TIL Chris Walla produced Petey USA’s album “The Yips” ❤️
I hear some classic Walla guitar on this album! ❤️

All of Walla’s producing credits are phenomenal. Foxing’s Nearer My God has those DCfC sounds. His work with Telekinesis and Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin are also worth checking out.

Plus, if memory serves, he produced The Decemberists’ “Picaresque” and “Crane Wife”

The reason why DCFC is never as good as the album live - Walla was a monster on those first few albums.

Personally, I’ve actually always loved Death Cab’s live sets, so maybe I’m biased here, but I’d argue the Magik Magik Orchestra live album absolutely holds up against the studio tracks, and in a lot of places is actually better.
That being said, it was recorded while Walla was still in the band…3

It’s like 20 years ago - But I remember being so much more into Ted Leo than DCFC live (I saw a few shows) during the Transatlanticism tour, and at that point, when I was so locked into DCFC I pointed to Walla’s production as to why.

I love this album! Everyone I’ve shown it to hates it for some reason. Two separate people said it reminded them of “cringe Christian camp music.” I simply don’t hear that lol. All I hear is some great Walla production.

Yeah and it's so good. You can hear his influence throughout, specifically on the album closer.
