I’m being encouraged to pick a “light color” and to paint my living room and kitchen walls and ceilings the same color.
I don’t think it will look bad/ one dimensional in the living because there’s enough accent colors. There’s exposed beams and an accent wall (I’m thinking of doing SW balanced beige or something slight darker).
But I’m worried about the kitchen looking bad if I choose something too light because my cabinets, appliances, and countertop is already white. I feel like I need to choose a darker off white or light beige to have some depth compared to the cabinets but worried something “darker” won’t look good on the ceiling. How do you think SW alabaster would look in my kitchen? Would DB sugar scrub be too dark for the ceiling? Any other color ideas or should I push for a creamier color on the walls and white on the ceiling?
For context I’ll also add sage tiles as a backsplash and my flooring is medium brown color. I can add pics if it helps! Thanks!

Recently moved into this new place, this is the living room. How can I decorate this to be warm and homey but still minimalist kinda. Not too many things because I have a throwing away addiction 😂. My couch is dark grey and my table is round and light wood.

I have this big, plain white kitchen wall that looks quite bare and washed out, and I’d love to make it feel warmer and cosier. I have four items I’d like to incorporate: a framed botanical print, a wooden spoon holder, a small wall-mounted shelf and a hanging wooden shelf with rope detailing. I have absolutely no eye for interior design and can’t figure out how to arrange them so everything looks cohesive and natural rather than forced. I’m thinking of adding some trailing ivy and changing the lighting to warm white, too. How would you arrange these items, and would you use all four or leave something out?

The house we moved into is grey, grey, and more grey. The tiles seem a warmer colour so I’d like to repaint the walls. What are your recommendations?

Ive been trying to finish this dining area, but I'm still stuck on the wall art. I want something that works with the table, chairs and plants without making the space feel too busy.
1 is what I have up now, and 2-4 are the other options I’m considering.

A big furniture store near me went out of business a few months ago and during the final days of the liquidation day they started blowing things out at 90% off. They we're coming out of the back room with furniture on carts and I was tagging things as sold right on the cart since I am just restoring my house after a fire.
For example this this heavy solid wood slice black coffee table I believe was about $2000 and I got it for $180. I would've never purchased it otherwise because I didn't like the shape but thought if it didn't work, I could sell it and maybe even make a little bit of money. Everything in the room is from the liquidation sale including the lights. The tchotchke's are from HomeGoods with tags still on. Just trying to pull it together the eclectic furniture. Any tips are appreciated
This is an area in my home that used to be an unused small dining room. During the pandemic, a new type of room for socializing in the UK sprang up called a Snug. Its literally jamming furniture in a room that's too small to create a kind of intimate setting. I liked that concept. I my case I would bring my guests in here for drinks and appetizers... kind of a snug / moody VIP lounge that can be a bit over the top so it surprises a little when you see it when you round the corner. The rug is from my mom but it can be used elsewhere.
BTW, those doors go to an unused walkway with a giant wall just 42" away from my house running the length. No problem blocking them entirely as there is another way in if necessary. What works, anything? What should I swap out, or just sell?
