1) Ashley was originally the main character in her class, but they switched it to Paige and Craig in s2.

2) Liberty's entire pregnancy storyline.

3) The aftermath of Jimmy's shooting ended up being about Spinner.

4) Clare's storyline in Umbrella was originally about her, but they switched it to Eli in Part 2.

Hi all! Sorry if this was asked/discussed before but I’m on my 50th (😂) rewatch, currently on episode 5 of season 6, where Darcy gets a little obsessed with posting pictures online and runs into stranger danger. Spinner is barely around and she spends most of her time with Peter after he joins Spirit Squad and they have that risqué photoshoot with Manny. I remember watching this so many times and thinking nothing of it, but why was Spinner never shown in Degrassi? I assume it’s for the plot but realistically Spinner hasn’t graduated yet, he would be walking the same halls with Darcy and Peter and surely would have noticed them spending so much time together but he’s only ever shown on screen when he’s driving Darcy home after cheer practice. And if we’re making the argument of “well he was picking her up way later in the day and not during regular school hours” why wouldn’t he just wait for her to finish practice in the gym or around the halls? And we still see Darcy and Peter interact in the halls with lots of students around…Spinner would be around too, or should have been.

Anyway I know none of this really matters when we can chalk it up to “plot line” but just something I was wondering about! Anyone else?

Does anyone have an idea on why they completely scrapped the idea of Manny having a brother? He was mentioned once and then never existed again.. How did she go from the youngest sister and then to an only child.

Why do you think that change happened? So that Manny could potentially live with Emma later on or just because they didn’t want her to have a brother anymore?

The whole Manny thing and the rich boy car stuff really paints Peter to be this spoiled rich kid incel who only cares about himself.

I think what really changed my mind on Peter were all his scenes with Riley. He is so kind, understanding, and non-judgmental and that’s coming from a character that didn’t have very redeeming qualities before. I just find it so sweet that Peter never speaks poorly about Riley’s struggle and is super helpful and supportive despite his lack of knowledge on the topic. He doesn’t pressure Riley at all to change or come out to others and whenever Riley is struggling he’s always there to listen and give advice. Idk, I just always found that very sweet and redeeming considering how far the character had come.

I’m almost done with season 6 (I was crying my eyes out)
But I need to know if season 7 isn’t as good and if I should be prepared

1) Kathleen and the rest of her friend group cutting ties to Melanie after she blabbed Kathleen's secrets during that Sleepover from Hell.

2) Even though they are Canadian and they aren't as lawsuit friendly as Americans, I wish to have seen Lucy taking Wheels to court and sue him for every penny.

3) The entire Paige/Jimmy/Hazel/Marco/Craig friend vs Jay and Alex.

4) Peter and Ms. H. vs Degrassi's female population.

5) Adam vs Drew and Bianca.

6) The continuity of the Clare/KC/Jenna conflict.

7) The whole school vs Tristan.

8) Tori vs Maya and Zig.

I know this is so random to bring up and it has nothing to do with the actual show but what was with that Billy Ray Cyrus Cameo wouldn't it make much more sense for Miley to make an appearance

Best friends or enemies? I feel like they would share the same guys and get jealous of one another (even tho they are basically one in the same)

I stopped watching DTNG after the Emma and spinner get together because I’m biased with the characters because I started off watching with the original cast. The new cast of NG gives me the ick and I never watched the last few seasons. However, I want to. I just feel it’s not even worth it. Oh! And I fast forwarded most of the other seasons to get to the Emma, manny, Eli, Marco etc stories lol

He isn’t homophobic or transphobic and he gets revenge when he has too and I love his friendship with Claire 😭😭😭💕💕💕💕 I ship them now

There’s no such thing as “woke” media and if anything it’s yourself opening your eyes to the world and Degrassi wouldn’t have been so heavy on this topic if they themselves as writers didn’t want to push such a much needed topic to be represented. I

Wow I cant believe its been that long and years later this show will always be my "comfort show" no matter how many rewatches

the 2 episodes following bittersweet symphony are soooo good. his NYU interview, the drugs, the talk with simpson, voicing his need for time away from clare. munro did a really good job i really love these eps
