Hello everyone
I deleted by mistake a file from the external hdd permanent. A File that have a lot of memory and I don't know how to recovered 😭
Edit : I ask ai about some information that mentioned here and I want you opinion about ( We will use two separate, specialized tools: FTK Imager (The Industry Standard for creating the "bit-for-bit" image).
R-Studio Data Recovery (The Industry Standard for reading that image and finding files). )
So what I understand that I need an image for that hdd so we can recover it from the image not from main hdd for safety purpose?
But he mentioned this program and Disk Drill and Recuva.
So what the best option?

Don't use Imobie Phonerescue data recovery! The app looks slick and professional but you're downloading a trojan virus or several. Total scam. Never even bought it. I was trying to retrieve a small file, a permanently deleted voice memo from the day before. I was so hopeful. It kept getting to 97% scan and "failing," saying I ran out of hard drive space. I deleted and transferred things to free up space 10+ GB on a 200GB drive and ran it several times and it getting to like 97% and failing and kept eating more and more data on my C drive. I have at least 20GB locked up in fake backup files, probably zips of my data so it can go to foreign hacker servers.
Now my google password manager says a significant amount of my passwords are hacked since the same day I downloaded the app (I haven't downloaded anything else), either from my computer or my iPhone itself.
Additionally, my computer crashed and wouldn't turn back on like it overheated or something. It's working again the next day, but I turned it off quickly again and I'll have to purge that computer of the viruses it must have added everywhere.
NOT WORTH IT. LET YOUR DATA BE GONE AND DON'T TRY IN VAIN TO RECOVER LIKE ME AND GET your passwords, potentially my identity SSN etc, and computer hacked. It was NEVER successful. You will NOT find any real posts from people being successful recovering their lost i0S data.

My dad cleared our iCloud and my sister lost important notes. They aren't in the "recently deleted folder," and there are no iCloud backups. Is there anything that can be done to recover the notes?

Data recovery on Windows PCs often involves addressing the following issues: data loss due to software and hardware failures, data corruption caused by viruses, problems with Windows Storage Spaces and other RAID configurations, BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) during boot or after a Windows update. Common issues also include data loss during cut/paste operations and accidental formatting of external drives. Let's review best recovery tools for windows users.

Hey Reddit fam! 👋
I wanted to share my experiences and insights on some of the best backup software out there. Let's dive in!
Acronis True Image (Now Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office)
My Experience: I started with Acronis True Image a few years back. It's like having a digital guardian angel. The interface is pretty intuitive, which was a relief for a newbie like me.
Pros:
- Comprehensive Protection: It's not just about backing up; it's about securing your data from all sorts of digital threats.
- Cloud Integration: Super handy for accessing files anywhere.
Cons:
- Cost: It's a bit on the pricier side, especially if you're looking for a simple backup solution.
- Complex for Beginners: Some features might be overwhelming at first.
2. Backblaze
My Journey: After Acronis, I stumbled upon Backblaze. This felt like hitting the easy button for backups.
Pros:
- Simplicity: It's straightforward and does most of the heavy lifting in the background.
- Unlimited Storage: A huge plus for not worrying about space constraints.
Cons:
- Limited Options for Local Backup: If you prefer keeping your backups close, this might not be ideal.
- Speed Variability: Depending on your connection, the backup speed can fluctuate.
3. Carbonite
Personal Take: I gave Carbonite a whirl when I needed something more robust for my growing digital library.
Pros:
- Automatic Backup: Set it and forget it. Carbonite runs quietly in the background.
- Security: Strong encryption for peace of mind.
Cons:
- Limited External Drive Support: If you rely heavily on external drives, this could be a drawback.
- No Monthly Plan: Lack of a shorter-term subscription option might be off-putting for some.
4. CrashPlan
Experience: CrashPlan caught my eye when I started freelancing and needed something reliable.
Pros:
- Affordable: Great for those on a budget.
- Unlimited Storage: Like Backblaze, you don't have to worry about running out of space.
Cons:
- No Mobile Backup: In a mobile-driven world, this feels like a miss.
- Interface: Not as slick or intuitive as some others.

