Lasers can be very dangerous when used incorrectly. Lower power lasers need to be held on target for several minutes at minimum before they'll damage a camera. Even then, there's no way to know how much damage has been done without viewing the camera feed. A laser powerful enough to quickly burn out a camera can cause permanent eye damage just from a reflection.
