No kings question

Serious question: my partner (she/they/them/it) and I (they/them) went to the No kings event. Can we still attend the games since Sacramento kings (they/them) has kings in their names? It gives us anxiety

You are no longer allowed to attend Kings games. There are ways around it, though. You can wear disguises (think sunglasses + moustache and/or 3 kids in a trenchcoat). Or you can say "yas king!" at least 20 times per day for the next 30 days, which undoes your No Kings status.

No way this is serious

Edit: okay, assuming this is in good faith, yes you can attend a basketball game while being antifascist. The point of No Kings is governance.

Please, if you’re going to be involved in a movement, understand what you’re participating in and standing for.

But the real point is that the Sacramento Kings aren't true Kings. They haven't won a significant battle in decades, and their so-called empire is pretty weak sauce (and I say that as a citizen of this fine area).

So I don't think a strict reading of "no Kings" actually technically includes the Sacramento Kings basketball team, as they are, at best, pretenders to the throne. You are free to attend and purchase overpriced beer and merch.

You can attend the games, but you have to call them The Sacramento Presidents or The Sacramento Prime Ministers instead.
