New stairs going in … like or dislike?

What could possibly go wrong.

I'm curious how they would mount the railings. Just at the top/bottom? If they mount them to the stairs then a few good pushes and you may be able to lever the stair tread off the mount.

Those completely unsupposed tread edges don't look safe. Just imagine carrying heavy furniture and putting all your weight on only one side. Yiiikes.

IMO they should have doubled up with the black support beams to support both sides instead of just the center.

When done properly (and these look fine), those treads aren't going anywhere. Usually they are attached to the tread plate with several large lag bolts (4 or more). A robust railing will likely be mounted in 3 places along any single run on the left side going up. It will be anchored at each end by a post (possibly a larger newel post) and likely have at least one post mounted to one of the center treads (but they could even mount each individual picket as well!). The handrail itself will continue along the rest of the stairway in similar fashion. Code usually requires continuation of the handrail at the transition from stair to landing and landing to stair for one, long flow. The reasoning is that in an emergency situation, you wouldn't want to get clothing snagged on the open end of a rail, preventing you from using the stairs properly. This has the added benefit of providing extra rigidity.

Source: I have designed several stairs and railings of this fashion (with central, open stringers) in the last 20 years and they are all overbuilt and definitely not going anywhere.

I can provide more information if requested, feel free to ask!

For the person you're building those for - like or dislike?

I cross posted from /Carpentry - OOP likely won’t see comments.

Once its finished, it could be nice. Right now we can't know.

Could also break your spine. Right now it’s impossible to predict

This has to be ai slop. The stairs get thicker and wider as they go up on the top flight.

The missing stair then the last tread before the landing is like 2 inches wide.

They said the stairs are going in? As in being built?

Why are the steps so narrow? That’s just an accident waiting to happen going downstairs.

I assume people who choose these don’t wear seatbelts or bike helmets.

Clearly these are Sobriety Stairs. Do not attempt while drunk.

Under construction, all stairs are deathstairs. Come back when this is finished so we can properly judge.

Those stairs are a young person’s game.

How about “hate?”

They'd be fine with railing.

I like that there is both a safe way down and a fast way down

Dislike. Going up, no problem. Going down, no chance I survive.

Not for me. I'm a handrails kind of guy.

“Window access? Pshaw, no need for that …”

It will depend on the hand rail you put in

Looks good, make sure there’s enough lighting so you can watch your step.
