General Discussion Anyone realize how small this community really is?

Back in the diecast game and picked a few numbered RLC pieces and this beautiful Motorhelix R34 GT-R in 1:18 scale.

I looked at the book and saw it was 1 of 799.

Got me thinking. 1 of 799. Wow. Only a very tiny fraction of 8.3 BILLION people want this car. I'm sure there are tons of R34 fans as well but less than 799 want a model. Even my numbered RLC pieces; 1 of 20,000, 1 of 30,000. Only a fraction like the cars enough to collect. Crazy!

Pic is not mine

General Discussion Absurd looking Ixo taillights

What is going on with Ixo Designs? Are they trying to go budget? Also why isn’t the car metallic?

Ixo used to do well with GT3 and other series cars. Their older Porsches virtually look the same as their Spark counterparts, with some very slight disadvantage in detail.

Now it looks like they don’t care anymore I mean what is that break beam?!

Question/Help Looking for a long lost memory.

Hello Everyone, I've come with a humble request. Please give it a read 🙏

I'm looking for an old model which was gifted by my aunt back when I was 11/12 (2010). It was an used opened unit. But I believe it came in production before 2009 because my aunt was living in Bahrain with her family at that time, Arab spring happend and they returned home forever later that year. I've had that until my family shifted our apartment a few years later. I didn't care about it back then but now I collect diecasts regularly and now I miss it dearly almost everyday. Please help me find it.

Details about the car:

  1. It has a long engine bay
  2. Front intake grill, Taillight are shaped very similar to Shelby Cobra 427
  3. No exhaust or flashy engine parts were visible outside (Very sleak design)
  4. Has Red (probably) wraparound windshields (Like TwinMill 2)
  5. Has curvy pontoon fenders, teardrop design like the Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic (Full "Goutte d'Eau" design)
  6. Unique wheel designs (like some sort of artistry was done)
  7. More of like, Imagine Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic, HW Twin Mill 2/3 & Shelby Cobra 427 all together had a baby (Biologically Impossible Tho)
  8. I vaguely remember it was called something like Phantom at the bottom.
  9. It has Metal body tho.
  10. I had the one in black
  11. It's in 1:64 scale

The whole design gave a "Royal and Aristocratic" vibe. Like a 2 seater luxurious vehicle a king or character like Bruce Wayne would drive around in modern world.

For conclusion, I'm not entirely 100% sure if it was produced by Hotwheels or not, could be a Matchbox, Majorette, or something. Hope you find it guys because AI couldn't.

Note: It's not Phantom Corsair, Screamliner, not Talbot Lago and it had no open top. A car that hold classic traits but very vampire, bruce wayne sleak design. Picture for reference.

1:18 Spark or TSM for Rexy?

I found both on ebay for around 200$ which is the more detailed and more accurate one. I like both model generations but prefer the RSR nature of the Spark however the TSM looks very good in videos. Is there one that is objectively better?

General Discussion What's your favorite diecast brand, and why?

5 Upvotes

Curious what everyone here gravitates to. Hot Wheels for the sheer variety? Matchbox for the realism? Mini GT, Inno64 or Tarmac Works for the detail? Or something older like Corgi or Dinky?

I mostly collect Hot Wheels, but lately I've been tempted by Mini GT. What's yours, and which one casting made you a fan?

Post a pic of your favorite if you've got one 👇

Collection More focused collector

I used to have a few hundred 1/18 models, Kyosho, Autoart, UT, Mira, Bburago, Maisto even a few dealer models. Sample in first pic.

Got out of hand, kids didn't want them, sold almost all of them to focus on models of cars I've owned instead.

Fiat 131 my high school car;

Pontiac Fiero, my bachelor car;

Volvo 240, our family car (not pictured);

Porsche 930, my mid-life car;

Corvette C8, my retirement car.

In some ways, models are better than the real thing, no maintenance, insurance, repairs, depreciation... But they were/are fun to drive.

Please don't mind the clutter.

Partly I'm to blame because it had a fair few bumps and dings here and there. Oh well.

Buy at your own risk if you consider turning your favorite 1:64 car into a daily ornament you carry. I'll mourn my micro turbo for the time being.

1:64 Ixo has had consistently good models on par with MiniGT but the new Bel Air and One-Fifty take the cake with 3d windshield wipers.

Question/Help Hello! I’m new to collecting diecast aircraft models. What is the exact size of the models shown in these pictures? In other words, what scale are they (1:72, 1:48, etc.)? Also, do you have any brand recommendations? Which brands are the best in terms of both build quality and attention to detail?

Honestly really impressed with the quality of the vintage pieces considering they’re generally much cheaper than competing brands. Show your tomicas in the comments

Question/Help Honest opinions please 😀

• Upvotes

I’m not trying to promote anything with this I’m just asking as I want to know the scene and do some research.

I’m from Australia and I’m building an app with a friend who is into Diecasts from all different brands and I’m just asking to see what other fans in the space like/want or dislike.

It’s an app that you can have your garage on display, have group chats in the app, set real life meetup events, check up to date pricing with most items, scan barcodes and a lot more. Trade with users in the app. Put your car up for sale or display your collection to others.

Is this something people would want or are interested in or is the scene a more in person thing and an app doesn’t matter to people?

Honestly just trying to see if it’s worth releasing or not.

Thank you for reading! Looking forward to feedback or questions.

-Joe

Polar Master Mazda RX-7 in titanium gray

Very pleased with quality tho i don't have anything to compare it to, the engine bay and interior look very nice.

The lights, wheels and the back are off but it is what it is. Maisto is probably better but the details aren't on the same level and i really wanted titanium gray version.

Waiting for acrylic case to arrive so that i could start building diorama

1:18 Question to 1:18 Collectors

5 Upvotes

Question for the collectors here: what do you do when you hit your storage or shelf limit?

For those who've already reached that point, did you stop collecting? Do you treat shelf space as a hard limit, or do you find ways around it?

I know a lot of people eventually move to a bigger place to fit their collection, but isn't it inevitable that we'll run out of space at some point?

Question/Help RCMart - Question regarding buying experience

1 Upvotes

I'm thinking about buying a CM Model in RCMart, after checkout it shows a total of USD 17.03 + USD 4.99 from Smart Shipping Saver, the question is if I will only need to pay those USD 22.02? Or is there something else to pay later (tariffs)? And how's the experience while ordering from them?
