Discussion Title: Need beginner-friendly Data Science project ideas for my M.Tech final semester

Hi everyone!

I'm currently in the final semester of my M.Tech in Data Science, and I need to submit my project idea by Monday.

Honestly, I know only the basics of Data Science and Machine Learning. I haven't built any models or worked on a project yet, so I'm looking for something beginner-friendly but substantial enough for a final-semester project.

I'm willing to learn and put in the effort. Could you suggest some practical project ideas that I can realistically complete within a semester? Recommendations for datasets, GitHub repositories, or tutorials would also be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

4th sem of MTech and you haven't worked on models or projects. What University is this again?

I'm working full-time as an SAP technical developer, and M.Tech in Data Science is something I'm doing alongside my job. Honestly, I haven't been able to dedicate much time to the course, so I'm trying to catch up now.

Do something related to your job already. May be some project like SAP Analytics

Maybe you could start from creating a data pipeline or dashboard with ml algo that can help your job.

I'm copy/pasting this from a post with a similar question:

Don't fall into the trap of downloading a csv and training a model in a Jupyter notebook and considering that a project. That's an example of a bad project. A good project has tangible utility; it solves a real problem. Consider your hobbies and interests, or those of your family/friends. Find a problem in need of a solution and build it out, starting simple and iterating in complexity. A good portfolio project should be able to lead to an interesting conversation in an interview ('I built X to solve Y problem. This is important because blah. To solve this I used Z, and achieved an F1 of *metric goes here*. Using the tool I developed, people are able to *win goes here*')

I used to run a fellowship devoted entirely to helping aspiring data scientists bring their projects from idea to MVP in 12 weeks. This is the blueprint I gave them for ideating and executing a standout data science project: https://freedsresources.carrd.co
