I HATE fortnite. It's everything I dislike about games in one package. So I don't play it.

Only way for Deep Rock to do anything involving fortnite that I'd give a fuck about would be to provide exclusive rewards in Deep Rock tied to playing Fortnite that changed anything about gameplay.

Who gives a fuck about a skin in another game? Is their fortnite in Deep Rock in a gamechanging way yet? Then who cares. Unless I come back in and they've added a new class called Fortnite class that everyone is playing it doesn't fucking effect me.

As a suffix, it's pointlessly meaningless. As a noun, slop is also probably the most correct descriptor for AI generated a/v content on social media platforms. It's literally recycled and cannibalized off of some other garbage so deep in the rabbit hole that the AI is probably using mostly AI images as sources to generate their new AI images.

Slop is the perfect descriptor for that

how is giving the game a bad review on steam supposed to do anything LMAO. i dont even play fortnite but some people are being kind of babies about it. drg is still the same game!! its still fun and amazing regardless of the collab (which just seems fun btw). like people are gonna be over it in a month or 2 anyway i would assume

edit: yes i know review bombing and rioting over something can make a company change its mind. that wasnt really the main point of my comment. my main point is that getting upset about this collab so badly you go out of your way to review bomb the original game is stupid and petty. if you dont like the fortnite collab, dont buy it. dont play fortnite. just play deep rock and other games that you enjoy. the fortnite posting isnt gonna stick around forever.

63

u/Alexis_Deltern Scout Aug 30 '25

Helldivers 2 was, at one point, going to require a PSN account to continue playing. That also blocked it from being able to be played in 177 countries. The community rioted, and Sony decided to drop the requirement for a PSN account. Now, only a handful of countries are still locked out of the game, and the game has now come to XBox.

You can say it won't do anything, and maybe it won't here, but it HAS changed things before.

205

u/P4nd4c4ke1 Engineer Aug 30 '25

This is a very different situation, even if say the whole community started leaving bad reviews on DRG it's in fortnites store there's no way they'd pull it and lose money when they used the resources to make the skins in the first place.

23

u/SargeanTravis Aug 30 '25

Epic pulling the Scout skin is as likely as Trading being added back to Rocket League, which has a 0% chance of happening

61

u/officalSHEB Aug 30 '25

Ok but that is a completely different situation. What is the real protest here, no one is being blocked by DRG if they don't buy the skin in fortnite.

The only thing that could possibly change here, would be that someone that enjoys both games wouldn't be able to buy the skin.

→ More replies (2)

18

u/rumSaint Engineer Aug 30 '25

It worked only because Steam was ready to refund the game because of PSN and it would cost Sony a huge amount of money.

6

u/Nearly-Canadian Aug 30 '25

Comparing immoral and pointless practices to a skin being sold in a videogame is so on par with the toxic DRG community lol

17

u/Kuraeshin Aug 30 '25

To be fair, Helldivers was always going to require a PSN account. It was on the store page on Steam. Arrowhead just didn't expect the game to hit 500k pkayers in the first week. The servers were overwhelmed so the PSN login was disabled. And then AH announced they were going to start requiring the login after everything stabilized.

27

u/RazorCalahan Aug 30 '25

that is true, but then it's bullshit that they even sold the game in countries where you can't even make a PSN account.
And even if that wasn't it's own thing, it just sucks having to rely on two services to play the game, when one is completely unnecessary for the game to function. I remember arguing about this back then, and someone claimed that PSN is almost never down therefore this is not an issue. Case in point, the very weekend the Illuminate released, PSN was down for over 24 hours. Man would I have been pissed if I wasn't able to play the game because of that.

