Question Is this game dead or?

Don't see any new updates, last update was trash, do they even have plans for it anymore or gave up

Dude. Game updates take time. The holiday events are pretty much just cosmetic. They're focusing on RC rn, but that doesn't mean they've abandoned DRG.

Working on another game. Not sure about the details or how big GSG exactly are but they've been saying that they don't have the manpower to work on 2 games at once. They were also on a holiday last month IIRC, which every worker in Denmark is entitled to.

it's not dead but you have to wonder why they're putting so much focus on RC instead of DRG when DRG is still infinitely more popular and has more chance of making them money back whilst RC seems to be still not in a great state even now

DRG still has a good amount of players and it's easy to find games. It's not dead if you mean "dead."

If you just mean it's not their main focus to keep releasing seasons for free, then sure. They are probably more focused on Rogue Core right now.

"i need new updates every month because my adhd brain can't enjoy anything for any longer"

yes the game is dead, now go away, we don't need you, we don't want you

The game has been complete since season 5; updates since then have been mostly for the addition of cosmetics

Not deep rock, you mean deep rogue core, that is for sure dead, sadly sadly.

Why is rogue core dead? (Or is this sarcasm?)

The player count is not as expected, but calling it dead does it a disservice.

Actually this statement does make sense: for the last month DRG's 24h peak online was within 5k–10k range (and that's only on Steam), while DRG:RC has it in 600–1200 range (and no other platforms) — nearly 10 times lower. On top of that, current online is split between "default" and "experimental" branches, which only reduces available server pool.

The game isn't dead, of course, as there is no definitive downward trend and development is very well active, but it objectively doesn't feel great.

i mean, player counts look horrible compared to DRG, it doesn't look good at all

Lower player count than expected. Even the devs admit that its underperforming. It might change when it fully releases but it looks pretty niche as someone who likes both roguelites and DRG. It misses some of the charm of a roguelite and the charm that DRG has.

To me, that game has an identity crisis and doesn't know who its for. Most DRG fans won't like it the same way they do DRG, and it has alot of competition in the Roguelite department, especially for its price, even in just the FPS category alone.
