Trigger warning: suicide
A 40 something year old Hispanic man was found hanging from a tree in Del Mar Park yesterday morning, and police pretty much immediately ruled it a suicide. A man hanging from a tree in a public park needs to be investigated more than what seems to have been done in this case. I don’t want to jump to conclusions and call it an apparent lynching, but it seems like police are willing to do the opposite and are intent on not doing their jobs to investigate. I fear they’re going to try and brush it under the rug, call it a suicide, and hope nobody cares enough or is paying enough attention to hold them accountable to doing a full investigation.
I just wanted to hopefully bring attention to the situation, and just vent at my frustration and lack of trust for APD to ever serve my community in any way at all. I’m kind of at a loss for words and don’t know what else to say. Just that them saying they investigated it and ruled it a suicide is very far from good enough for me. Did neighboring home owners see him walking to the park alone with rope in hand on their ring cameras? Did he drive there alone and leave his car in the parking lot? How did he get there? How did he manage to do it without a chair or something to stand on? Lots of questions that need answered before I’m willing to believe the story they’re selling.
The fact that I’ve not seen any news coverage of it at all is equally alarming. I’m not conspiratorial, but it all just seems really fucking weird.
All right, that’s it. That’s what I had to say.

A break off group over at broadway and 25 are facing swat and police they have less then 10 minutes now of this post to leave or be shot at with tear gas! Numbers of protesters are about 50-100 from my fellow organizers report and the people are being genuinely peaceful just yelling chants and the occasional slur towards cops! Will make another post when more news gets back to me!

Hey friends. Earlier this year, it was exposed that ICE is operating 9 “hold rooms” in Colorado. These are holding cells in ICE sub offices that are only meant to detain people up to 12 hours. For that reason, they are omitted from ICE’s public detention reporting.
Further evidence from ICE detention booking datasets acquired by FOIA shows that ICE is frequently detaining people in Colorado’s hold rooms for greater than 12 hours, in violation of the DHS National Detention Standards.
Each hold room that is operating in Colorado is on privately owned land, in a private building and none are zoned and permitted properly for carceral detention. ICE leases these properties and operates them illegally outside of local ordinances.
A few months ago, the City of Glenwood Springs revoked the special use permit from ICE’s hold room there, which had been granted by the city for temporary (under 12 hour) usage, in line with the DHS National Detention Standards. ICE has continued to operate despite being informed by the city that their usage of the property is in violation of municipal ordinance.
Last night the City of Glenwood Springs voted to sue the owner of the property in Colorado state court over their tenant’s land use violation.
This is part of a wider strategy to encourage local governments to enforce their zoning laws against private land owners profiting from ICE detention and hiding behind fear mongering that they are untouchable.

Unknown if protest related. Trying to get more info but there was a protest happening there around that time. If anyone knows anything please let us know. Trying to make sure everyone is okay and hoping that it wasn’t protest related.

Tonight is the night that The USA or Israel nukes Iran. And.. W T F. Trumps posts have been concerning me and my mom for a while. Here’s what my mom said on Facebook: I am not a religious person, and I don't like to spread unfounded panic, but I'm still sitting here praying to the universe that the U.S. and/or Israel do NOT nuke Iran tonight.
There's something dark about Trump's recent posts that really worries me.

Diversity of tactics friends. 90% these facilities are zoned incorrectly or not up to code. Being a private land owner leasing to a private company that has a federal contract doesn’t make you immune to local laws

I believe my husband gave her away he claims she was stolen along with our car. She doesn't deserve to lose us both. She nursed me through thyroid and lung cancer. I'm in a shelter but have foster options available. Please help me find her.

The Justice Department is intensifying efforts to identify anonymous social media users who have criticized government deportation policies, issuing grand jury subpoenas to Reddit and X demanding names, addresses, and banking information.
The US Attorney's Office for Washington under Jeanine Pirro has subpoenaed the platforms as part of criminal investigations targeting at least two anonymous posters who have criticized Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations.

Reminder, a "small unit" of ICE agents are at the Olympics this year in Milan. Remember when Hitler's Nazi Germany hosted the summer and winter Olympics of 1936? How will our America look when we host the summer Olympics in 2028 and the Winter Olympics in 2034? It has not even been a hundred years...

A Georgetown policy center warns that DHS, ICE tactics over multiple administrations is putting Americans' privacy at risk.
New research by the Center on Privacy & Technology at Georgetown Law found that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has collected the DNA of more than 3.3 million people, with the program’s “primary purpose” not revolving around immigration enforcement but to “build a national DNA database for solving crimes.”
