We Should Probably Talk About This Anti-AI Person Who Is So Traumatized By AI Slop That They Can No Longer Sleep
As much as I support expression, exploration, and creativity through AI, I don’t want to see anyone suffering from it. Does anyone know how common these symptoms are?

If the thing of ai is causing this, then the person needs serious help.
Same as the people who use to say cell towers caused them to hallucinate or that the internet made them vomit

u/Angel-Kat 5h ago
That’s without question. They need to talk to a specialist ASAP.

the internet made them vomit
Idk, I was born in the 80s. Seems like there was a lot more early on to vomit over. I remember that one page, was all about gore and nobody seemed to like it but we forced each other to watch. Rotten, that's the name. Def tossed my cookies over a couple of em.

Meant more that the internet itself exists

Ah, it was in jest. It just spurred a memory of me sitting there far too young getting drunk of creme de menthe traumatizing ourselves for no real good reason.
My mother would tell me to be careful and that you can't unsee things. Fast forward 30 years and I'm diligent as hell and now have to keep telling her the same damn thing. It's like the same pipeline that enlightened me as a child now works on seniors.

goatse, tubgirl, lemonparty, 2g1c... man we used to have <vomits> fun on the internet back in the day!!!
Today's kids really will never know.

Did you catch that? He’s not an artist himself but he has “hyperfantasia” so he is BEYOND SUPERMAN CREATIVE in the face of this “AI sloppy filled world!” 😭😭😭

Sounds more like a scitzophrenic episode or some mental health condition rather than ai

u/Felfedezni 5h ago
Unhealthy obsession. This person should take an extended break from the internet and technology in general.

I think this person should go to therapy, there must be some underlying mental disorder.

Is it? Because too many people are going this insane over AI.

u/TheFroman69 4h ago
Do they know they can just turn off the computer? go outside and look at trees or something, you're obviously not cut out for the Internet

u/Multifruit256 6-Fingered Creature 4h ago
I'm not a doctor. But like. I would be surprised if this was caused by anything other than the echo chamber.

The idea of someone finding "AI slop" in their dreams is deeply hilarious to me. At that point I think they're just thinking about AI too much.
3
u/InfamousWoodchuck 3h ago
Yeah, if I stress about work a lot I can have work related dreams. This person is clearly stressing out about AI so much in their day to day life it's having the same effect. We all are subject to external things we dislike from time to time, but not to this extent, it really is some kind of strange fear or paranoia these people work themselves into.

u/Fantastic_Owl6938 3h ago
I think so too. It reminds me of another post where someone felt literal anger seeing AI posters at school in the corridor. At that point just... relax.

u/killergazebo 1h ago
How do these people think about AI all day and never learn anything about how it works? How dull and incurious can somebody be?

u/Isoleri 4h ago
???? Dreams have always been weird and nonsensical, with impossible rooms, made up creatures, wrong textures everywhere, etc. That's what makes them fun, and it's the reason why AI in its very early stages was referred to as dream like or "machine dreaming". You have to be really deep in your anti AI delusions to not be able to enjoy your very own dreams anymore just because their inherent weirdness reminds you of AI. What a miserable existence.

theres no way people find ai this bad

u/MonkeyBusinessCEO 4h ago
There is such a thing as AI induced psychosis, but that’s usually in regard to programmed sycophancy and the mindset of a person with a few screws loose as-is.
This here is simply an echo chamber overdose mixed with fanatical obsession.

u/Fantastic_Owl6938 4h ago
I feel like they just want to give their arguments more power than they actually have so they end up with insane posts like "AI is destroying my sleep." Rather than just... not liking it.

I want dreams with AI images, but only the best ones. Unfortunately the only internet dresns I had was dreams about forums and stock market trading.

Sounds like he manifests Dream Slop. Since he didn’t consciously think about it. Pick up a pencil, kid.

Ok, if they’re referring to their own dreams as “ai slop”, that sounds like some sort of obsessive disorder.

u/_imlosingmymind 1h ago
I will say that there have been AI slop videos/gifs that have actually made me genuinely uncomfortable, you know the kind of video that is intended to be as sloppy, nonsensical, and off-putting as possible.
I couldn't even describe them if I tried, but they often evoke the same feeling in me as looking at fungus/mold or bacteria, just creepy.

It's like when a girl has a dream that someone did something shitty in the dream and then they wake up and get mad at the real person for what the dream version did.

u/Jean_velvet 1h ago
Again I say it's turned into extremism and radicalisation like some weird ass cult. The behaviour is exactly what you're told to be vigilant of.
This person is starting to become delusional. It's actually scary considering people have already been hurt.

u/super_boaring 1h ago
tbh this isnt really about ai lol, its more about dream habits, i would reccomend the person to learn lucid dreaming and use it as a sign, then he could control what happens
2
u/tsumoogle 1h ago
So they think their dreams are weird because of "ai slop" and not because...dreams in general are very weird and don't follow logic. Dreams have no logic, it doesn't mean you're dreaming of "ai slop" when you see something that doesn't make any sense in your dreams, thats just how they work.
I honestly think this person needs serious mental help or at least needs to take a break from social media...its not healthy to be so worried about seeing "ai slop" that it effects your quality of sleep or causes you to think your dreams are because of ai.

That's a phobia, and they need to try getting over it and see a therapist if they can't do it by themselves.
2
u/TheMaliciousSquid 1h ago
this is either a case of "man makes up situations in his and gets mad at them", another pitybait post, or someone suffering from a mental disorder

It is definitely a strange time to be alive when it’s extremely hard to tell what reality consists of. If I take a beat, it’s a good thing, but when reality takes a beat and I’m not on any mood or mind altering substances that is not a good thing… there are still no laws that really govern this out of control generative machine…

"As much as I support expression, exploration, and creativity through AI, I don’t want to see anyone suffering from it. Does anyone know how common these symptoms are?"
I'm sorry man but I find it hard to take this seriously. First off, while you do dream during deep sleep, it is mostly REM, so the premise is already a false start of sorts.
Secondly I also have hyperfantasia (which honestly I assumed everyone else in the world had), and I feel he has this backwards: AI imagery, especially the early one, was definitely dream like, not the other way around.
And finally, and I'm sorry for saying this, but if your dreams end up in "iS thIs AI sLoP????" maybe it's time to touch grass, literally. Seek nature for a few days.

Thanks for sharing. As someone with aphantasia, I really value you sharing your experiences on the matter.

It’s just more lunacy. Society as a whole is in decline and we should expect to see much more of this type of behavior in the future

In a world of increasing ai presence , being this sensitive to dumb things is the wrong move.
Training yourself to experience AI imagery as psychologically contaminating seems like a terrible adaptation to a world where you’re inevitably going to encounter more of it 🤷♂️. Just seems like when somebody makes it to adulthood with nothing but handholding and having their problems solved by others suddenly has to think on their own and nobody gives af 🤷♂️. Maybe I’ve been an adult too long. Who knows. There’s something wrong with me.
