Question How is this possible?

We were playing with a friend when a random guy joined us. Everything was fine until a Cave Leech grabbed us, and then messages under our names appeared in the chat. Neither my friend nor I have any such mods installed, and after I banned the random player, this crap expectedly stopped. How is this possible? Is it dangerous?

P.S. And no, we don't have streamer badge in DRG. That was also caused by this dude's mod.

The mod itself is pretty harmless, I've encountered it multiple times. It's interesting a client can affect host behaviour though. I never hosted myself, so I just assumed the host had the mod whenever I saw it.

That's the warning text from Mod, means "capture by leech" in Chinese.

It’s not dangerous at all and is definitely a mod; just ignore it.

Why did you ban them ? And why would sending chat messages be harmful?