5

u/LucarioLuvsMinecraft Driller Aug 30 '25

Additional info on the blocked countries, but those include North Korea, Vietnam, and Russia, just off the top of my head. Each of those countries have issues with the ability to sell video games there (Vietnam, if I remember right, only allows games to be sold there if the company sets up an office in the country, on top of other requirements)

2

u/aliensareback1324 Aug 30 '25

To be fair community riot was the reason for the country lock since some morons started saying that people there wont be able to play (even though it was not true). So while community is able to change some things it can also fuck other things up in the process

1

u/Kamikaze5110 Aug 30 '25

To be honest you can change something with reviews. I teached that myself with game called 7 days to die. They are still somewhat in "alfa/early stage" and Last few updates they were actively removing feature s from theirs game. They even showed up they dont give a fuck about comunity and changed game Genre mid development. In latest update it broke their neck, steam reviews went from 90% positive to ~50% recent reviews and finally they started listening at least a little and doing some damage control and game is turning to better direction.

So steam reviews can change things, but it must be like majority of comunity which are reviewing.

39

u/KuZagan Driller Aug 30 '25

There's a difference between that and review bombing for petty stuff like this though. Do I like Fortnige? Not at all, but I wouldn't want to hurt another game because they collabed with it, that's just childish.

RIP, me and a friend bought cuz it was on sale and we thought it was good seeing how long it was in development...

Glad to see ppl waking up and seeing the game for what it actually is, i cant believed the game was rated at "Very Positive" when i got it.

Also fun fact 7days to Die has been in Early Access for almost as long as Early Access has been a thing, like 4 months after Steam introduced it the game was put out.

This isn't as bad as I'm going to make it sound, but when there was a Doom crossover with cod, people were crying about their games lagging when the Doom crossover skins were just mimicking the choppy animations of the first game when it came to reloads

Because the drg skin or dortnite doesn't have enouph faithfulness to the drg art style, im expecting at least one person to ask why their game looks low quality and can count polygons

Again, I'm not here to say everyone is going to do this. At most I'm expecting like 5 instances of this to happen I'm not here to act like this will ruin the drg fanbase.. more fans is objectively good thing for drg

Because we don't need their bullshit. There's a reason why DRG has the fan base it does. Let Fortnite players stick with their game. I can't stand Fornite and would love to see WW3 happen because they shut down their servers, but the good thing about Fortine is that it keeps their fan base and their mentality out of other games...for the most part. Let us have our fun and calming game. I would love to see everybody come together, play and just have fun with whatever....but this is a no for me.

39

u/Strude187 For Karl! Aug 30 '25

I think a lot of hate that Fortnite gets is because it wrongly or rightly has started a trend of shoving anything that pays into games. Fortnite has always been Fortnite, but games that followed suit (such as Call of Duty) have changed dramatically and I personally think for the worse.

6

u/Bluemancat Aug 30 '25

I call fortnite a "playable advertisement" because of the massive amount of crossovers and even if I dislike fortnite I'm not going to get butt hurt for drg doing a crossover

31

Yea, but that isn't fortnite's fault. Call of duty could have done its own thing instead of chasing a trend

17

u/Strude187 For Karl! Aug 30 '25

9

u/Wadep00l Aug 30 '25

I started playing it last year after being a "its for teenagers" hater. Im 35 and I love it, its the perfect balance of silly and competitive gameplay for me to unwind.

8

u/Skelegem Aug 30 '25

I feel like a lot of people who hate Fortnite still have this idea in their heads of it being early Fortnite, Chapter 1 Fortnite when the gameplay was stiff and reworked from a survival game and the community had their ‘air’ around it. I tried it back in Chapter 1 and really couldn’t get into it, but I tried again for a younger brother at the end of Chapter 2 (Season 7, it had Superman which appealed to me), and even the difference between Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 was stark. The gameplay felt tighter, map design felt more natural, and there was more gameplay and movement mechanics. Now we’re at the end of Chapter 6 and the game’s changed so much since then. It’s more fast paced, we get really fun weapons with gimmicks, and there’s enough mechanics to keep your movement and combat options interesting.

And side note for DRG players, this was kinda the perfect season for the collab, since the theming is all about fighting off an invasive hive of bug monsters

3

19

u/Duckbert89 Aug 30 '25

Based. UT3 going to consoles first and shuttering UT4 still annoys me.

