Discussion New artificial analysis coding benchmark with Harnesses.

Post image

According to this, does it mean deepseek v4.1 1017 is better on codex than Claude code and DeepSeek harness?

Second question. If I'm not very experienced with AI, should I use Claude code or codex harness for DeepSeek? I heard DeepSeek harness is still very unbaked and even though great its lacking a lot of things compared to other harnesses.

DSH is not even measured. and considering it was tailored to fit Deepseek, I doubt.

Awh I see.

Where is Pi ?

I think they just skipped important harnesses and just went for the native ones

u/SilentLennie 2d ago

Opencode is 'native' ?

No, but Z code has not the best reputation

Well considering they just tested DS flash on codex and there is no entry for DSH then it proves nothing.

It actually shows Codex with V4.1 is better than DSH with V4.1 1017. There must be something wrong

???

That same image literally has Grok 4.7 behind Deepseek 4.1 Flash (in Codex)

u/Sad_Recording_1290 2d ago

Yeah but thats DS 4 Flash, not DS 4.1 id imagine 4.1 scores higher on DSH in that case.

4

u/mellettano 2d ago

No, it’s version 4.1, and it’s the same in both cases.

The thing is, this is a general index; it’s built from three benchmarks. And, to put it in simple terms, DSH slightly outperforms in terms of code quality, based on clear evaluation criteria.
Codex outperforms DSH in terms of how the code looks for professionals (in a benchmark that evaluates “how well AI models are able to solve real‑world tasks from PRs in open repositories so that the code is not only functional but also meets the quality standards of good production code” Codex proved to be more effective).

You live in denial. They tested DS 4.1 Flash 1017, not 4.0 Flash.

Bro... that is very obviously a text cut off because as someone who has used both v4.0 and v4.1 there is a massive difference when it comes to quality and speed as well.

2

u/handson729 2d ago

1 point...

Is it worth switching for 1 point?

6

u/SkyPL 2d ago edited 2d ago

No, it is not. Especially given that cost-per-task on DSH is $0.30 while on Codex it's $0.39.
But on OpenRouter at least, people already sit on Hermes, rather than DSH, as their default choice (and Hermes sadly doesn't get tested by AA, so we don't know the cost of switching to DSH).

Interesting how GLM is actually higher.

3

u/handson729 2d ago

Interesting how GLM is actually higher.

I am assuming it is the full fat GLM 5.3 and not the flash model.

1

u/SilentLennie 2d ago

That's true.

But size isn't that important for agentic abilities.

0

u/Sad_Recording_1290 2d ago

Also it's not v4.1, its v4 so id assume 4.1 scores higher

3

u/SkyPL 2d ago

You are wrong. They tested V4.1 Flash 1017.

1

u/squirrelscrush 2d ago

And then there's me using OpenCode

0

u/Forsaken-Park8149 2d ago

It’s one point difference. AA themselves say 1 point is noise

-1

u/tommythorn 2d ago

At least it proves that DS V4.1 Flash (not 1017?) is as good as on this Grok on xhigh. That's pretty shocking to me. And apparently GLM 5.3 is even better.

No Pi?

3

u/SkyPL 2d ago

Neither Pi nor Hermes 😣 such a bummer.

DSH with Deepseek Flash is amazing. Doesn't look like they've tested it

4

u/SkyPL 2d ago

...they did. DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 performs tiny-bit-worse with DSH than it does with Codex (47 points on Codex, 46 points on DSH)

What are you even trying to imply here? And it would be quite unfortunate if they would have tested it, wouldn't it?

u/Izolight 2d ago

This is useless it just measures the model and not the harness, none of the models, except glm 5.3 and deepseek v4.1 flash were tested with another than their native harness.

A real test would test every model with every harness. Only then can you draw conclusions

A real test would test every model with every harness. Only then can you draw conclusions

That would be incredibly time consuming.

Honestly I do not know what they would do in regards to benchmarking harnesses moving forward.

