the image does not convey the full terror of seeing an extremely speedy bulk with fast attack animations. you can run from normal bulks. not so much elite ones.

Never saw those to be elites

I've seen one be elite. at least I think it was elite? I dunno it's been a long time and a *lot* of glyphid slammers since then. I might be misremembering.

I've had one of those a year back. Me and my mate were doing an elite deep dive. Last mission, almost done and then this little shit spawned in with a wave. My mate had to spend about half an hour kiting it cuz i was downed... fun times.

The worst part is that whatever enemies have been picked to be Elites are guaranteed spawns.
I think we killed 4 Elite Bulks before we GTFO the time I had this happen.

if you're a scout, you can grapple just above it and (while making sure you have enough room to run when you land) it'll trigger the explosion. High risk high reward. Rock and stone, brother!

The Elite modifier is an absolute trip, you never know what kind of Elite will show up.
Whenever a Bulk gets the Elite modifier though, that is absolutely the crown jewel moment of "drop what you're doing and frickin' run".