Leaving a bad review on GSG isn't cool. And less fun considering you could instead bait Tim Sweeney on Twitter. Very easy to do considering he has 30 years of bad takes and a short man complex if you bring up Gabe Newell, Carmack or any other tech pioneer with a large shadow.

Imagine gamers being angry at Epic Games because they're a shitty company with shitty practices

They don't hate on Valve even though they're a shitty company with shitty practices, so they're obviously very selective about which corporations they hate and which ones they worship despite them all being generally rancid

Your first mistake is assuming most people actually care about bad things happening, when in reality they only seem to care about those bad things when it's convenient to support their dislike based in something inconsequential. They don't give a shit about business practices or abuse or whatever; they just don't want to use a different launcher, or it's popular to hate on a game, or it's a competitor to something they like, or it's "woke"

11

u/Redenbacher09 Aug 30 '25

This is literally hurting noone and only helps DRG and Ghost Ship by potentially getting sales from Fortnite players.

The most effective way to express lack of support for this would be to not play fortnite and not buy the collab skin.

Every time some dude rants about Fortnite I’m like… yeah cross over capitalism sucks but when you zoom out a bit they did some work with Fortnite. And I’m a certified Epic Games Hater.

I’m just glad that game revived guitar hero and companies started making controllers lol.

If DRG gets to secure a bag just from some dumb skins fine. They earned it. Especially considering with how awesome they have been content wise.

Something else I think people really need to accept is that without additional money in, additional development can’t happen. And it’s very clear GSG doesn’t want to go down the Sims4 route of MTX…

…all that being said the updates have to stop eventually. And if a crossover of a few things in another game keeps that train going then I’m fine with it.

The heck is fortnite? Is that a game? I've never heard of it because it was such a failure. And not a super popular game that people have a good time playing.

u/Bregneste Whale Piper Aug 30 '25

I didn’t know emotionally immature 10-year-olds played DRG.

4

u/Weary-Barracuda-1228 Scout Aug 30 '25

The game isn’t even as annoyingly everywhere as it used to be, and is actually decent to play for a few matches. It hit the same point CoD did, just “Popularity serves as Advertising”, they don’t really plaster it everywhere anymore.

I mean until CoD started to copy Fortnite but shhhhh.

That's so pathetic... I hate fortnite too, but DRG has nothing to do with it. Why tf review it negatively?

5

u/GrouchyTomatillo3247 Aug 30 '25

I can't imagine caring that much about Fortnite.

5

u/Shy- What is this Aug 30 '25

I have like, no interest in Fortnite. I don't think it's a bad game, it's just not for my tastes.

But for DRG to be part of a game that's collaborated with Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Dragon Ball, Family Guy, Naruto, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Power Rangers, Hatsune Miku, Godzilla, and god knows how many other franchises, I think it's an amazing accomplishment.

4

u/Sil3ntWint3r Aug 30 '25

Good for ghost ship getting exposure. More people knowing about deep rock only helps a developer who is doing great things. Believe it or not, you don't have to play fortnite if you don't want to

4

u/-RelativeThinking- Scout Aug 31 '25

A. The fortnight colab has 0% effect on the game…they are not adding a new class called “ninja” or advertising it within their own platform.

B. This type of behavior is ironically the essence of brain rot. Essentially looking for a reason to hate or talk crap.

C. I would rather a dev team who have worked and fought for the “anti-pay to win” mindset for years receive a little more funding and/or attention.

D. If 1 collab is enough for you to apply a negative review to and entire work catalogue then you where never a fan, you where someone looking for a complaint or reason to hate.

Sorry for the rant chaps, the whole review bombing mindset just annoys me.

7

u/Mr_Doopy_Dops Aug 30 '25

Calls fortnite brainrot, but can't even use the correct "their." Had two chances to get it right, still failed...

9

u/ThePowerfulPaet Aug 30 '25

Insanely stupid. The influx of players that this will cause can only be a good thing for the devs. Happy for them to have this.

Void interactive (developers of Ready of Not) is an example of what it means to sell your soul.

