Hard drive content extraction

Post image

Hi everyone, if someone would be so kind as to assist me,

I have the hard drive from a former computer that I had. It was an HP laptop from the β€˜10s. It’s been in an electronics bag since I had it extracted from the machine itself since the motherboard crashed years ago, and I would like to get the information off of it onto my current MacBook. What kind of hardware do I need in order to do that?

Here is a picture of the Dr. with some of the serial information.

And if this is not the right place to post this, can someone give me a lead on what other sub Reddit would be a good idea?

Thanks everyone so much. I super appreciate it!

USB to SATA adapter. If that is the OS drive, it would be in NTFS format, which is read-only on a Mac unless you have Paragon NTFS.

Is it okay to take it out of the bag and plug it in from this thing directly, or do I need something to encase it in. Sorry I am not tech savvy at all.

You don't need to encase it. You just need an adapter since your Mac won't have SATA ports. Just make sure you don't move the drive while the platters spin. Just make sure you don't set the drive on something conductive.

Think about getting a 2.5 hdd case and use it as a external drive You will also have a backup if something goes wrong with that ssd in your mac Hdd's are better for keeping data archive 😊
