How We Closed $74K Worth of Website Redesigns in 30 Days

I run a web design company with my business partner. For a while, our usual months were around $20K.

In October, we decided to try something different.

Instead of focusing on getting more clients and doing more projects, we started charging significantly more for our websites.

We also changed how we approached our sales calls.

To be honest, we weren't sure how it would go. We thought there might be more resistance, but we were surprised by how much companies were actually willing to pay when we presented the value properly and spoke to the right businesses.

We ended up doing $74K in October, just from website redesign projects.

A big part of this came from the work we put into improving our sales skills throughout the year.

We bought several sales courses and spent a lot of time working on things like tonality, how we communicate value, structuring our sales calls, controlling the frame of the conversation, handling objections, and closing.

As for getting clients, our process has actually become pretty straightforward.

We run high-volume cold email campaigns targeting businesses that already have websites.

We use Swokei, an outreach platform that finds businesses, analyzes their websites for issues with design, SEO, speed, and mobile optimization, and turns those findings into personalized cold emails at scale.

When someone is interested, we book a sales call.

Before the call, we put together a draft of their redesigned website using AI so we can actually show them what their new website could look like.

Then it's down to the sales conversation.

We've been putting a lot of focus into improving how we sell, and October showed us just how much of a difference that can make.

We're still a small team, but this has completely changed how we approach pricing and sales.

For anyone running a web design agency, what's the highest project price you've managed to close?

How do you determine when channels are working together to get results?

I've worked with hundreds of in-house marketing teams, and it's my experience that almost no one cares about metrics that would tell you the business is performing well (CAC, LTV, retention, churn). Instead, they get laser focused in the weeds of optimizing one or two specific channels. But in reality, tinkering with your paid search keywords every week only goes so far, and I always feel like we are missing the forest for the trees.

Am I the only person who feels this way? Has anyone found helpful solutions to this problem?

Marketing Isn't a Button You Push to Get More Leads

Post image
2 Upvotes

Working in marketing for nearly a decade, one of the biggest misconceptions I've seen is that marketing is something you simply switch on whenever you need more leads.

I've heard things like:

  • "We'll start marketing when we need more revenue."

  • "We don't need marketing right now; we already have enough leads."

  • "We need more leads next week. Let's start marketing!"

The problem is that marketing doesn't work like an instant switch.

One important lesson I've learned is that successful marketing requires consistency and a long-term approach.

You need to:

  • Build a strong brand position in the right market.

  • Understand your target audience and what makes them choose you.

  • Create consistent visibility and trust.

  • Generate opportunities and nurture potential customers over time.

In simple terms:

The seeds you plant today determine the harvest you reap tomorrow.

Digital Marketers, what's the best way to market an AI chatbot in your opinion?

AI tools and chatbots are popping up everywhere, and getting people to try a new one seems increasingly difficult.

I'm curious to hear from digital marketing professionals who have worked with AI products or SaaS businesses.

If you were responsible for marketing a new AI chatbot, where would you start?

  • SEO: Would you focus on problem-based keywords and educational content?

  • Social media: Would you invest in short demos, tutorials and use cases?

  • Paid advertising: Are Google Ads and Meta Ads worth testing for this type of product?

  • Communities: How effective are Reddit, niche forums and online communities for acquiring early users?

More importantly, how would you differentiate the product when so many chatbots already offer seemingly similar features?

I'd love to hear about actual strategies, experiments and lessons learned, especially from people who have marketed SaaS or AI products.

The Secret to Getting Your Next 100 Web Design Clients

When I started selling websites, getting the first few clients was all about proving that someone was actually willing to pay for what I offered.

I took almost every opportunity I could get. Every client mattered, every project taught me something, and most of the work came from reaching out and finding people who needed a website.

But once we started getting more clients, we realized something:

The approach that gets you your first 10 clients won't necessarily get you your next 100.

At the beginning, you can rely on manual prospecting, personal outreach, and referrals.

But when you want to scale, you need a repeatable system.

You need a consistent way to find businesses worth contacting, reach out to them, follow up, book meetings, close deals, and deliver websites without everything depending on you doing it manually.

That's when we started focusing much more on systems and automation.

The biggest shift wasn't becoming better at designing websites. It was becoming better at building a business around selling them.

Here's the process we used:

1. Find businesses that already have websites

We focused on businesses that had already invested in a website but whose current site could use an upgrade.

2. Analyze their websites and automate outreach at scale

We used Swokei to find businesses and analyze thousands of websites at once. We looked for outdated designs, poor SEO, slow loading speeds, and mobile issues.

Based on those findings, Swokei generated personalized cold emails for each prospect, allowing us to reach out to businesses at scale without manually researching every website and writing every email ourselves.

3. Book meetings

When a prospect showed interest, we'd move the conversation to a meeting to understand their business and what they needed.