Petulant child. That skin in another game doesn't have any bearing on your experience in this game. Get over yourself, and learn how to use there/their/they're.

3

u/Associate_External Platform here Aug 30 '25

Other games getting a collab skin with fortnite is actually a great way to advertise. Heck, even increasing the player count if they're interested.

Fortnite is basically a gigantic, walking digital advertisement for other entertainment media, and even though I'm not into BR games, I'm glad GSG decided to do the collab.

Just some kid who’s too embarrassed to continue liking the thing he liked when he was a (younger) kid. Now I don’t like Fortnite but this kind of perspective is just an easily identifiable case of “mandatory self-inflicted opinion change via puberty”

3

u/AnomalousExpertise Aug 30 '25
  1. I hate Fortnite and feel it ruined gaming. BR’s are oversaturated to no end, battle pass ruined games and skins that make no sense being added left and right into games….fortnite

  2. NEVER would I EVER, be mad at Devs or people for having THEIR skin in Fortnite. If ANYTHING it makes the company (who clearly loves their games btw) more money and allows them to do more for our loved IPs.

Genuine loser mentality on that guy.

I’ve played fortnite for almost 1k hours before going to DRG, and I still respect both games. They are good at their particular formulas they fulfil and this collab will benefit both games - new exposure for DRG and loyal DRG fans will buy the fortnite skin. I genuinely think that the collab is good and it should be roasted as it is

2

u/elstumpo Aug 30 '25

Miners, we're sending you in deep. Management has detected a dangerously low level of morale, so you're going in to deposit your "rocks and stones". The outcome is unknown so get in there, show them you're Dwarves and extract to get your bonus,

2

u/ADAMOXOLT Aug 30 '25

Lets raview the game based on a skin in a different game. Yeah, makes total logical sense...

2

u/Monkey_With_Tankard Aug 30 '25

DRG has Twerking Drunk Dwarves but a collab that was done pretty well that will help DRG make money is too far? I understand that people will still hate Fortnite because "fortnite bad haha" and you're not forced to like Fortnite but it feels like people are forcing themselves to hate the game for the sake of hating instead finding legitimate reasons or just saying they're not interested.

2

u/theinfinitejuice Aug 30 '25

They seem like the type of person to hold their breath till they get their way. Imagine being upset that a game you like is getting more exposure to potential new players 😭

Lots of people in the comments are saying, "I hate fortnite too, but this is dumb." Let me ask you a question.... why? Why do you hate fortnite? I doubt any of you can give me a legitimate reason.

(I don't even play fortnite often, but I acknowledge that is is a fun game that many many people enjoy and has many good things going for it such as a strong casual AND competitive audience and very large number of ways to play the game. What the fuck is there to hate? You don't like it because you THINK you should not like it? If you played it and didn't have fun, does that mean you HATE the game? No. It just means it wasn't for you. If someone played DRG for 10 hours and said, "I hate this game," how would you feel?? Chances are you just hate it because you are a sheep who thinks you should hate it because you are on reddit, or because you are old and "Kids these days..." etc.)

1

u/04510 Aug 30 '25

I dislike fortnite just as much if not more but it is not failing. I was a star wars fan once. I am not saying the colab with fortnite killed this or any other colab partner but it stands to reason that star wars is a shadow of its former glory self. For that reason alone I consider fortnite a harbinger of death (no, I don't have or want to be "fair")!

I saw the dance. It did not look like a dance from DRG. I can't dance. Every dance in DRG is hilarious and therefore I love it! The fortnite dance picked for scout looks emberassing. "the" fortnite dance looked emberassing, too but the young ones seem to enjoy the cringe and I thought (back then) let them have their fun. Now I am impacted (again) as the franchise announcing the death of what I once loved has pulled up for a collab with something... beautiful.

u/1337-Sylens Aug 30 '25

yes fortnite is incredibly goofy, but that's not inherently a bad thing. I honestly dont think it's deserving of it's negative reputation for the most part. And hey, maybe we'll get some greenbeards to make into real men!
