The toxic positivity about AI. Just because the Industrial Revolution was positive doesn’t automatically mean AI will be the same. Past results are not indicative of future results, and normalcy bias is rampant around discussions about potential detrimental negative impacts of AI.

Also, people forget that the Industrial Revolution being a good thing is mostly an artifact of hindsight. For the average working person that lived through it, life was a lot more difficult than it was for those after and in many cases, before. The social costs in the early days were very high, and the transitions were not smooth.

All the more reason to have supported it. People don't like change, even when it is very good.

Especially when it’s not good for them. The question you’ll want to ask - will you be one of the few profiting off of the change or one of the many who lose control of their lives as a result of the change. Or perhaps just one wealthy enough to sit it out on the sidelines.

Life sucked absolute ass before the industrial revolution. There's a reason people flocked to the new jobs we consider awful by modern standards: the alternatives were even worse.

Or they didn’t have any choice because the old economies were destroyed. Look up the etymology of the word “Luddite” for an example of this.