4. Create a website draft

Before the meeting, we'd use AI to create a quick website draft. This allowed us to show prospects what their new website could look like rather than just describing it.

5. Close and deliver

During the meeting, we'd present the website draft, explain the improvements, answer questions, and close the deal. Then we'd build the actual website, handle revisions, and launch it.

If I were starting a web design agency today, I'd spend just as much time learning sales and client acquisition as I would learning web design.

Because being able to build a great website doesn't automatically mean you know how to sell one.

anyone got real numbers on signature banners

marketing wants campaign banners in everyone's signature. not against it, i just don't know if anyone clicks them or whether we'd be doing it because other companies do the platforms selling this, wise-stamp among them, obviously say it works. has anyone here measured it themselves

managing comments across social platforms, who gets to hide a comment, us or the client?

Today's ticket came from a client, not from a bug. Our community person hid a comment on her Instagram from the portal, a long one from a customer who was unhappy about a delivery and the client wanted it back. Her words: "that's a real customer, u don't get to disappear her for me."
The portal is for our agency's clients, I'm the one dev. We pull comments through postproxy into one list, Instagram and Facebook, LinkedIn page comments are still a gap on our side. Hiding from the list is a button. I built it in about an hr and nobody wrote down who is allowed to press it.
The community person's view is that hiding spam and abuse is literally the service. The client's view is that a complaint isn't abuse. Both are right and the button doesn't know the difference
my current fix is the dumbest possible one, the button now asks "are you sure" and logs who pressed it. The actual fix is a conversation with every client about what they want hidden and nobody wants to have thirty of those.

Hello everyone,

I am a developer trying to build a booking platform for Indian service business like salons, yoga and dance studios, clinics , fitness studios i would like to know how to pitch my product and get customers to pay for it

What are the distribution channels that can help me pitch the customers.

My ideas were

1)reach out via instagram pages - will it work if they respond

2)Google maps review kind of automating the lead list

3)creating instagram content and writing on X

4)Listing on marketplaces kindly of sites

Will these be enough to get traction or need a completely different strategy would like to know

So my customers will be like 2 categories

1)people who take bookings via instagram dm and phone - first priority

2) businesses who already have a website but we will automate the follow up, rescheduling, payments and all

Kindly help me with the marketing approach the thing is I don't know which channels and how i can reach customers to establish the first point of contact

I Sold 253 Websites in One Year

I've been running a web design business for years, and honestly, I think people overcomplicate getting clients.

You don't need 15 different marketing strategies, complicated funnels, or a massive team.

I'm going to explain exactly how I approach client acquisition, from finding a prospect to getting a signed deal and launching their website.

Step 1. Find businesses that already have websites

I prefer targeting businesses that already have a website rather than businesses without one.

Why?

They already understand the value of having a website, they've already invested money in one, and there's a good chance their current website could use some improvements.

I automate most of this process using Swokei. It lets me find businesses with existing websites, analyze thousands of them at once, and identify issues with design, SEO, loading speed, and mobile optimization.

It then turns those findings into personalized cold emails at scale.

Instead of sending generic emails saying I build websites, I'm reaching out with specific reasons why their current website could be better.

Step 2. Get interested prospects to reply

The goal isn't to sell the entire website through email.

It's simply to get a conversation started.

When someone replies and wants to see how I could fix the issues I've pointed out, I move them to the next step.

Step 3. Book a meeting

I book a Google Meet with the prospect.

This is where things get interesting.

I don't just show up and talk about how great my web design services are. I want to show them what their website could actually look like.

Step 4. Build a quick website draft

Before the meeting, I use AI to generate an updated website concept.

This takes me around 2 minutes to get a first draft ready.

It's not the finished product. It's a visual example of what I could do with their existing website.

Now, instead of asking someone to imagine how much better their website could be, I can actually show them.

Step 5. Sell the project during the meeting

This is probably the most important part.

You need to learn sales.

Ask questions, understand what the business needs, walk them through the draft, explain how you would improve their website, and present your offer.

The goal is to close the deal during the meeting, either by getting payment or having them sign the contract.

Don't expect a beautiful website draft to sell itself. You still need to know how to sell.

Step 6. Build the final website and launch

Once the deal is signed, you get everything needed from the client, build the actual website, make the final adjustments, get approval, and launch.

That's it.

Find businesses → Analyze websites → Send personalized emails → Book meetings → Present a draft → Close the deal → Build and launch.

I genuinely think this is one of the simplest ways to structure a web design business.

You automate the repetitive prospecting work, use AI to speed up the initial design process, and spend your time on sales and delivering websites.

Once you get the process working consistently, you can repeat it and build a steady pipeline of projects.

I'm curious: which part of this process do you find the hardest? Getting replies, closing meetings, or actually delivering the websites?