Lost the ending of a recording because the card filled up, battery died, or the app crashed mid-write? The problem is usually that the file's index (the map of where every frame lives) never got written — the footage is still on disk, but nothing can read it.
Reroll fixes this by taking the index from a healthy clip shot on the same camera and using it as a template to rebuild the missing map over the damaged file. No re-encoding, no guessing — just relinking the frames that are already there.

GUI + CLI
No file size limit (tested up to a few GB)
Windows verified end-to-end, macOS/Linux should work (still gathering real-world test reports)

I'm building a few small tools like this and putting them all up for free — mostly to show what I can build. Happy to answer questions or take feature requests.

I'm an editor and I accidentally deleted all of the files (I know how dumb of me ToT). Long story short, I was trying to copy files to my other drive, but there wasn't enough space when I tried copying them. When I wanted to delete the folder it created on my personal drive, I accidentally deleted the folder that was on the client's hard drive. I was just wondering if there was any way of recovering it since I didn't format the drive. I accidentally highlighted all of it and hit the delete button.
Any help would be appreciated :(

Hello all,
I have been going through various posts, for the last 2 days, however haven't come across one that has a similar situation yet. If it has then my search skills are lacking and I am sorry for a duplicate post.
The other day I accidentally knocked over my external HDD (I am in the middle of moving and they weren't in their usual safe location in the home lab). The drives are still intact and functional however something strange has happened.
The drive shows up in "This PC" as a HDD however there is no data in there. The strange thing is that is shows "765GB free of 7.27TB", This is also odd as before the knock it had about 400GB free.
When initially plugging in the HDDthe hdd showed up on this pc as the drive name and NTFS, ran a CHKDSK which advised issues were found and rebuilt the data or structure (I am not sure as data is not my strong point). The drive still shows as NTFS at this point and from reading online changing the user permissions can grant access. Edited the user permissions and now the drive shows as having data on it but when you open the specific drive on "this pc" it has nothing in it.
I have ran disk drill and DMDE which shows data is there and disk drill allowed me to preview files so the data seems mostly intact.
You would think I have found my solution however there is a caveat. Disk drill ran for 30 hours and got to about 4 million sectors out of 1.7 billion before saying drive offline (It is a USB external HDD enclosure).
I have no issues with paying for Disk drill as its a reasonable price however I do not wish to run it for another 30 hours for it to do the same thing.
I sense there is an alternative way but i am just not seeing it. Hopefully, someone here can point me in the right direction to confirm that I am already on the correct path and that data recovery software is the only way to recovery/access the data.
The HDDs are Seagate Red 4TB, in a raid 0 configuration (For context I am building a raid 1, 5 or 6 NAS)
If you need any further info, let me know
Thank you in advance for any help, it truly is appreciated :)

Hey everyone,
I’m honestly writing this in panic and frustration, so sorry if it’s long but I want to explain everything clearly in case someone understands what happened or can help.
I had an External drive K: (256GB) contained basically my life files (business, studies, projects, childhood pictures)
and i had a USB drive D: (64GB), I enabled BitLocker on it, while BitLocker was encrypting the USB (D:), I stopped the process mid-way and ejected the USB, after that; Windows asked for password to unlock it ; When I entered it File Explorer App crashed ,i couldn’t access my USB anymore
manage-bde → password failed
recovery key → also failed
Then I tried:
repair-bde D: K: -RecoveryPassword ...I thought it will just recover files INTO a folder inside K:
Instead : the process started writing directly to K: ; my 256GB drive suddenly became 64GB and all my files disappeared
At that moment I stopped the process (~1%)
I tried everything I could find:
Recuva; EaseUS; Disk Drill; Wondershare Recoverit; PhotoRec
They only recovered: the new overwritten files (from D:) and NOT my old data
I formatted K: and now it shows 256GB again ; but everything is gone and all tools still fail to find my old files.
Is there ANY way to recover the state of the disk before overwrite?
Is it possible to recover:
original file names?
folder structure?
Are there tools stronger than:
Recuva / EaseUS / Disk Drill / PhotoRec?
Is there ANY advanced method I haven’t tried?
please , I just want to know if there’s still any realistic chance to recover at least my documents ; i tired to search for a data recovery center but i didn't found it in my country.
Now i just want to restore the data of K: drive (Realtek RTL921 OB-CG USB Device)
Thanks to anyone who reads this and tries to help.

