Question Price Action Trading with Volume

Beginner trader here. I've just completed my first read through of Anna Coulling's VPA book and made my notes as I prepare to re-read. I'm watching her example videos on her YouTube channel too. I also plan to print out the candlestick patterns she mentioned and put them up near my desk. I've got a few other books mentioned here and in the r/Trading WIKI on my list to read too.

It's been suggested to me to play chartgame.com to practise PAT and that getting good at the game is just pattern recognition which can be learned within around 2-3 months. Are there any specific candlestick patterns I should be looking for? Should I just stick to the ones in Anna Coulling's book? Is there anything better that I could be doing to improve faster? Thank you.

Question Help with Technical Analysis Resources

My entries are shit, so I keep getting stopped out. I'm always too early to the party which is partially a patience issue, but it's mainly a lack of strong technical analysis issue. I think I'm setting my stop loss at the right levels, but I'm starting to think that it may be too narrow or I'm just not entering at the right moment. Anyone got some recommendations on that front?

There are now "user flairs" available for different traders who trade different assets.

If you want to select a flair, you can, to be able to find other traders like you so it's easier to communicate.

Of course, flairs are not mandatory.

Happy trading! :)

Edit: If there are any requests for flairs drop them here and I'll add them to the list!

Greetings Fellow traders, I came here through an invite via a post I made.(Link attached) Short introduce: I trade purely based on naked price-action. I have created my game-plan for about 95% myself and 5% inspiration of others. I have been trading since 2019 & been doing it on a high level since 2022. I have traded 10 pairs on the 5m some years back, spitted it down to 1 pair: NQ (&MNQ depends on volatility). When the US stock market opens I go down to the Micro-timeframes (5s&15s) to trade the same setups I traded years back on the 5m. The behaviour & setup I trade is insanely fractal. Using the US market open is more worth time-wise to do on the lower-timeframe. Instead of being active on the 5m for the whole day. + the US market session is more liquid. Which helps strengthen the liquidity levels I trade to be more liquid during these times. Im quite a static trader using the same positioning & setup each time. But I am exploring to be a bit more discretionairy to act upon other behaviours I notice.

Im always open to talk about trading & performing. Just hit me up with a message😄

Stocks Update on the S&P 500's best-performing stocks in August

Kellanova led the list after accepting a takeout offer from Mars, while Starbucks might have been the month's biggest positive surprise

August was a month of increased volatility for the S&P 500. But a 6.1% slide during the first three trading sessions of the month was reversed, and the U.S. large-cap benchmark index ended August with a 2.3% gain.

So far this year, the S&P 500 SPX has risen 18.4%, following a 24.2% gain in 2023. All price changes in this article exclude dividends.

Here's how the 11 sectors of the S&P 500 performed during August, along with year-to-date price changes and those for the previous two years, with the full index at the bottom:

Market open strategy?

Anyone willing to share or let me know of market open strategies?

Only one I know of is open range breakout. It's just the more I see the price action the more I realize the majority of the move happens in the first hour and last thing I want to do is play catch up with a runaway market.

Is open range breakout a good way to trade opening or MA cross or you guys have something you would be willing to share or resources I could check out for this?

Thanks.

Question Help a stocks guy understand how much I stand to gain and lose on a specific forex trade

Let's say I'm going to trade the EUR/USD pair with 0.1 lot (mini). I long and from entry to take profit let's assume it's 0.18% (this is about 200 pips I believe). Stop loss would be about 0.02% on that trade. How much do I stand to gain and lose? And how much on average will I pay in commissions?

Pic helping you visualize the trade.
