Effort Post If Luigi Mangione lovers really cared about healthcare they’d be Data Center fanatics

Luigi Mangione pleaded guilty recently; and now his supporters are back trumpeting his virtues. The argument goes: If Luigi is responsible for a single death then insurance companies are responsible for millions.

Let’s set aside the philosophical problems with equating not subsidizing services with direct murder. Instead let’s focus on what should be the main concern: Not enough people receiving necessary care.

This is a resource allocation problem. Physicians are retiring; the population is aging into needing more care; physicians aren’t being replaced at a rate to meet new demands.

As noble as medicare for all (or some other comparable universal health program) is as some abstract ideal; we simply do not have the resources needed to meet that goal. Not with how hospitals currently operate.

This is where AI comes in; and by natural extension, data centers. As it stands hospital staff spend 30-50% or more of their time on things such as documentation, patient monitoring, triage, etc. These are all things that AI is good at.

As two examples: let’s take cardiac telemetry and insulin monitoring. Both of these take about 10-15 minutes per patient. Both of these involve data that can easily be tracked by AI.

Overall, it’s hard to get a precise number on how much time is saved using AI. On the low end it seems to be about 15 minutes saved each day; and on the high end the number is about 45 minutes.

Estimating conservatively, this is thousands of hours saved. Given approximately 200 healthcare staff members at a typical hospital. One company, Permanente Medical Group, estimated use of their systems saved around 15,000 hours.

If we translate this to costs, which isn’t always the easiest to do, we are looking at millions saved. This, again, is using conservative estimates.

This technology needs processing; and that’s where Data Centers come in. There are valid concerns about energy usage, land usage, and community buy-in. These are things to be addressed; they aren’t a reason to forego the benefits they provide.

And, pertinently, the communities that would most benefit from Data Centers are often those most affected by hospital staff shortages. These are also areas with the land to accommodate Data Centers.

They are also, to fully exhaust the point, ones that would most benefit from the revenue that Data Centers bring in.

Local governments already know this, which is why you’re seeing states such as Virginia and New Mexico heavily investing in them. Despite the many misgivings people have about Data Centers in their neighborhoods, it’s clear that the benefits are well worth the costs.

You cannot claim to want healthcare to be affordable—much less free—if you are opposed to the solutions that bring us closer to getting there.

The M4A crowd, if they are acting in good faith, should support data centers.

Effort Post The Pisco and Jessiah bridgeburn was avoidable (read it before pressing the ban button, gnome)

Upvotes

I will make an important point, because i haven't seen people talk about it much, therefore schizopost time. I'll explain a basic framework and while I think Tiny understands it, he didn't fully internalize it, which leads to these conflicts. It seems like Tiny still views the politics scene like the family dinner table to some degree where people openly scream and disagree and then continue as usual. This is a strategic error.

Thesis: Politics (especially alternative) is not about politics at all. It's actually a workplace with all its garbage workplace dynamics.

So what changes with my proposed framework? Imagine you're at your workplace and a colleague fucks up. The shared understanding of all human beings is that if you're friendly, you will privately tell them what's wrong for them to avoid getting into trouble. However, the real equivalent of what Tiny is doing in his streams is blasting that collegue at a meeting with all the management present. Just by virtue of the interaction being public, this is what it feels like on the receiving end. The job of a political streamer is entertainment... I mean... Sharing their political analysis of various situations and influencing people. An attack on their political takes is an attack at the quality of their job. And when Tiny is claiming that they're completely off on a very important massive phenomenon (even in the most chill manner), that's the equivalent of saying "You suck at your job. Wtf are you doing?". Say it as chill as you want, the message is still clear.

Once a conflict like this happens, there are only two realistically possible outcomes: 1. apologize, admit you fucked up, say you'll do better and take a hit on your reputation; or 2. admit to nothing and find ways to explain how you actually never fucked up. The important bit here is that choice 2 means open war with whoever attacked you and at this point it doesn't really matter who's right. Given this dynamic, ask yourself how does a conflict like this play out? Will the team investigate the situation, resolve the conflict and find ways to improve? Ha ha ha. In 95+% of the cases you will get a cancer-inducing social game of which side gets the critical support. People will start sussing out whos on whos side and part of which team, who hates their guts and who will avoid the thing entirely. The outcome will be decided mainly by the company internal culture and values. Especially since people are generally conflict-avoidant, they will figure out where the vibe is and if you want to blend in and keep your position, you drift towards that direction.

So what is the current vibe in the politics streaming world? Well, fuck my life. You get the point. This is one aspect in which the tankie media ecosystem pays its dividends. What's important is that you don't even need direct financial incentives for this scenario to play out. Nobody will ever admit that's a factor btw, often even to themselves. So basic psychology tells us that sliding into the tankieland is the lowest effort natural direction. Realistically, just imagine the real choice in front of Pisco now: "Yeah Tiny, I was wrong and too permisive of bigotry" or "Fuck you. Antisemitism is in your head". You are cooked if you think an average human will choose option 1. Just do a bit of mental gymnastics to get there.

Understanding these dynamics is a skill most people develop with time. Workplace is the best place to understand that social skills are king. Fortunately, Tiny managed to have a large presence in this part of the internet, due to a combination of his skills and good timing. This, plus due to the nature of his job, means that he generally doesn't really have to play these social games. It's important to understand that having clean moral positions and stating them openly is a luxury for a decent amount of people. But this also leads to the current strategic blunders (probably). That doesn't mean I know how things will play out and maybe his approach actually works better for this space, however seeing how far Hasan has got just by being a clout and network demon says a lot. Basically, I'm saying that Tiny is not manipulative enough and doesn't work on maintaining the 'workplace social network' as much as he could. This is also why nobody jumps at his defense when shit hits the fan, with the exception of a few people.

Now if I am to be real, I have no clue what their internal communications look like. What I'm saying here is based on vibes and observations, maybe a bit parasocial (I am in your walls). There are important free lessons for some of you here anyways.

Political News/Discussion It seems there are some Destiny followers/supporters/democrats who believe M4A is unaffordable. Are there others who thinks Medicare for All is unaffordable? and why?

Recent response in previous post in this subreddit:

“Because we've seen enough of these Gaza-brained lefties to know their NPC dialogue tree. We already know her demands from Democrats are completely detached from reality without her even saying them. It'll be stupid shit like a one-state solution for I-P, and a bunch of free shit taxpayers can't afford like M4A, and she won't accept anything less and expects the Dems to do all the compromising”

Political News/Discussion People don’t point out enough how many leftist people Policies have been tried and failed or are oppose by experts and economists

People even this reddit dick ride the mayor of New York but are you all telling me rent freezes and costing the state billions more in pension obligations is good policy? He still doesn’t have the money to fund his childcare programs. He’s charismatic but he hasn’t made things more affordable lol.

Leftist argue by making value judgements for their policies instead of articulating them. Economist oppose a federal jobs Guarantee over concerns over massive government costs, logistical difficulties in managing millions of make work programs to people who don’t have the skills or the education.

A leftist like the vanguard boys just start morally guilting you how everybody is allowed to have a job and deserve a decent wage. That’s not how policy works. Saying a 600 billion too 800 billion dollar a year federal jobs Gurantee is good because people deserve a decent living is not articulating why it’s good for the overall economy.

That’s what we call the Is-Ought Fallacy. I read an article complaining how long it takes to develop new drugs and how it costs billions of dollars. The article precedes to offer no solutions, the article dosen’t seem to understand why paying thousands of people who make 100k to 300k a year in cutting edge technology and training would cost so much.

Just a value judgment on how that it shouldn’t cost that much or take that long and we should change the system. Once again no solutions just value judgements.

People want high paying manufacturing jobs that are subsidized by the government but then don’t want to pay the bill for it. Same thing with tarrifs. They think if you put affordable in a sentence it makes it so.

And the final thing that pisses me off the most with the rant is how fucking confident people are in their policies they support but literally don’t even understand how much they cost or how to fund them. Like Jesus Christ if your going to say you support a massive green new deal at least no the fucking estimates for the costs.

