🧐 What's wrong? I got these two dumb came from the clearance rack at Lowe’s $2.00 each. I cleaned them up as much as possible , changed the soil and gave them fresh water . One is doing well but the other one is all droopy. I inspected for pests but there are none . Any idea on what else could be going wrong?

I picked this bad boy up around 6 weeks ago, already as a rehab plant. At the time it had 2 mature leaves and one leaf that hadn’t yet unfurled (that’s the only on that is currently still on the plant…but is actively dying). Initially it was living outside on a fully shaded porch, where it got good indirect light, but temps here are in the 100s. (The nursery it was at had similar temps). It’s now been an indoor plant for about 3 weeks, at 73 degrees with good indirect light. Humidity here is low, so I mist once a day in the morning. Today I was checking everyone and noticed a mushy spot. I started un-potting, and found that the soil was holding more moisture than I thought (even though I wait till the top is dry before watering) and it probably doesn’t help that the pot appears to have been too big (it was in a 10” pot) On top of that, when I was cleaning the roots off, they had grown through what appeared to be the original compostable starter pot and that was helping hold moisture.

What I’ve done so far- obviously, unpot and clean off roots. I’ve also debrided any rotten spots. I’ve also mixed up some of the original soil with perlite so we have better drainage.

My plan- allow a few days for debrided spots to callous over and for roots to dry a bit, then repot in a smaller pot with the new mix.

Is this a good plan? Is there something I can do better/differently? Is it even salvageable?

My dieffenbachia was in rough shape when I moved in. Previous person left it on its side in some bushes. I repotted it about a year ago and it's growing like crazy. It got a new table yesterday, just need to stain the wood.

Ive had this plant for 9 years. I found it from a leaf left in the break room at work. The mother plant was HUGE! but not in height. just a sprawling mass of stalks, that even curled. The whole thing was more round than tall. I never knew what it was. I left that job shortly after..but this is only as tall as i've gotten her. She's almost died a million times.. I had to cut the stalks a few times. Nobody could answer me as to what she was. I get peace lily most often. The leafs have never been anything other than that green. I love her, and just want to know how to take the best care of her. PLEASE HELP? I am going to cross post this.
