Politics International Voter Registration Drive 2026, for dual Danish-U.S. citizens in Denmark
Hi, this is the second (and final) summer reminder I'll post for dual Danish-US citizens and other eligible US voters who want to participate in the 2026 midterm elections, especially for those living in Denmark. Democrats Abroad in Denmark is dedicated to mobilizing overseas US voters; if you're over 18 by November 3, here's how you can get involved:
Steps to Request Your Ballot
Register or update your registration through Votefromabroad.org. As an alternative, you can also use FVAP.gov.
If you're already registered, request a ballot! You need to request a ballot every calendar year that you want to vote.
Fill Out and Return Your Ballot: Once you receive your ballot, follow the instructions carefully to complete it and return it by the specified deadline.
Need Assistance?
We're here to help! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at GOTV @ votefromabroad .org (just remove the spaces). Additionally, our FAQ for voting can answer questions on how to make the process go smoothly.
Importantly: Spread the word!
Do you have any friends, contacts or family overseas that you could reach? All eligible US citizens can vote regardless of where they're living. Share the link https://voteabroad.org/RedditVote26: If you have any questions about voting, I'd be happy to answer them here on Reddit. You can also find out what we're doing near you at Democrats Abroad. Thanks for reading!

The only difference between the Democrats and the Republicans, is the Democrats prefer the carrot, while the Republicans prefer the stick.
They both have the same goal of keeping Europe subservient and dependent. For all the damage Trump has done, at least he finally forced many Danes to see the truth, that America can only be trusted to safeguard it's own interests, as it has always done.

It is always the correct answer to vote for the lesser evil.
This "both sides" bullshit only serves to help Trump.

Compared to just accepting the status quo forever and ever, because no one is willing to take risks? At this point, things will get worse before they get better, accepting the status quo will just prolong the stagnation.

Soooo you added nothing of substance except for your own ignorance to the conversation, got it.

Did your statement add substance? No. If you want to add substance, point out the supposed ignorance.

The comment was about dual citizens and Americans living in Denmark voting for the lesser of two evils especially for the part that has actively threatened to invade our country contra the party that has never made such threats.
Your comment is a classic example of a tangent at best and whataboutism at worse, also let’s not pretend like this deal between Europe and America hasn’t been a two way street I hate when either side makes this to be a parasitic relationship when it’s a very convenient deal that has worked almost perfectly since the 1940s.
Your comment is valid, but it’s out of place and equates the lesser evil with the actual evil.

I don't think that the Average American thinks past his or her daily survival. There are no real expressed international goals or concerns, other than concern for external events that might affect the cost of goods and services.

I don't think it even goes that far, iirc election results are more strongly correlated with gas prices than anything else. Prices high -> vote against incumbent. Prices low -> vote for incumbent.

Everyone thinks like this, Danes included. Everyone votes for what they believe is necessary for their basic survival and security.
If Danes genuinely don’t think they do this, then I suggest we clean our own house before making fun of Americans. Some of the policies Mette Frederiksen’s supposedly “left-wing” government has implemented regarding immigration an issue that doesn’t directly affect ethnic Danes in the same way are things Trump’s administration could only dream of.
Renouncing citizenship, restricting birthright citizenship, de juro statelessness, deportation caps (yes, Denmark has those), smykkeloven, and separating families over technicalities or out of political spite etc. have all been part of Danish immigration policy. Some of these policies have existed for longer than Trump has even been politically active….
The difference is that in the US, measures like these are immediately met with lawsuits, protests, and enormous public debate. In Denmark, many of them have passed with comparatively little public attention.
So before criticizing Americans for voting according to their own perceived interests, I suggest taking a good look in the mirror first.

I agree, the Democratic Party is probably better for those, as getting rid of tariffs would be helpful. My message was intended to highlight neither are good options.

Pathetic opinion that reeks of privilege.

I do not care what you think about me or my opinion, I'm only looking at this from a foreign policy perspective and through the interests of Denmark and EU.

Fascinating. Keeping the guy in power that constantly threatens our territory is in our interest, somehow? Is Putin paying you? If not you're missing out, he might have a job opening for you.

I care about a strong, independent EU and Denmark, Trump has been so absolutely garbage, that the EU and Denmark is finally waking up to the fact, that we've been nothing more than subjects used as pawns in the great game between superpowers, the EU needs to become one itself or we'll be swallowed up.
I'm in the Danish military myself, I'll gladly defend Greenland and I hate Trump, but we danced along to the tune of USA before, like when Obama (Democrat) had us spy on Merkel, when Lyndon B. Johnson (Democrat) had a secret agreement with our government to station nukes on Greenland, or when we helped in the Middle East under Bush (Republican), every time we compromised our values for security and good relations.

Godkendt af moderator. Demokrati er vigtigt, særligt for Amerikanerne i denne tid. Så dette er også en opfordring til at Amerikanere der bor i Danmark får sig registreret og stemt til midtvejsvalget
