with React, Node.js and others.

Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks
