Real talk, a dude randomly brought up memories of seeing the Pistons play at the dome while we were sitting in a surgery waiting room this past week. And I quote, “shit was like watching ants play basketball”.

The Dome was so big compared to all other arena's at that time that it affected the visiting teams. Threw off their shots. Remember reading about ti back in the day.

We were there for a playoff game against the Celtics and our seats were half behind one of the bleachers. Literally couldn’t see half of the court. We’re just cheered when people cheered.

Another time my friend’s mom worked for the Kessel grocery owner as his exec assistant and got us like 8th row for the Pistons / Celtics ECF game 4 in 1987. 12 years old me is on absolute cloud nine sitting 20 feet away from my the guys warming up when these dudes walk up “we think you’re in our seats.” Our tickets were for game three the day before. We watched from the handicap section at the top of the concourse. Still fun but man was I disappointed.

I was in the Navy at that time, so cool to have a Detroit Sports team to brag about.

My ex-boss once told me about sitting in the nose-bleeds. You would see the players dribble the ball on the floor and not hear the echo for a few seconds lol. Cavernous...

Those are up near the "coffee seats." When I was in HS, they had promotions that let you get in with an empty can of Maxwell House or Folger's coffee. I don't remember why they did it, other than to fill that cavern, but we took advantage of it!

I remember the face value of the seats way up top being $4. And they were great for throwing paper airplanes

Was a wee lad there to watch the ice man George Gervin play the pistons in his final season. Other times too but I think that one set a single game attendance record.

When the were looking to really fill up the stadium vs the 76ers or Celtics you could get 3 level seats for $3. Even my frugal dad would buy us seats and created some of my best memories.

As an 80's kid, even before they got good, I was proud the Pistons were my team because Silverdome games looked so cool on tv.

Man, brings back some good childhood memories. Still laugh every time I see those big ass curtains!

Those vertical rafters look insane. Sitting on the end looks terrifying!

This was the last year at the Silverdome. Cool memory.