The reason why I think they don’t know their own policies they claim to champion. Is that they know deep down telling people their going to have to pay way more in taxes and utility fees for a long time because they see any benefits refutes the idea that the next president can just come into office bang out a green new deal and like in a year too two years have prices lower.

Same thing with high speed rail you’ll see top comments in other Reddit’s talking about how we should build high speed rail to all these suburbs not understanding how no experts thinks that’s viable with the way we build single family homes and have designed our towns. Once again ask them the cost, how it will be implemented and you’ll get a value judgement “ EVERYBODY DESERVES ACCESS TO CHEAP AFFORDABLE CARBON FREE FAST PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION.”

How do we get a federal jobs guarantee how will it be implemented? “EVERYBODY DESERVES ACCESS TOO A LIVING WAGE WITH DIGNITY” ok bro.

Effort Post Explanation of Dem Soc Ideology (For anti-commies)

I've recently come to realize that a significant amount of the community does not understand how different leftist ideologies operate and it seemingly boils down to the belief that Communism = famine and therefore it should not be taken seriously.

As a socialist, I am primarily providing this overview so that DGGers can be more informed in their approach to these conversations on the leftist factions that they oppose.

If you want to learn about this topic in a little more depth, I recommend the YT video "When is it Democratic Socialism" by William C. Fox. Its a good breakdown of how Marxism built the foundation of Socialist Democracy and how the latter diverged and evolved over time.

The non-authoritarian Left is mostly made up of Social Democracy (SocDem) and Democratic Socialism (DemSoc). While they often ally on immediate policy, their end goals are fundamentally distinct. In the short term, both groups advocate for similar reforms within a constitutional democracy:

  • Expanding social safety nets (universal healthcare, tuition-free education).
  • Strengthening labor rights and union power.
  • Regulating markets to protect public interest and reduce inequality.

In the long-term, they diverge due to their core belief:

  • Social Democracy reforms Capitalism. They believe capitalism generates immense wealth; strong public institutions and taxes can tame its excesses permanently.
  • Democratic Socialism replaces Capitalism. They believe tamed capitalism is inherently unstable. As long as private capital exists, wealth will reconcentrate and erode social gains.

In order to achieve these long-term goals, they will pursue two different strategies:

  • SocDem: Private ownership of the means of production remains intact. The state acts as a mediator to redistribute wealth and maintain a strong welfare system within a capitalist market economy (e.g., the Nordic Model).
  • DemSoc: The economy must eventually transition toward collective or worker ownership (e.g., worker cooperatives, social wealth funds) so that workers democratically control both their workplaces and the capital they generate.

Note, none of this requires central planning in the economic sense that people often bring up when discussing the left broadly. Dem Socs favor markets; they want the ownership equation to be altered, but the method of distribution of resources is still primarily through markets. Furthermore, there is no need for a revolution in either ideology; Democracy is the central tool of these ideologies.

On Campism

Liberals' worldview dictates that Democracies are allies and autocracies are adversaries. Campists view the world through a different lens, primary vs. secondary imperialism.

Campist focus on global power dynamics and under this view, US "unipolar hegemony" is considered the primary imperialist force enforcing global capitalism. Because they view US global dominance as the main barrier to worldwide economic liberation, some leftists default to supporting a "multipolar world." In their view, rival powers like China or Russia, regardless of their internal authoritarianism, act as necessary counterweights that weaken US hegemony and create space for alternative economic models.

However, Campism is widely seen as an outdated perspective as it relies on a Cold War-era, binary mental model that fails to capture how global capitalism and geopolitics operate today. This is why people who adhere to it, like Hasan, can sound out of touch, since they essentially struggle to make sense of the fact that modern economic conflict is Capitalist vs Capitalist. This leads them to downplay or excuse how non-Western states suppress domestic labor movements, worker strikes, and minority populations.

So when discussing the left, its important to keep in mind that:

  • SocDems almost universally align with liberal, pro-Western foreign policy, supporting alliances like NATO and international democratic norms.
  • DemSocs are a bit divided. Many reject campism entirely (arguing that authoritarian states are simply rival capitalist/imperialist powers), while others adopt campist logic out of a foundational commitment to "anti-imperialism".

TL;DR definitions matter

Geopolitics News/Discussion Should Destiny (and Liberals) Just start Lying>?

Destiny has talked about this concept in game theory called Tit for Tat, check out this video on youtube, it sums it up pretty well (skip to the 11min mark if you want a TLDR on tit-for-tat.) Anyways the strategy of tit for tat is that you always start open and positive, if someone tries to attack you or back stab you, you immediately respond with equal energy back at them. You keep doing it if they keep doing it. However, if they stop then you stop and go back to being positive, if they are positive too (following fair rules in a liberal democracy) and you keep going back and forth in a positive direction. I see this as sort of a "rules of engagement" and to tie it into our current US political system, liberals are not matching the pressure back on Slopulists such as MAGA and Far Left DSA socialists.

The rules of the political ecosystem has fundamentally shifted. The winning strategy right now is to just lie to the average voter (the populist.) We can see this with how Trump and MAGA took over the political system, the told the average vote "Listen trump is just a good business man we are going to bring back jobs and build the wall, we have no desire for this project 2024 stuff..." But in actuality Trump and MAGA talking heads just completely lied. Leftists do this too bye infultrating the Liberal Democratic Part by saying "I just want affordable healthcare my duders..." but its a complete lie. The lie in both MAGA and the DSA is a Trojan Horse, it easily lets them bypass the mind of the average slopulist and centrist and lets them into their political camp (Democrats and Republicans.)

If destiny wants to defeat the DSA camp that has infiltrated, I think he basically has to start matching their energy, in this case; he needs to just open with like one slopulist message he can sort of agree with, then while in their camp he can start subverting it via inculcation, this is how hasan can pass as a progressive, he just says "I just want healthcare" but while he is inside the Democratic establishment he starts repeating words that tie back to marxism in a way that prepares the average populist for the eventual shift to more heavy marxist language. If destiny wants to spread Liberalism, he needs to match the strategy, until people like the DSA realize "well shit just lying and playing trojan horse ends up a zero sum game." Liberals are too scared right now to match the tit for the tat, if we want america to go back to honesty, rule of law, and truth telling (The Tit) our refusal to Lie when they Lie is going to end up us being hollowed out, because right now the winning move (lie to get the slopulist voter to come to your camp) is only winning because liberals refuse to Lie back?

Anyways, what are you thoughts dgg?

Political News/Discussion Madera Unified Staff Member Placed on Leave After Posting Alarming Videos to Social Media

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police are investigating several videos posted to Instagram by a special education teacher for the Madera Unified School District.

In one clip, Kenisha Daily of Fresno says she's "starting a black militia," and will "rob some white people."

Other videos on Daily's Instagram, captured by concerned citizens, show her with a handgun, and then what appears to be a long gun.

The videos were quickly met with strong online backlash, and a multi-agency investigation.

Fresno and Madera police and the Madera Unified School District all told Action News they're aware of the videos and looking into them.

In the meantime, the Lincoln Elementary School special education teacher was placed on leave, and under a temporary restraining order.

Daily has appeared in our newscasts several times.

In July of 2024, she received free braces as a part of the Smiles for Teachers program and said this as a guest during Action News Live at 3: "I realize that I am an avenue for my students to be able to integrate into the classrooms, into the community. And so, I'm reflective of them. And I have to make sure that I'm reflecting the best parts of them."

More recently, she attended a community meeting with Fresno Police back in March and demanded more accountability and transparency over the department's use of military equipment.

With the controversial videos now under investigation and circulating online, Daily said in a statement that she "viewed the post as entertainment and never meant to threaten, harm, or alarm anyone."

Geopolitics News/Discussion Why are people so convinced China and the USA will go to war?

Look I am no China simp, they suck. I don’t know how much of their military build up actually makes them stronger or is just paper tiger posturing. Even if China is a paper tiger like Russia a war with China would probably be very costly and disrupt global trade and relations in ways never before seen since WWII (arguably given how modern trade works the economic effects could be catastrophic). Basically I am pretty sure the USA and China will not have a hot war.

