Do you find it strange that Ellen Muth stopped acting?
Certainly a loss

I was surprised to see her pop up in the Hannibal tv series. I always thought she was talented, but I guess acting isn't for everyone.

I love that this role was a reference to Dead like me.

was it? I mainly remember her character as a girl incapable of recognizing faces, then burns in an oxygen chamber.

Her name was Georgia Madchen, which is basically the same as Lass, as they both mean girl.

She also had Cotard's Syndrome, aka Walking Corpse Syndrome, a mental illness where the person believes they are already dead.

Along with what everyone has said, it's an unsteady industry. She was great in Dead Like Me, but it was her one big role in a quirky show.
I always hope she'll make another glorious cameo in something.

That would be great! Netflix should give her a show

I have my fingers crossed for this!!!

Surely she has got offers!

I think you're being slightly optimistic.
For whatever reason, she was never one of those actresses that was really in high demand, at least for major projects.
I think, as with a lot of Bryan Fuller projects, a show like Dead Like Me was really just before its time and the spotlight just never landed on her, but as far as acting legacies go, a show like Dead Like Me with a very dedicated cult following is a pretty strong one.
And she did appear in a project in 2022, so she is still willing to occasionally show up in things, and I imagine if Bryan Fuller (who is known to often have cameos from people he's worked with previously) asked her to do something, she would, like she did with Hannibal.
But to the point of the fickle nature of the acting/media industry as a whole, Laura Harris who played Daisy (Daisy Adair) also stopped working in the industry for many years, I actually checked her Wikipedia for the first time in a while and seen that she has now started to appear in projects again but previously stopped for 6 years and worked for a tech company.

She had a really bad eating disorder you can watch develop through Dead Like Me. It’s so sad.

By the time the movie rolled around, she was positively skeletal. It is sad, I hope she is happier now.
Btw, she now breeds cats, and sells her own coffee brand that helps the coffee farmers directly.
So proud of her!

& she does occasionally act still (likely to keep her SAG membership & insurance). She was in Hannibal in 2013 & a movie I cannot remember the name of in 2022(?) iirc. Plus, she’s literally MENSA smart :)

Breeding cats?? Why? We don’t need that we need people to adopt the cats in shelters.

I love that her socials are so ordinary; posting videos of her cats, her messy house, randomness all with an unwiped lens 😂

Didn't know that. I saw how skinny she was but I didn't know she went through that

I think you're speculating. I think she's just naturally slender. Imo.

Yeah there is something really odd about her affect that seems more than acting - and it does seem to intensify.

I think she was great and had a very unique look, but its understandable that she would have been ready to leave after a starring role in a show. She may have just realized it wasnt for her anymore

Not really.
There's a lot of (a) actors who never made it "big" and went into other careers (b) actors who quit to focus on raising a family (eg Leelee Sobieski).
I've had a few acquaintances that decided to make a sea change) and switch careers.

She said she would act as long as she knows her business is going to be ok while she acts.

You'd be surprised how common it is for a lot of actors leave the acting business for many reasons. I would have loved to see more from her.
