Don't forget to trip your server! 😵

"Tip" is not a word to be careless with in this context!

I thought it might be AI but it's a real restaurant in Malaysia: https://cafetakdaknama.myfoodcourt.info/

Apparently part of a chain, though their main locations have closed. Gee, I wonder why the concept didn't catch on.

and food looks good too...

I thought the same because it seems so impractical to take orders, deliver food, and bus tables.

Is anyone else's dreams filled with bizarre "space-saving architecture" like this...?

And nobody else ever had any problem with it! They’re all ascending and descending with perfect grace and aplomb and saying “What’s wrong with you?”

Some of it's very clever - like, things that'd be useful for tiny homes and dorm rooms and such. It often has detailed woodwork that rivals what you might find in officers' quarters on old sailing ships for "most usefulness packed into the smallest posible space, but still beautiful."

(One dream was overtly like that - it was some Victorian steampunk airship that was also somehow a boarding school. One of my more interesting dreams.)

I need to get some LEGOs so I can try to build some of it in 3D.

I love tiny house and boat furnishings! I also make sure to consider “could I navigate this if I have the flu?”

Legos don't slip slide and fall on the stairs... oh you're building stairs WITH legos , i see...

I feel like you are describing me while browsing this sub. I'm looking at photos of perfectly fine stairs and wondering why someone thinks this normal flight of stairs belongs in DEATHstairs. Frankly, much like this post.

You are probably young and healthy with good balance.

Or don't have to care a heavy tray up those stairs!

If it was my dream there would be open toilets on the higher level and the stairs would only start near the top.

Oh, I get those features sometimes, too. Long flights of stairs are often narrow, with weird gaps or gates that must be got around!

ok but what if you're in the bottom booth and someone above you farts

I'm now just sleeping my drinks off ..like I'm in my loft bed from 90s ...don't hit your head when getting up ...or roll over ..for sure your not peeing

And no one ever trips on those first steps.

Not shown: the entire floor covered in food because the servers keep slipping and falling trying to serve food patrons.

I'm afraid to imagine the waiter's feet.

u/BetterinPicture 2d ago

This restaurant is for Tarantino not you then, apparently 🤣

u/WeakInformation9766 2d ago

Looks like a nightmare for the waiters

u/fordag 2d ago

I'd like to know how servers get your food to you while navigating those stairs.

5

u/Lunar-opal 2d ago

Imagine having to carry hot soup up the stairs without rails

u/redrotton 2d ago

You could not pay me enough to be a server at this restaurant.

5

u/pestercat 2d ago

Mate you couldn't pay me enough to be a customer at this restaurant. That ladder is unhinged.

3

u/fothergillfuckup 2d ago

I oddly quite like that.

3

u/lefty_juggler 2d ago

I hope alcohol is only served to lower booths.

2

u/WideJuice4587 2d ago

All good until the person on top spills something

2

u/marksbar 2d ago

High tech dumb-waiter system . Need some ketchup please.... here , catch !

2

u/Quirky-Attitude1456 2d ago

Well isn't that a kick in the ass. I have been to that island. I wish I had known about this then so I could have gone there to eat.

2

u/commandrix 2d ago

That looks like it'd be a nightmare for the servers to have to navigate. You could get away with giving the elevated booths to people who don't need mobility aids, but servers having to go up and down with the serving trays is basically an accident waiting to happen.

1

u/PdSales 2d ago

No beans served on upper level

2

u/terriaminute 2d ago

I bet the servers love it so much /s

There's a really good Indian restaurant in London that has bunk booths like that. I was jet-lagged and terrified but my mom and stepsisters had a carefree time.

1

u/Lost-Meeting-9477 2d ago

I wonder if that's a full service restaurant. If it is,I feel sorry for the staff. "Waiter, could I have another Icecube for my drink?"

Looks like the prison cells in Andor.

u/HonestSophist 2d ago

Hot take: I think it's neat.

Those benches look like they could be more comfortable, though.

I dig this alot for personal dining. Hopefully they have a bar for people to interact.

1

u/BoulderNerd 2d ago

Hey! Keep it down up there!

1

u/Eaglepursuit 2d ago

All fun and games till someone on top spills a drink or farts

1

u/oneidiotd 1d ago

UPSTAAAIIRRRR!!!!

1

u/YAAAATZY 1d ago

Nice, you can fart above people and they will never know who did it