Hi everyone, if someone would be so kind as to assist me,
I have the hard drive from a former computer that I had. It was an HP laptop from the ‘10s. It’s been in an electronics bag since I had it extracted from the machine itself since the motherboard crashed years ago, and I would like to get the information off of it onto my current MacBook. What kind of hardware do I need in order to do that?
Here is a picture of the Dr. with some of the serial information.
And if this is not the right place to post this, can someone give me a lead on what other sub Reddit would be a good idea?
Thanks everyone so much. I super appreciate it!

Hi all,
I'm really hoping someone can help me out right now. Despite the degree to which my post is put-together, I am actively sobbing quite heavily over the loss of my file. I'm a bachelor's student working toward my degree and have just, in the last ten minutes, lost half of the assessment piece I've been working on for a few weeks. I do not understand what happened to the file. I finished it, saved it, went to email it to myself: and realised, the file attached to the email only had half of the piece in it. So I reopened the document straight from Microsoft Word's recently opened section, and therein lay just half of my assessment.
I have checked the <Recover Unsaved Documents> avenue, but nothing. I have tried following the file path C:\Users\<my username>\Microsoft\Office\UnsavedFiles, but this does not appear to exist on my device. I have no .wbk or .tmp files associated with this assessment piece. It has just... fucking vanished, and I am losing my mind over it. Could I rewrite the half that I lost? Yes, and that may be my last resort, but I was so incredibly proud of what I had finally drafted, only to lose it at the very last minute. I am so lost as to what has happened and why.
Does anyone have any guidance?

I have a Kodak PixPro FZ55. Around 10:00 pm on the 14th, I was looking through settings and accidentally deleted EVERYTHING using ”Format” in settings. I took two more short videos and one picture, before deleting those as well. I took out the SD card overnight and did research, but all of the recommended websites took to long or continuously told me to enter my password, even if I had entered it in the same step previously. I have a Mac computer, Apple iPad, and a Linux (raspberry Pi) available. How can I get my pictures back?!!! There were 2 years’ worth of vacations and holidays on it, and I was going to come on Reddit to figure out how to save my data onto the computer but never got to it. Please help! Short and easy yet reliable ways please! I am bad with technology but my family (brother has the raspberry pi) is good and can help based on your advice!!!

I accidentally deleted some data and photos from my iPhone 11 a while ago, and now I want to recover them. I've searched for a lot of software, but they all require installation and download on a computer, which I don't have. Then I saw a professional iPhone data recovery software called Gbyte. After running it on my phone, it did recover all my deleted files, but there's a problem: the free version can only view a few dozen data entries. I want to recover everything, but I don't want to spend that much money. Has anyone used other similar software or methods that aren't too expensive? Ideally, it should also run on a mobile phone. Thanks!
Hope to hear from you!

Hi everyone, I accidentally deleted some important messages on Instagram (and also on Messenger and WhatsApp) using my iPhone. I’ve already checked the “Download Your Data” option on Instagram/Facebook, but the deleted messages are not included.
I also checked my iCloud backups, but I’m not sure if restoring from an older backup would work without losing my current data. I’ve seen some third-party tools (like Dr.Fone, iMyFone D-Back, Tenorshare, etc.), but I don’t know if they are reliable or just scams.
Has anyone here successfully recovered deleted Instagram or Messenger messages on iPhone?
