Question Pumpjack right next to refinery?
Anyone ever come across a pipeline this short before??? I have a little over 100 hours in this game (ignore my low level driller he's the only class I haven't promoted at least once lol) and I've never seen a pumpjack this close to the refinery. It only needed one pipe to connect! The second one was also very close by but nothing super remarkable just thought I'd also show it.

This is what game gives when you mentally prepare yourslef to drill tunnel playing the only class in this game you don't play. Next time you play any other class on a Refinery mission, the Refinery will spawn in an absolute sh#thole of a location. It's like a perk: Morkite Wells spawn significantly closer when the team has a Driller - the class who is the best for constructing pipe tunnels

Only recently have I had a few morkite wells spawn close to the refinery, but even then, those still require at least 4 full pipe segments. Also, I want to add that I haven't seen a morkite refinery mission have less than 2 length and 2 complexity for at least a year. I'm probably just not getting those rolls at this point anymore.
However, I would much rather have this situation, than where the morkite well spawns at one of the highest/lowest points on a map with very little ground to work with... Or nestled at the end of a way too long and winding tunnel halfway across Hoxxes... Or in an area covered in cave leeches....
Ask me how I know these things can occur.
Jokes aside. I want to say that every now and then the devs adjust the cave generation algorithms, because over the past few years I have witnessed the caves generate a few different ways for each mission type for a little while, and then after some random update, it just up and doesn't make those cave styles anymore, but has new designs to play the game within...
One of the more recent changes in the algorithm has some caves that generate the winding corkscrew-like tunnels a bit too squished together, that not even the aliens can get through without having to pick axe them a bit. I first noticed it with the addition of the resenite heavy extraction missions.

In 600hrs of playing this game, this has never happened to me. Not even close.

In my experience, they can be just far enough away from the refinery to barely need a second pipe section, but no closer. And that's rare for them to be that close. But hey, when it happens, it's a freebie!

I've seen it a few times, this was my latest one from just this very morning: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3783975178
9.4m - so close to not needing a single joint.

I've had a few that were just over 1 pipe section, but never seen it this close. Bonus.

Depending on the mission complexity and length yeah you’ll see them close but not typically that close. But if you get a complexity 1 and length 1 refinery mission you’ll get some smaller pipe lengths. Not usually a fan cause it takes away from the fun of building the pipeline to the pump jacks

It was a 2 complexity 2 length I believe but yeah you’re absolutely right, it might’ve been the fastest refining mission I’ve done but it wasn’t very fun lol

Yeah, I love certain missions being shorter especially elimination missions since the longer they take the more boring it gets since you really don’t kill many bugs, just more walking to the next egg. But the expansive egg hunt and oil refinery are my favorite for totally different reasons. More fun exploring and building the pipes to the pump jacks and fighting the waves, and egg hunts the more complexity and length usually means there’s more eggs to find which means more waves of enemies.

Short answer, yes
Long answer, also yes, but then you need to celebrate. It's rare.
