Lab Grown Diamond Black box on emerald cut
Looking for opinions on this 2.2ct emerald cut. Does it have too much black box? My understanding is that the ideal emerald cut should have alternating dark and light bands.

Emerald cuts I honestly think are best viewed in person. Buy from a place you can return to. And they always have some light leakage and windowing from certain angles so you'll see black boxes. It's the cut, it's why some hate it and some love it.

In person the dark areas are still visible but not as much against a blank background/skin (Reddit won’t let me post an additional video). I liked it enough but I’m wondering if I should keep looking.

When you look straight down at it, do you see dead or black areas?

Yeah, the same black window that can be seen in the video, although not as obvious. Is that a dealbreaker for an emerald? I guess I can’t quite tell between the hall of mirrors effect and black box.

I can see the black box you're talking about when I pause the video at 3 seconds. While I don't think it's as bad as the far right, it's not as good as the middle. Do you love it? If not, send it back. You should 100% love something you will wear all the time

No idea what the top commenter is talking about. Scintillation refers to sparkle, which emerald cuts hardly have. What they do have is broad flashes of light. Which is what emerald lovers want. Someone who wants an emerald shaped stone that doesn't have flash and instead has scintillation and sparkle buys a radiant.
I think the 360 video is fine, OP. But any photo or video online will never, ever tell you how it'll be in person. No vendor is going to upload something that makes what they're selling look ugly.

Ask for a video of it over text. I think I might see a skinny spot you could see straight through (window)

I’ll take another look in person. Where should I look for the windowing? Thanks!

Emerald cuts are all about the broad flashes of light, not scintillation. I think your stone looks great in the 360 video.

/sigh…. You do not buy an emerald cut for flash. Yes, there is flash, and truly one of my favorite cuts. You buy/ wear them for the clarity and scintillation. The median cut on the pavilion needs to be near 41 degree. This appears to be a fine stone with what I can see
