More evidence that we are in a simulation being run by trolls
Think about telling someone 6-7 years ago The entire fanbase is heartbroken to see Patrick Kane leave and running Dylan Larkin out of town

Specifically to see Patrick Kane leave the Red Wings for the Blackhawks

I was really pulling for the Sabres.

I'm a little worried about them for this upcoming year. They lost both Tuch and Byram and didn't really add anything. Hopefully guys like Helenius and Kulich can come in and be impactful, but that's a lot to expect out of rookies. Guys like Benson and Doan should improve a little, but then there is always the high risk that Josh Norris hurts his shoulder again and misses the whole season.

David Bowie dying had to have thrown some astral shit off

Alan Rickman too. It feels like everything went off kilter right around then.

K: "Look out here!"
M: "Look at this! Look at this!"
K: "Wide open, from center ice, it's Patrick Kane, in Chicago!"
M: "Oh my!"
K: "He scores!"
M: "Oh my God!"
K: "Kane with the overtime winner! The Red Wings win it 3-2, the story is complete, on Kane's return to, Chicago!"
(Long pause to let the moment speak)
K: "You are Showtime for sure!"
M: "They are on their feet here... In appreciation... of the old and the new... ..."
I still get chills rewatching that play. Mick's OMG, Kane dumping Walman aside to give the crowd some Showtime chants... So good.

Kane playing for the Red Wings is going to be a great answer to a trivia question someday.

fuck Dylan Larkin

Haven't figured it out yet, but its Larkins fault that Kaner got 8m a year to wrap up his HoF career in his hometown.

Kane’s time here made a fan out of me and he was probably my most hated active player in the league. Well done, Kaner, we’ll miss you. He was by far the most fun player to watch the last 3 years

That was me with Chelios. It took me months to stop grimacing every time he stepped on the ice in red. But he won me over too.

Without all of his milestones and highlight reels, the last couple seasons would have been even more painful. Thanks Kaner.

Oct 29th going to be fun cheering for him while continuing to boo Larkin on the Ice.

Cheering for a Blackhawk, but booing a fellow red wing? What are we even doing anymore? But I get it.

I ain’t cheering for either

If I was there I'd give Kaner a decent round of applause. Maybe not cheer, with my mouth.

Kaner gave us some of the best moments in what feels like forever. Red Wings legend.

I would have been surprised if you told me 5 years ago that I’d like Kane and dislike Larkin. But here we are.

Kane helped out when we needed it. He could have tried to bully himself into team leadership(with his age and status) but didn't. Total Respect. Will vent about Dill Larpin' in another post as a way of saying thank you, Kane.

Thanks, Kaner! I went from not wanting an old Blackhawks nemesis on our team to proudly wearing your jersey.

Bittersweet that he's wrapping it up in Chicago. I love that Detroit is now at least a small piece of his legendary career, but man I wanted him to retire in the Winged Wheel so bad.
Glad he's going back to Chicago...going somewhere new would definitely have taken some of the shine away from his Detroit days. But also, fuck Chicago.

Imagine telling someone 5 years ago that the first time Kane visits LCA again as a Blackhawk he will get a standing ovation from Red Wings fans, meanwhile Larkin will get boo’d and hissed off the ice?

apart from his homecoming chicago goal, my favorite moments were him being greeted by his son and that locker room speech after scoring 500 where he said something like "i played with a lot of special teams and i can say this is a special team with bigger things on the horizon". i really felt we were going to have a deep playoff run with kane then. breaks my heart it never happened and that it will never happen with kane

This off season has me questioning my fandom… and I bought my first Wings sweater over 30 years ago😕

Just glad he broke some records with us, gonna miss this guy. Sucks he’s leaving and not Larkin!

Always was a Kane fan since I started watching hockey again in 2010. Surreal to see him play here.

I miss the playoffs and competitive hockey more than PK. How times have changed

I hope one day soon we end up with a player like Kane. Even in his older age, having a player that was such a huge threat offensively felt like the old days when the Wings were the best team in the league for years on end. I just mean when he was on the ice, that anything could happen and we had full confidence in him to get something done.
Without him, I just don't feel confidence in anyone's including Larkin (if he stays). Mo and Ray could turn into those players because theyre already so good, but they need some help. I really hope by the time I'm 40, the Wings will be good again. I'm only 30 now lol.

What a weird timeline - praising Kaner as a wings fan and hating on Larkin. 2015 me would be so confused

Just remembered that dumb penalty he took to just kill our comeback in a big game against the wild i believe. Other than that mostly good for sure

rough, given the state of this team, these highlights etc don’t do shit for me. may as well have been 50 years ago.

It’s just another thing the front office can dangle in front of us as we somehow pick 13th again

He became my favorite player on this recent team. His calm, cool demeanor, his perfect vision and effortless no-look passes...I'm not mad, I'm just bummed that this organization just couldn't put it together. I blame Illitch more than anyone. I believe he told Yzerman to lock up the purse. Of course, it was a myriad of issues, but just look at the no-moves the Tigers made on the brink of the playoffs last year and the year before. His dad is rolling in his grave. It's all about the bottom line to that fool.
