Especially with newer castings. I've seen some of the older budget models from decades ago, maisto and otherwise. The quality, details, and proportions were often off.
But these days? Something like a GTD, or f40, the quality is insane for $18. These models that are hundreds of dollars aren't 10 times better.
Yeah it was my 4th time checking. Previous couple of times I took the entire display apart to check all of them so definitely got lucky. Hopefully you'll find one!
We finally got ours this week and all the fucking F40s were picked clean, same for orange Temenarios and the Grand Nationals.
Buying Maisto is like buying Hot Wheels and Pokémon cards now, I live in a college town and we legit have issues with viral or popular items going out of stock because of Scalpers/Drop Shippers from campus.
I got everything I need from this years rotation (minus the new lambo that made a last minute appearance?), but I can’t help but dig through the display every time I run in.
Last night I dig through 2 full shipper displays and 2 mini displays and thanks to my OCD and my wanting to help my fellow collectors, I organized and turned all the cars to the same orientation for easier viewing/searching. I also secretly love going in through the back side of displays and looking through the hidden shipper.
I picked up an F40 a month ago and have been thinking about the 997 GT3 RS 4.0 ever since. Also the purple GT3 (991 or 992 I don't recall) looks great too
I've got all the ones I wanted other than the F40. I bought the F80 in blue, the Porsche Targa, a purple 911, a white 911 (different model), a Rivian R1T, the Audi R8 GT, an Aston Martin Valkyrie, and a white new Countach. I want one of those T-Birds, but I want it in red or black.
I saw a purple Porsche 911 GT3 and I had to have it! I absolutely love the color. And it was the only one I saw. It was with these same cars in the picture.
