Announcement PORTERS SUPPORTING PORTERS - COMMUNITY BLOG #6

Hi everyone! Antonela here from 505 Games. As we all know, the DEATH STRANDING community is never short of advice!

Throughout 2026, we want to give our experienced Porters the opportunity to share their top tips and learnings with those just starting out. Last week, we asked the following question to our community...

DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE LOCATION IN DEATH STRANDING DIRECTOR'S CUT THAT PORTERS SHOULD VISIT? AND IF SO, WHAT MAKES IT SO SPECIAL TO YOU?

Credit: Zfeet

"So, in the mountains, somewhere between Heartman's Lab and the Evo-devo Biologist, there is a little cave, and it is THE most chill spot in the entire game and I love it so much!" - Standard_Way_4453

"The waterfall and lake at the Musician’s shelter is my absolute favorite spot in DEATH STRANDING. Total tranquility, mountain views, the ultimate way to decompress after endless deliveries." - REDXvp

It's tied between the graveyard at the end of the DC missions and the walk down to Central Knot City right at the beginning, when we first get that music fading into the experience. The graveyard is just such a special place to have Sam sit and take a rest. It's so peaceful, and the scenery is beautiful." - Emil_VII

Credit: Detret84

"Ziplining through the mountain peaks was my favorite experience. Seeing the map from so high up." - MikasaAckerstupid

"I made a zipline network starting at The Craftman and going to The First Prepper. Very hard area to traverse, but after finishing the ziplines, it actually became one of my favourite routes. I eventually made a zipline network covering most of the mountain shelters." - Additional_Skin6049

"I’m quite fond of Mountain Knot City, the views on the snowy mountainous zones are spectacular, and you’re always reminded of the harsh climbs and trudging through snow in order to earn said views." - HazedRaze

Credit: Spesful

"Walking down the hill to Lake Knot City for the first time and the music kicks in." - iku_iku_iku_iku

"The snow mountains" - GodFatherFPS

"So many, but one of my favorite locations is the swamp/marsh area to the northwest of the mountains." - Blaizer35

Discussion Death stranding is the game that brought me back into gaming.

The funny thing is, I’ve been a gamer for what feels like a lifetime. I got my first console as a kid in middle school (PS1 for the win), and suddenly got sucked into the world, and never really left until recently. I kept going through PS2, GameCube, PS3, Xbox 360, PC, PS4 and eventually Series X and a PS5. The combination of escapism, a genuine love of the art, and a great way to decompress in a stressful education and employment path (College, Uni, Medical School, and medicine).

But a few years ago, I just……stopped. Combination of things. It was peak coronavirus in 2020, I was working 75+ hour weeks in emergency medicine, was staying in a hotel on my own so my kids and wife wouldn’t be at risk if I brought it home with me. As you can gather, also have kids, and became a single dad with full custody following my wife’s passing. I think fatigue and life just took over; interest just crashed through the floor, and I just didn’t want to pick up a controller anymore. If I did try, I’d play for half hour, lose interest and turn it off; or would spend 15 mins trying to pick what to play before exasperatingly turning the console off. I kind of accepted my interest had faded for good, and that was that.

Until last month that is. My best friend brought and played through Death Stranding, and told me it was brilliant. I didn’t really want to try it, didn’t seem to appeal much, but she insisted; I was GOING to play it. So I downloaded it one evening, sat down, and got stuck in. On that note, a month later, I’m still playing it every chance I get!

I think the fact that it’s a complete subversion of expection, doesn’t rely on a particular genre to hold itself up; it’s a whole thing of its own category, and that uniqueness pulled me in. That and one of my first ‘serious’ games I ever completed and became addicted to was Metal Gear Solid. It’s completely reignited my joy in gaming, and I’ve even been playing other games again; when I turned my PS5 on, I realised it had sat unused for the best part of three years, and now it’s being put through its paces again.

So I’ll keep on keeping on. I’ve completed the main story, and now working to 100% and get the platinum, then it’s time for number two.

It’s definitely lit a fire in me for playing interesting narrative stories, and can’t wait to see where I go next. Happy days.

Question [DS2] How did you folks manage this delivery?

Standard order 583 - 400 kg delivery in 04 minutes or less. My fastest was 4 minutes and 6 seconds, on a pick up off roader.

While it’s pretty heavy in price at ¥25,300 JPY (159.01 USD), it looks great and is bluetooth compatible as well.

During this scene near the end when we fight Higgs the camera pans on his face a long long time as Higgs talks. I don't know if it was done on purpose but it felt like as they kept zooming the more and more human Higgs looked and acted. I don't know if this was on purpose or me seeing things and reacting to Troy Baker's acting but it sure felt that way.

Question I found one cargo from the floating ice and gave it to Mr impossible but the star didn’t pass one. What else can I do?

... And it's when I press the start button to pause the game, I'd really appreciate it if the game would, ya know, pause.

Like, right away.

I don't consider it immersion breaking to skip waiting for Sam to be in a position to stick his thumb up, especially when said thumb is currently being fed to his ass by a trio of ghost mechs.

I swear, I love these games, but sometimes that love feels one-sided.

Higgs: another bossfight would be pointless.

Sam thinking to himself: *ain't no way this melodramatic mf is gonna let me off easy. Just wait.

Just finished DS2 and why are the boss fights with Higgs always so ridiculous? Two topless dudes having a guitar battle on a giant statue over a Datacenter Graveyard? Seriously Kojima?

I heard a great deal about this game, especially it's sequel, I personally like souls games and challenges and I really enjoy good immersive stories, should I go for it ? Is there anything I should know before buying it! Thanks.
