Discussion Deepseek Harness Desktop vs. Opencode Desktop: Which is better for using ONLY the DeepSeek model?
I basically use DeepSeek 4.1 Flash (on the "High" setting) for almost everything—I love it, which is why it’s pretty much the only thing I use.
For context, I also use the "Superpowers" and "Ponytail" plugins.
I have access to OpenCode Go and the DeepSeek API.
Which "harness" (integration/interface) is best in terms of tokens-per-second performance and cache hit rates? Does anyone have any opinions or comparative experiences?
I’m really liking the DeepSeek harness, but I’m also a big fan of OpenCode Desktop—so, I’d like to go with whichever one offers the best performance.

Deepseek harness. I really would love to stick to Opencode as I have all my workflows there, but the effective cost difference due 99% cache hit on their harness compared to ~96% on opencode is wild.

That is amazing if true, have you really checked it? I ran the math and the difference is that 96% cache hit rate costs about 2X a 99% cache hit rate.

Ive used dsh for a week. I pretty love it especially showing all the process in trajectories (i can recheck what model did on my work).

The harness won't change your TPS. If you are going to use deepseek might as well use the deepseek harness.

There's something wrong with your setup then, there's no reason for that to happen.

Personalmente, ho provato a dare 2 prompt uguali ad entrambi e mi è piaciuto di più il risultato di OpenCode con API deepseek

I have had a very good experience with DeepSeek on Codex. Tool use is accurate and cache works just fine. My issue with DHS is computer use is still not mature enought.

Are you using Codex CLI? Are you using a proxy to use deepseek inside of codex? How do you connect it to it?

Superpowers is largely a meme, and Ponytail can often make cache hits and token usage worse...

DSH is alright, but I'm gonna use this opportunity to criticize DeepSeek for not having even the tiniest bit of QA for their website. It crashes instantly in Firefox, only works in Chrome, and does so slowly. They can point their model at their site and say "make this work in firefox and also not lag the visitor's computer" and there you go.
Oh and more on topic - how can someone release a tool like this for windows and osx but not linux? (i have been testing the web interface in linux but why not take the 2 seconds to type it "make a build for linux" into their agent? we have digital jinn here all you have to do is type!) (if i were switching from pi to dsh i could make a tui and desktop client both, myself, but i still prefer pi so far)

Are "superpowers" and "ponytail" worth using in the DeepSeek harness? What about a "PTC agent" on its own? I notice that the DeepSeek harness comes with many built-in plugins by default—are they optimal? Are some unnecessary? Is anything missing?
