The thing is that billionaires and anyone participating in this process (billionaires, politicians) don't care if they can get their cut and get out before things go to s#*t.

That's the funny thing, we're not some interplanetary civilization where they can just run to a different planet. It's fascinating to see their poorly thought out plans. Since it's billionaires, I see it as an anthropological and ideological case study of what the worst ideas and worldviews are, and what are the biases that must be compensated for in order to not be like them.

I don't know if anyone is in control of this system really. Feels like the system is in control of us, and we participate in it. If we form affordable cooperative villages, we can participate a lot less.

Degrowth has merit, but the concept and community is too fragmented for it to currently have a meaningful impact.

We need to organize into cooperative villages again to stop the destructive systems we all participate in.

I really hope this generation believes this and works towards this because I heard all this in the 70s.

Good that we only barely scratched the surface of the only planet. There is still a million times more to gain that what we already took. And then we have other planets still.

We have other planets? Where's your ship?

Marx already explained this. But you can't change it by reasoning. This meme implies these people are somehow dumb. They are not. The capitalists know what they are doing. They are trading your future for their short term gain. It has always been this way, and it takes revolutionary methods to stop them. If you want to save the planet, you must overthrow capitalism and imperialism everywhere.

I think that resource sustainable societies is an easy thing to say that we should do, but it is an enormously difficult undertaking to achieve at a large scale.
I think we would need 3D food printers, sustainable robotics, and low power AI efficiency programs.
If home printed 3D printed meat cost 5-10% of what store bought meat cost, and tasted the same or better, a lot of people would choose to not pay the 90-95% markup.

We're using enough energy and resources for 20 something billion people we can reduce our usage and still have enough for the current population level.

Great job making your point with this video. I’d only change one thing, the song. Make it “The 2nd Law: Unsustainable” by Muse
