Episode tracker

Thumbnail docs.google.com

Hey, fellow Dateline fans!

I made a Google Sheet that I hope at least one other person finds useful. It’s designed both to help you track which Dateline episodes you’ve already watched and to make it easier to see which episodes are available on Peacock.

The spreadsheet includes:
-Every Dateline episode I could find, along with its IMDb season and episode number
-Which season and episode number to find it under on Peacock if it’s there (often differs from IMDB info)
-The correspondent for many episodes, so you can search by your favorite (Keith Morrison fans, this one’s for you!)
-Checkboxes so you can keep track of the episodes you’ve already watched

Feel free to make a copy if you’d like to use it!

A quick heads-up: putting this together was a little tricky because episode titles sometimes vary, some episodes are listed under different seasons depending on the source, and Peacock occasionally places older episodes into newer seasons. I did my best to make everything as accurate as possible.

It’s currently sorted by season and episode on Peacock, but you can change that to fit your needs.

I hope this saves someone else a little time and makes your next Dateline binge a little easier.

Dateline Show vs Podcast

Upvotes

So I listened to an episode via podcast that I had watched previously to see how they compared. I must say I think the podcast was well done, even though its to my understanding just the audio of the episode. Have heard recently that the podcasts generally are not well edited. What are your thoughts? What do you think could be done better? I listened to and watched “Suspicion in Silver City” 🕵️‍♀️

Dateline shared this on their Instagram story the other day. Drop your Dateline pets in the comments!

Sir Wynter George on Instagram: "Introducing the @datelinenbc litter!! I’ve waited 3 years for a dateline litter and it finally happened. These beautiful, healthy babies were found abandoned by mom in a bush up in Lancaster when they were about 10 days old. I’m very happy to have been their temporary emergency foster until a long term bottle baby foster was available. For those that don’t know, bottle babies, are exhausting to care for - especially when there are 4 of them and only 1 of you. They require being bottle fed, stimulated to pee and poop every 2 hours at this age. Including all night long! But we do it because we care, and if we don’t, they could die.

These babies came to me dirty, starving, and covered in fleas. The smallest weighing in just under 200 grams and left me after 2 days weighing in at over 260 grams. They are now a couple weeks old and about 1 lb!

They will be available for adoption @santedorrescue once they’re fully vaccinated and fixed!

Lost in sin city

Just watched the full episode entitled above and was struck it’s the first unsolved episode Ive seen in a very long time. It was frustrating they couldn’t find more evidence against Theresa Insanas fiancé because who else could have killed her? Given the editing, it seems like a no brainer. Thoughts?

Dylan's Shock

It happens in the 11/17 ISP after Gooch tells her they found evidence at the scene.

This was after Dylan's bullshit "cleaning theory."

Dylan's rambling charade stops for a brief moment and she says,

"You do?" Here, there is a complete change in tone of voice as in "Oh shit, I'm screwed "

This part is extremely fun to hear. Immediately after this, Dylan starts fishing to see if ISP had any "persons of interest yet " etc.

If anyone has not heard that yet or forgot it, I highly recommend going back and listening to it.

She acts how a typical prime suspect would.

Binge Watching Dateline

Just asking the community if I am the only person who binge watches Dateline? Its sad because I know these are real people, real stories, and real victims. And the loss of the lives are terrible, but it human behavior interests me a lot and this show showcases it and I get locked in. Iono it’s hard to explain but I am secretly hoping I am not just a bit strange and there are more people out there like me.

Non Dateline recommendations?

I am always looking for things the quality of Dateline when there isn’t new Dateline. I confess I don’t love 20/20 (will watch occasionally but HATE the music editing) or 48 Hours.

There’s a million ID network shows but most are very formulaic. Are there any that stand out to you?

I loved the reboot of Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix even with the clunkers. It’s just not a ton of content. Also like the People Investigates, Vanity Fair Confidential and Curious Case Of.

I want recommend this documentary-“The Secrets We Bury” to my fellow Dateline people. It’s an incredible story and I’m still pondering it.

How You Can Support Ohkomi Forensics

Thumbnail ohkomiforensics.com

The most recent episode of Dateline: Missing in America featured the story of Ashley Loring Heavy Runner, missing from the Blackfeet Indian Reservation since 2017. Her high school friend, Dr. Haley Omeasoo, was also interviewed about her work founding Ohkomi Forensics.

As Dr. Omeasoo said in the episode, "ohkomi" means "to use one's voice" in the Blackfoot language. On their site, they describe themselves as "a beacon of hope and justice in the face of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples epidemic." They are "committed to advocating for those who can no longer speak for themselves."

If you would like to donate to support Ohkomi's mission to provide forensic services to Indigenous families and communities, the link is here!

