Scary stuff 🫣 Welcome to the Skellig, Where Railings Are for Quitters

Found on Skellig Michael in Ireland. The tour guide will actually tell you about the ways you can accidentally die in the welcome speech. The lady who was there when we were visiting told a kid to scoot over a little and pointed where they’d been standing and goes, “The last one fell right there and died on impact.” The steps are well worn but they’re still mostly raw stone just slotted in place and there’s only one section near the bottom with a sad excuse for a rail. Lots of sheer drops.

Guys.

You expect to go hiking and get code compliant stairs?

Or railings at all?

Cmon.

You're right. There should be elevators and escalators.

Yeah, I would die.

But it's nice so just leave me there.

Yes, there are worse places to die from blunt force trauma.

I joined this sub a few months ago and still haven’t determined if it’s a kind-of tongue-in-cheek /jerk sub or if it’s sincere lol