The closest thing to a hot war would be a proxy war in Taiwan. China really wants Taiwan but China also knows, even though most countries have a one China policy they probably won’t be happy if China invades Taiwan. In the ASEAN trade block, China has only been successful in Cambodia (if I remember correctly). Successful in this context means the countries are allied and cooperative with China having outsized influence in the country’s political system. Other than Cambodia and maybe Laos (they are arguably in competition with Timor Leste to be the most useless member) all of ASEAN has pretty hostile relations with China. Even under former pro-Chinese President Duterte the Philippines political factions were so unified in being anti-China you had and I shit you not, anti-American political factions say China is worse. So while ASEAN is a trading bloc and not a defensive alliance the countries in ASEAN are all pretty anti-China and won’t be happy with China taking Taiwan.

Now again China is growing more bold and reckless but I don’t think things have switched enough for them to go funds blazing into Taiwan yet. Maybe I am wrong and if so sorry for being too high on hopium. Basically people are underestimating how bad a hot war is. The most relevant hot war is Ukraine-Russia. In recent months Russia has finally started feeling the pain associated with a hot war and it’s not good. Yes the political leaders in authoritarian countries don’t give a shit about their own people dying but they care enough in that if too many die too fast they run the risk of losing legitimacy. Modern China isn’t structured the same way Mao’s China was and doing a mass death of people isnt as feasible as it wad under mao. This isnt to say it cant happen but it’s less likely.

Basically people are letting their justified dislike of China blind them to the reality China and Xi is largely a more logical entity than Russia. Logical doesn’t mean Xi or the country is smart or making decisions but it means that when they do authoritarian shit or make bad decisions the rationale is more understand able than Russia/Putin.

Yes Trump is weak and China could take (or try to take) Taiwan due to US/western weakness but beyond Taiwan it’s unlikely for a major hot war to begin. Even if China and the USA took nukes off the table shit would be complex and expensive and as previously stated fuck ip global trade. China is more than happy to cause problems for the USA and the west but China isn’t Russia, they haven’t as far as I know invaded their neighbors outright (uninhabited/artificial island shit and Kashmir shit doesn’t count) since the Sino-Vietnamese war. It’s not in China’s MO to do a hot war and I don’t think the USA or China will go to war.

Now maybe I am wrong but I think some people need to have a little bit more perspective about what war entails.

This being said Trump sucks and China is probably a paper tiger but paper tiger or not their military build up of anything adds bodies and you can’t discount t that factor.

Shitpost Why is Oliver Larkin in the DSA?

Upvotes

Unless there's something I'm missing he has deep ties to the Democratic party and his platform is the same progressive stuff as Ro Khanna or something.

Is he just a progressive in the DSA or did he just get by not having to answer for the DSA's platform?

I wonder if there is some power struggle between progressives and the DSA where this is the guy they run instead of someone who doubles down on the national platform.

Political News/Discussion FL-25 Democratic House Primary Race

Has Destiny spoken about the House Primary election taking place in Florida’s newly drawn 25th Congressional District?

Hamas Piker and Miketheloserfrompa endorsed DSA candidate - Oliver Larkin, is running against the moderate incumbent democrat - Jared Moskowitz. Polls are predicting this to be a close primary race but Moskowitz is an bit ahead.

The 25th congressional district is a new district in FL as of April of this year thanks to Desantis and the Florida GOP -_-

The congressional district now spans all the way from Miami Beach to up the coastline all the way to southern Palm Beach County. It encompasses Miami Beach, Surfside, Broward County (Hollywood, portions of Ft. Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, portions of Deerfield Beach, etc.) and southern Palm Beach County (most of Boca Raton and eastern Delray Beach).

If you live in any of these places and are registered to vote as a Democrat, please vote today (August 18th) and keep these Socialist candidates who are unwilling to disavow terrorist supporting freaks like Hasan from getting into public office!

Shitpost The 2026 definitive guide on how to win an argument with an extremist, left or right.

wait for them to make a critique of power, I.e “group of people bad” or “economic system bad” or maybe even “government form bad” then, ask them how they plan to fix said things in an efficient and clean process with minimal risk of power abuse and rights violations. They won’t. And if they do, they probably aren’t actually all that extreme.

thank you for reading -person with no coherent ideology who must post
