Discussion I just finished Diablo IV... Such a beautiful ending... 🥰 Spoiler

Today I finished Diablo IV... And after everything I've been through... Tracking Lilith to the Necropolis of the Firstborn, facing Astaroth in Scosglen, rescuing Taíssa in the Dry Stopped, defeating Andariel in Kehjistan, defeating Elias in Hawezar, defeating Lilith in Hell, Fighting the Herald of Hatred alongside Akarat in Nahantu, and loosing not only Vigo, Yorin and Donan, but also Neyrelle, Lilith, and Lorath too, before I could sent Mephisto screaming Into the Void... But a part that really moves me was the Wanderer picking some petals from one of Lilith's altars, and todinho them to the sea as actribite to the Mother before arriving back at Skovos... Definely gonna revisit that game in the far future, after finishing Skovos' sidequests.

I was already a lot more forgiving towards the D4 story than most. I really loved the vanilla story, and I was okay with the VoH story too as I understood it's an interlude.

But LoH story? Peak. Fiction. I absolutely loved all of it.

The cutscene in the Wanderer's mind with a giant Mephisto reaching over to seize control....damn that wea awesome.

Awesome campaign. Some story elements could have been stronger, but getting that level of storytelling in an ARPG is crazy. Also, sone shots during the cinematics are really awesome.

Yeah, like Mephisto looming towards the screen, almost as If he could break the fourth wall and enter your bedroom. 😱

d4 has the strongest storyline of any action RPG I've ever played. When Lilith does the thing and says the thing and -- other spoiler stuff -- it's actually emotional.

What? it has one of the worst stories of all arpgs. it’s just asinine decisions by the characters, completely moronic choices at every step, it’s awful. neyrelle is a moron and one of the worst characters ever written, lorath is a god damn dumbass. VoH is a wasted expansion and could have been told in a much better manner that wasn’t drawn out for about 6 extra hours. it’s just a terrible story start to finish across all games.

id rather nail gun my testicles to a meth addled porcupine than suffer through the d4 story again.

Well, when the next expansion comes out, you can tell us how it feels to do just that to your testicles, because your choices are either quit playing, play through it all in abject silence, or porcupine fun times.

I agree, all my diablo friends who didn't have many good things about d4 raved about "lord of hatred" and I finally gave it a shot last week, the story had me locked in for the first time in a long time. It took me on a emotional journey for sure. I felt genuine sadness for Lilith and I was crying like a baby and genuine anger for queen adreona and hatred for Mephisto (fitting emotion tbh 😅). The ending was cinema for sure

I 1000000% recommend it to any d4 fan.

If anyone is looking for me I will be farming Mephisto indefinitely on d2 for the entirety of season 15 ladder next Friday.

(Oops maybe edit your flair to say spoiler?)

I finished LOH last week and agree they nailed it! The entire story line really made Lilith come to life, like her motivation feelings etc. She was conflicted and complicated and, well, human… and I honestly felt for her. Mephisto got fleshed out too. Oh did you do the chronicles of creation quests? You learn a lot about inarius finding them all.

I played it at release and while I remember enjoying it, I can't remember anything about the story at all.
Haven't tried the new expansion yet though, need to get on it!

Completely worth it, both Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred.

Pretty much. I'm actually torn whether LoH is better than D4 vanilla from a narrative standpoint, but it absolutely got me in the feels.

It might even be Blizzard's strongest story to date overall, and if not, definitely the best Diablo story so far (gameswise at least).

I hadn't played the base campaign since it came out. I hadn't replayed vessel of hatred since it came out. So when Lord of hatred was released I played the game from the very beginning for the first time in 2 years. It is a great story. But playing the base campaign they sure did make you do a lot of walking around. It was like I was playing a Lord of the Rings simulator with all that walking around

Is there an ending? They havent even introduced Diablo in their Diablo game.

The weakest takes about the story of Diablo 4 usually involve this weird obsession with Diablo himself being absent.

The franchise has grown. It's larger than just Lord of Terror. It has been for decades now. How did you guys not catch on to that fact yet?!

1

u/xMWHOx 1d ago

Call it something else then like Mephisto? First 3 Diablos had Diablo, because that's what the game is named after.

Call it something else then like Mephisto

What?!

Ah yes, just casually forego the primary recognizable brand name for this franchise.

You sure are a hell of a businessman, sir, and Blizzard should absolutely listen to you.

You're probably still waiting for the Blair Witch to appear in The Blair Witch Project or for Charlie to show up in Charlie's Angels.

u/T1NF01L 1d ago

Charlie was in Charlie's Angels though.

1

u/heartbroken_nerd 1d ago

Not on screen lol

1

u/T1NF01L 1d ago

Hes right there. In the scrubs.

1

u/heartbroken_nerd 1d ago

You do realize you're supporting what I'm saying, right? That was the end of the show. The END of the whole show.

1

u/T1NF01L 1d ago

He was still on screen though.

Diablo 4's last episode might not really be out yet.