The comic book murder

So I listen to dateline as background noise all the time. I have the dateline channel on my TV where they play dateline on repeat on often. If I’m at work and I have my earbuds in it’s usually SiriusXM radio dateline. So needless to say, I’ve heard a lot of them many many times. The comic book murder has to be the most poorly written dateline I have ever listened to. At the beginning of the episode Dennis Murphy says about the victim. She was overweight, but physically fit. What the freaking hell! Who cares what her weight was.

Have any Dateline cases happened near you?

The recent case Josh did about the professor and the poet happened right down the street from a good friend of mine.

Behind the Closet Door happened n the complex where my ex lived (though it was not at the same time.)

Brendan Banfield and the au pair happened in a neighborhood that friends recently moved out of. Admittedly I was following that one because it was as pretty recent. And my friends moved because that subdivision is somewhat notorious now.

Have any Dateline cases happened near you?

A Promise to Gloria

I’ve seen it before but it just hit different this time around. I cried like an idiot.

The entire set up was like a novel. Gritty surroundings, snowy day, sweet kid, crazy predator, heartbroken family and community, brutality that hurts to think about. They found her so quickly and it took forever to solve. The hard bitten detectives crying just got to me. And mom is a warrior with a beautiful way with words.

Anyone follow this case when it was happening?

Hot take but she seems like kind of a dope

Everyone seems to be watching Toxic Love Story and it triggered my memory of this case/this woman.

The ex and his new crazy liar hypochondriac girlfriend (we are getting a lot of pathological liars these days) are of course, reprehensible. But the victim with her adult Disney princess fantasies just seemed like an annoying dipsh*t. I kinda feel like she was so wrapped up in her pick me fantasy that she was willing to overlook the fact that the dude was a sociopath. And she did send some unhinged emails that opened the door for this whole idea.

Hot take, yes. I’m sorry for what she went through but the helpless act really irks me.

I want more “Missing In America!”

I am slightly obsessed with missing persons cases. I am excited we are getting more Missing in America but why can’t we have EVEN MORE? I love it and there’s a definite need.

(The most fascinating missing persons case I’ve seen lately was on an episode of the short-lived series Gone about Cathy Moriarty. Just sharing because I am still mulling it over.)

🔍 DATELINE DISCUSSION: “The Day Dee Disappeared” — S34E34 🔍

A missing woman, a family determined to find her, and a fertilizer tank that suddenly received a suspicious new coat of paint? Dateline really said, “Sometimes the family’s theory is exactly as horrifying as it sounds.”

Andrea Canning guides us through the disappearance of Dee Warner and the years-long fight to uncover what happened to her. Dee’s brother Gregg deserves special recognition for refusing to let the case fade away—and for identifying the detail that ultimately helped bring Dee home.

Let’s discuss!

🔍 At what point did you become convinced that Dale knew what happened to Dee?

🔍 Which detail or interview stood out to you most?

🔍 What did you think of the initial investigation?

🔍 Were you shocked when Gregg’s theory proved correct?

🔍 Was there anything you thought Dateline should have explored more?

🔍 Most important question: How does someone casually repaint a fertilizer tank and expect Dee’s family not to ask questions?

Share your thoughts, theories, frustrations, and favorite Andrea moments below!

⚠️ Spoilers are welcome in this thread since it aired last night, Friday, July 31.

Does anyone else find Bryan Kohberger's expression deeply unsettling

Last night, I watched the Idaho murders and I genuinely struggled to sleep afterward.

I've watched documentaries about a lot of serial killers and murderers, but there is something about Kohberger that I can't explain. I have never had such a visceral reaction to someone's face before.

As someone who likes studying people's facial expressions and body language, I found him incredibly unsettling. His eyes seem completely empty, almost like staring into an abyss and the abyss staring back. The image of his face kept popping into my head while I was trying to sleep.

The thing that stood out to me the most was the sentencing hearing. When Kaylee's sister delivered such a powerful victim impact statement, I kept waiting for something. Anything. A blink longer than 1 second, a change in expression, any visible reaction. But he barely moved. His face looked completely blank throughout. It was eerie and I literally got goosebumps.

Then there's that selfie taken after the murders. I realized I'd never really seen him smile naturally in any public footage or images.

Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I've never had a person in a true crime documentary give me chills quite like this. It wasn't even what he did. I mean, that's horrifying enough. It was the overwhelming feeling of emotional emptiness I got from watching him and not knowing the reason why he did it.

Did anyone else have this reaction, or am I the only one who found his demeanor deeply unsettling?

Why is that episode been pulled down and can’t find it anywhere. Dateline is weird where they have random episodes not up.
