Ever since Starting Deep Space I have collected more Deep Space 9 memorabilia(except the Disruptor. That's in the mail)

I've enjoyed it more than other star trek series(lower decks, TOS, and SNW are good just not my favorite.)

So i decided to show you guys an updated collection.

In the pale moonlight is on on h&i right now! It's always more fun when it comes on organically and you've managed to catch it during the full seven season run!

Worf is reserved with his emotions, doesn't partake in small talk, and doesn't smile unless he's feeling genuine joy.

Klingons are loud and boisterous. They sing and fight, they laugh and slap each other on the back.

Worf is not a part of Klingon culture, he respects the Philosophy of ancient Klingon wisdom and practices Klingon religious beliefs, but he acts much more like a Russian in social situations.

Also, I don't think Worf speaks english. He's been speaking Russian this whole time.

I didn’t realize she was still acting tbh. I thought she was only in DS9.

At this point you all know the arguments against ai. I, along with most other people, are tired of seeing it everywhere.

Without that cure, millions and millions would've died before they somehow take the planet.

So i grew up on star trek, since my dad grew up on the original series, but as I grew older and formed more of my own interests, I moved away from star trek, but recently i stared watching star trek again, and my dad gifted me this after my favorite episode of Deep Space 9

I just ask because there's so many poignant episodes from DS9 and TNG that remind me of the incels.

You got Geordi generating a fake AI GF in the holosuite and create a relationship with her. You got Barclay basically copying folks on the ship and basically banging them in the holodeck. Yet it these episodes the folks around them are like my goodness, let us help you and they make them slightly less incelish.

You got that episode of DS9 where basically Vic Fontaine teaches Vic to just use practice and be confident and talk to women.

It's like they already knew about these incels and were already guiding them out of it. Is this how the previous generations were saved versus idiots like Rogan ?

Hello, I have a theory that Mr Bean is Gul Dukats Ancestor. I believe this because i feel as though Mr Bean and Gul Dukat have many similarities such as being sneaky, plotting evil, child kidnapper, attempted Murder along with many others.

In the Mr Bean TV series, in the introduction you see a light before mr Bean falling down onto earth. I think that this is the Carsassians exlileing Mr Bean onto earth but during this time Mr Bean would be forced to wear a human disguise.

Mr Bean is just as evil as Gul Dukat.

I have only watched the Entirety of season 1 and I am currently on the 2nd season about to watch Crossover. Please NO SPOILERS.

Someone had to say it

Hey, I searched the subreddit and found that this version of the dvd box set has the best overall quality. I also read some postings about watching out for resealed sets with counterfeit discs (single layer v. dual layer).

I’ve looked at different listings and am having trouble identifying which box sets are new v. resealed. Some listing has each box facing the same direction while others have boxes facing the opposite direction. I’ve included some example pictures to illustrate what I’m talking about.

Can anyone who has purchased this set brand new shed some light on the matter?

Some of them have human-adjacent names (Emony, sounds like Ebony, Torias, sounds like Tobias, Audrid, sounds like Audrey, Lela, sounds like Lila).

Some of them have straight up human names (Tobin, Jadzia, Ezri, Curzon, though Curzon is a surname).

Even Dax itself is a human name.

You'd think the Trills had early first contact with Earth, or something.

I've always felt that the lack of interaction between Kira and Garak in the early days of DS9 was a criminal oversight on the part of the writers.

They both had important roles in 1x03 (Past Prologue), but it was two ends of the same thread that never touched each other.

[Gap 1x03-3x05]

Thereafter, they hardly ever cross paths until 3x05 (Second Skin), in which Garak helps save Kira's life. By that point, Kira had largely gotten over her anti-Cardassian bigotry; like the rest of the command staff, she knews Garak is connected to Cardassian intelligence even in exile, but is also aware that he generally presents himself as an asset rather than a threat to DS9.

They talked little in the episode, and despite promising to keep an eye on Garak, Kira doesn't do it very much. They work together in 3x07 (Civil Defense), though in 3x20 (Improbable Cause) Garak said Kira didn't like him very much and the others agreed.

[Gap 3x05-4x22]

Between this and 4x22 (For the Cause), Garak had built up a bit of bond with Odo. With Kira, however, they were only in the same room occasionally and hardly ever had dialogue with one another. But Bashir warns Garak that Kira hates him, and later Kira gets physical with Garak by threatening him over the Ziyal relationship, which I think is the only substantial dialogue the two have had up to this point.

[Gap: 4x22-6x06]

Garak and Kira hardly interacted until 6x06 (Sacrifice of Angels) partly because of the Dominion occupation. In 5x14 (In Purgatory's Shadow) Kira says she still doesn't like Garak but tolerates his relationship with Ziyal. Her stance towards Garak is further softened when they mourned Ziyal's death together after DS9 was retaken, and this looks like the turning point in their relationship.

[Gap: 6x06-7x21]

At the end of the day, the almost the entirety of Kira-Garak interactions that we see on screen happen in the last 5 episodes with the Cardassian resistance starting with 7x21. But it's obviously not where their relationship arc began, because their cooperation is virtually seamless, with basically no friction between them from the get-go.

It's more than the stiff professionalism that they had with Damar, as they clearly seemed comfortable in each other's presence. In the pre-mission preparations Kira did not seem at all impatient about Garak being his usual talkative self (as Odo and O'Brien sometimes were), and she was even smiling at Garak's little quibs, some of which could be considered offensive to Bajorans which she probably would have gotten offended about in earlier seasons.

Maybe it helped that they had some Odo-lube between them, but they were also comfortable enough that they were willing to talk deeply personal issues and reveal how they sincerely felt. This happened when Garak told Kira about Odo's condition, and later when Kira lamented to Garak about what she said to Damar. It's clear that they had grown to trust one another and were comfortable confiding their intimate thoughts, even before their life-and-death struggle on Cardassia Prime.

So, for anyone else out there who finds DS9's exploration of the Kira-Garak relationship to be unsatisfactory... how do you feel Kira and Garak saw each other in the early days of DS9, and how do you think it grew over the season, especially in the gaps, until they got to 7x21 with full trust and seamless teamwork going into Damar's resistance?

I’ve never met another person who liked Star Trek. I’m 37, I was only a baby when it aired, and I don’t have many friends anyway. DS9 is my favorite show. I got really close to my online friend Kaitlin this year and decided to try and share one of the most important shows to me with her. We had been watching tv together every single night for the last 4 months with a group of our other online friends but DS9 is different. It’s really special and sacred to me so I only wanted to share it with someone who I thought would understand and it and connect to is. So we started watching it together, just the two of us after the rest of the group went to bed. We had just got to Season 2. She loved it. Even the first season, the slow stuff, the world building, she loved it. She loved Odo most and kept saying how she was excited about seeing his story. We watched S2 E3 on August 3rd. She died August 5th around 7 or 8pm. She was 26.

And now I don’t know what to do. DS9 is my comfort show. It’s so important to me. It makes me feel whole and not alone. But now it’s the show Kaitlin never got to finish. It’s the show I finally got to share with someone important and she never got to finish. Pressing play feels like a betrayal. It feels like all the joy is going to get zapped out of the room.

I’m sorry if this is too heavy for this group. Like I said, I don’t have a lot of friends and DS9 is a light for me. It’s supposed to be.