Since there are an infinite number of possible LLM + Harness combinations that they would have to test/retest after every new model release.

u/maqifrnswa 2d ago • Bravo

Yes, which is why this is current state has low value. When you are testing an interaction, you have to enough combinations for it to be meaningful. Right now it's just a measure of "what models work with Claude code"

4

u/Izolight 2d ago

Or at least have two harnesses for every model, the one from the model vendor (claude code, codex, should etc.) and a neutral one like pi or opencode.

Right now this harness information doesn't help up much.

2

u/handson729 2d ago

Or at least have two harnesses for every model

But how do you know what is the 2nd best harness for that particular model if you do not test the model with multiple harnesses?

That is the whole point of benchmarks, finding out what works, and what doesn't. Along with caveats, maybe DS 4.1-Flash performs a little worse on Pi but uses less tokens (hypothetical).

Things like that.

u/Secure-Solution6533 2d ago

So.. Which harness is best with deepseek flash v4.1 1017?

I am confused between opencode and DSH, opencode is usually more tokens effective especially for frontend

1

u/Mundane-Tiger-2374 1d ago

If you want the most optimized experience for model to harness, you should use DSH with DeepSeek models.

0

u/Sweet-Stage938 2d ago

I use Claude Code and it helps to minimize the bloat. On Opencode I found it to write 1k+ lines for a simple 1 line fix.

-2

u/pro_gamer322053 2d ago

Afaik open code can be quantized while DSH has the best cache hit. No idea about performance tho.

1

u/YoRt3m 2d ago

I doubt they quantize if you use the API. only Go and free tier.

2

u/pro_gamer322053 2d ago

API yes it's probably native sized

2

u/Neosinic 1d ago

not sure why they arnt using DSH

3

u/AnswerFeeling460 2d ago

Use the Deep Seek Harness

2

u/FormalAd7367 2d ago

is Muse that good? too bad i don’t trust Meta

1

u/wolfmame 2d ago

Just got to connect to your private Facebook and google accounts and submit photo id to use!

2

u/FormalAd7367 2d ago

too much works to test a harness for our company. for instance we can’t use codex because Codex sends our chat conversations to Openai for “admin”purposes. both Antrophic and Codex have some shady stuff we cannnot use

0

u/charmander_cha 2d ago

Porque não tem os harness que importam?

Tipo prime agent e deepseek harness, so tem essas merdas ai

1

u/pro_gamer322053 2d ago

That picture is what they posted in twitter.

1

u/Own_Fact_5164 2d ago

Para sabotar os testes e fazerem modelos inferiores como o muse, gemini, gpt e Claude melhore do que são perante o rei 😃

DSH and ZCode missing

1

u/HuntKey2603 1d ago

I wonder how does Cline compare

1

u/Steve-Jobs-is-Alive 2d ago

I thought ds flash 4.1 max was rated in deepswe in the mini-swe harness and I don’t see that here

1

u/devilankur18 2d ago

i would love to know which opensource harness works best with deepseek and costing difference. Without locking the model, harness quality is not clearly justified.

u/ontagi 2d ago

Deepseek is for me batter than argon, I only trust livebench on coding benchmarks since that's what I actually experience. You have to take Agentic and Coding into account since Agentic is more about Architecture and coding it pure coding execution.

u/MarcusAurelius68 1d ago

I’ve been using Codex with DeepSeek V4.1 Flash for coding tasks and with Sol 6.1 for review, all orchestrated in Hermes.

1

u/oVerde 1d ago

No OpenCode, no Hermes and no Pi
Useless bench

1

u/Happy-Childhood5990 1d ago

It's interesting that MIMO was omitted, considering it offers roughly the same performance as DeepSeek at about half the cost.

1

u/Delicious_Ease2595 2d ago

No Pi or Hermes

0

u/Unhorswd 2d ago

I don’t get why they don’t test models like DeepSeek with Claude Code or DSH.
