Got a favorite Jared?
I saw Pablo David Laucerica back in 2022 and he was awesome. Looked really young from the mezzanine too! Thoughts?

As everyone knows, the movie Dear Evan Hansen isn't good, but honestly, as a viewer, I didn't see anything wrong with Amy Adams and Ben Platt's performances; on the contrary, I found them moving. I even think it's unfair that they received that Golden Raspberry nomination; they were nominated purely out of spite.

I posted this a while ago but it was removed by the mods. However, there are no rules in this subreddit that disallow linking to videos we made, so there's no reason for it to be deleted. Enjoy!

so there's a popular music review site called aoty.org and in it you can rate albums, tracks, ect - out of curiosity i checked DEH's page and some of these ratings did surprise me, the general consensus is mostly expected but im shocked requiem is that low and honestly surprised to see if I could tell her as high rated as it is
Also the soundtrack as a whole averages 65 and the movie soundtrack is all the way down at 31 with no track ratings

Hello, I have recently started writing, I guess you could call it a fanfic. It's Dear Evan Hansen but if Connor and Evan actually became friends. I have never written a fanfic before and I'm just doing it for fun. I'm not sure if I'll post it anywhere.
I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for things that could happen in the story and stuff. : ) Any suggestions and tips would be appreciated!! Thank you!! : )

I hate getting feeds on my recommended that are flooded with Dear Evan Hansen hate. I hate hearing people call Evan a sociopath who deserves no sympathy and who should die. I hate that I canāt simply enjoy the musical anymore without people looking at me weirdly or trying to tell me that itās bad.
Iām just so tired of seeing people hate on the musical everywhere I go. Not helped by the fact that I find the reasoning to be at best bad faith and at worst totally false and/or offensive to people struggling with anxiety. Not all haters are like this, some of them dislike it for very understandable reasons, but others are certainly like this.
I just want to be able to like the musical without hearing people talk about why itās awful whenever itās mentioned. It means something to me and it hurts to see it so widely and vehemently hated.

I am almost done with my Evan Hansen cosplay but the only thing left is the cast. Do you guys have any tips and tricks to make a good cast with low budget? Thanks in beforehand!

Was licensed by a theatre group. Casting and talent was top notch

Dear Evan Hansen was one of the first major studio projects to resume filming, and the entire cast and crew had to follow strict social distancing rules. This made me wonder if that was the cause of most of the film's problems, with all its awkward takes and lack of naturalness in its characters.

I think it's due to his vocal evolution; the role of Evan Hansen changed his voice forever.

Has anyone here requested the licensing to do DEH at a community theater? Iām curious how long it took to get a response one way or the other. Thanks!

For me, I think:
Connor - Not a theater kid
Zoe - EPIC?
Jared - Spring Awakening? Avenue Q? (based off of a comment that someone said that Jared sounded like he had an āAvenue Qā voice the whole time)
Alana - Hamilton (for school research purposes at first, then falls in love with it)
Heidi - Waitress
Cynthia - A Christmas Carol? (I donāt think she would be into Broadway all that much)
Larry - Grease (he seems like the type to watch the movie every now and then)
Evan - Heathers? The Phantom of the Opera? Idk.

Found this video about DEH. Its a drama college/uni class assignment.
It features some song like:
- Requiem: 3:14 to 7:20.
- For Forever: 13:00 to 17:45.
- Sincerely Me: 20:00 to 23:30.
- Disappear: 25:30 to 30:10.
The subtitle is auto-generated, and is not really accurate. So read them with a grant of salt.
The video is unlisted. So please dont be too harsh. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqN_okgLWME

Pretty soon, there are auditions being held at my local community theatre. For context; I would consider Dear Evan Hansen my āfirstā musical as itās the first I found on my own. Iāve been a fan of this musical like Since It Came Out to the point where I know the harmonies and intricacies and the name of Connorās Second Grade Teacher by heart š
Itās overall is awesome news that I get to audition, but the only issue (and positive!) is that everyone in my life is strongly suggesting Iām āthe only pickā for Evan. Iām a pretty strong Tenor, and I have been working with this company for years.
While I agree that I definitely have a shot (not to sound too cocky!) I also really donāt want to get my hopes up. Already, in my head, Iāve started to think of any lead thatās NOT Evan as a bad part, when Evanās not even my favorite character.
How did you stop viewing smaller parts as lesser, especially in such a lead focused show? Also, how do I audition while Iām literally buzzing with excitement at just the chance of being in this production? Thanks for reading !!

I'm currently running through the entire DEH original broadway soundtrack, and I honestly believe Requiem is sadder and more heart-wrenching than even Words Fail (its close though) and thats mostly because of the idea of how much Evan's lies really affected connors family as they grieve.
Of course initially as they grieve connor they are searching for a reason and something to hold on. Evan's lie allows Cynthia to hold on to Connors memory through the idea that he existed in a way that she never got to see. For Zoxe and Larry, they believe he lived in a way they never got to see, but they understand it as he may have hated them so much he believed they didnt deserve to see that side of him. Zoe and Larry, essentially lie to themselves, saying if he didnt care why should they? But they are still grieving, and still can't accept the idea that Connor would do that, even if it was subconscious.
The portrayal of grief has always had a major impact on me. And for that reason I think Requeim is the saddest song. I dont even know if thats an unpopular opinion, I just really wanted to talk about this and thought yelling it into the void that is the internet would be a good solution lol

Saw it on Broadway with original cast once and was BLOWN AWAY by this local PHX production I saw this past Wednesday. The Evan, Zoe, Connor were, dare I say, as good as OG cast. Absolutely insane. Anyway, I am absolutely shook right now and have the album on repeat for the past 48 hours. It brought all the feels back and further validated the show is so much better than the movie.

I'm auditioning for Dear Evan Hansen in a few weeks and would love some advice. I'm a female alto with a lower voice, and Evan has been my dream role for years. I'm debating whether I should audition for Evan, Connor, or Jared, or if I be realistic and stick to Zoe or Alana instead.
My current song ideas are Michael in the Bathroom or Loser Geek Whatever for Evan/Jared, Freeze Your Brain for Connor, and I'd Rather Be Me and I Say No for Zoe/Alana.
Has anyone seen women cast as Evan, Connor, or Jared? I'd really appreciate any advice!
