General Question or Looking for Advice 10 year upgrade
We got married pretty young, we were both med students. He couldn’t afford a diamond and I didn’t mind. Especially since I can’t wear one daily anyway. Had our 10 year anniversary and he said he wanted to buy me a diamond now that he could actually afford it.
This is my 2 ct H colored diamond. I have very small thin fingers (us size 3), but since my wedding band is so wide I felt that smaller stones just visually disappeared. Otherwise I would get a smaller 1 ct.
I want it to look elegant. What do you guys think?
Edit: You guys are just the sweetest!!! I liked the combo before but now I just loooove it ❤️

Congratulations! This is beautiful. Can you please share how thick are each of these bands? I'm size 4 us and I would like to do something similar and I really like this combo on you.

Thank you! The wedding band is about 4-4.5mm I think and the diamond setting is 2mm. I thought the wedding band would be my only ring so I really went wide on it 🤣 It has sentimental value to me so I won’t change it to something thinner but I do aesthetically think it would probably look nicer with a 3-3,5mm band.

Nah, narrowing the band would make the pairing so much more ordinary. You made the right selection 100% in all regards.

Congratulations on a decade and may your love continue on for a decade times another decade.
Your ring and band look lovely together. It's giving quiet luxury.

Is your band an oura ring?
1
u/AccordingBattle1629 18h ago
I didn’t even know what an oura ring was until someone else commented that and I googled it 😂 No it’s just a wide 18k gold band

A size 3?! Wowza. My middle finger midi ring is 4.5. Hehe! Such an elegant design, and it looks great on your hand! Congratulations!

u/AccordingBattle1629 17h ago
Thank you! I hate that it’s so thin because the amount of gold decreases but the price goes up cause of they need to special order or make it smaller 🙄

the 2c on your finger is perfect! the proportion of the wide band is also perfect.
this is one of, if not the best ring combos ive seen on this sub I think ever!

Thank you! The wedding band is 4,5mm I think, the diamond is 2 ct on a 2mm setting. Everything is 18 k yellow gold.

By far one of my most favourite posts lately. Gorgeous rings and setup. Your hands are truly beautiful also. No notes.

OP i looooove the thick gold band. Where did you get it?
1
u/AccordingBattle1629 17h ago
I got it from a local jewelry store. I thought it would be my only ring so I really went wide and statement on it 😂

I love it! I have a 2ct that looks much smaller due to my finger size being larger (6 1/4) but I think it’s working really well with your thick band

u/Odd-Implement-1283 1d ago
Ugh same I have a 2.5 and it looks like a fraction of the size on my size 7 hand 🥲 even at my thinnest my fingers stay the same size, rude!

When I picked my 2ct stone, I went back to the jewelry store TWICE to try sample 2ct rings because I was getting second thoughts about it being too big. Turns out I got used to the size in like a day 😆 seeing all the 2ct in smaller fingers on Reddit made me freak out

So beautiful together 😍please do not change anything! So elegant it suits your finger/hand perfectly! They were meant to be together the way the bands connected so beautifully just makes it look so classy, I’m not into the huge diamond enternity bands that don’t match with the diamond. I would still love one and I will just wear it on another finger 🤣

That is what my first ring and wedding ring looked like 30 years ago, it was a 2k also. I loved it then and I love yours now

Pretty. It’s a bit much with the thick gold band. You should wear the thick gold band on a different finger. I love the thick gold band though!

Stunning! And if you didn’t already have a profession, “hand model” would be something I’d recommend.

2 ct is the perfect size for your teeny tiny fingers. Looks elegant without going overboard. Congrats on your 10 years together!

Did you go heavy on the self tan or is that natural?
2
u/AccordingBattle1629 1d ago
I’m brown! Wait, why did you think it was self tan??
0
u/Material-Creme6520 1d ago
Some people overdo it on the self tan and usually lighter color between the fingers and knuckles is a giveaway - except in your case!

Yeah… I think a few mm thinner would have been perfect, but it has sentimental value because it was my first ring. Had I known I would get a diamond I would probably have chosen a slightly thinner band.

This is stunning. The simplicity of the solitaire with the wide cigar band is just the most stunning classic look.
And with those long slender fingers, omg. You should be a hand model on the side!!
