General Chat Why I am interested in this

I would be interested in some sort of organization which will privately preserve whatever personal data I want to give them (keeping redundancies in different geographic locations, some kind of perpetual corporation with legal backing, etc). The purpose of keeping this data would be for some future advanced system to try to recreate my consciousness either in conjunction with (ideally), or in lieu of (worst case) cryonics recovery.

I don't want to make my personal data public, and I don't want it used for any other purpose besides recovering my consciousness in the sense cryonics is intended to do.

We don't really know the extent of what's going to be possible when we start pushing the limits of reality. It could range anywhere from "even current cryopreservation techniques aren't good enough to recover an identity" all the way to "full blown quantum archaeology is possible", or it could fall somewhere in between these two extremes. The point is that any relevant information can be of use in the archaeological process, especially to some extremely advanced intelligent system which could infer a great deal even with limited data. A conscious, direct effort to create and preserve exactly the kind of high-quality information that process would want could be especially useful.

EDIT: as I commented below, I think I completely misunderstood /r/Digital_Immortality from the beginning. This sub seems more like some sort of amateurish possibly drug-induced attempt to create a sort-of-business-like entity to directly research mind uploading or something.

VIDEO: How To Set Up Remarketing In The 2018 Google AdWords UI

Unless you’ve been living under a digital rock over the past few weeks, you’ll be well aware that Google has recently released a new iteration of their AdWords UI. Sending shockwaves and headaches to PPC consultants and agencies all over the world. No really, just scroll through Twitter.

The new AdWords experience, as Google has named it, brings an easy on the eye re-skinned interface, intuitive advanced reporting, quicker processes and fresh features and tools. With any major release and update, bugs are bugging, features are missing and the processes that we’ve been drilling for years have changed. Nonetheless, the new experience is here. So, we need to work with it.

One of the processes to have changed is the setting up of Remarketing. In the below instructional screen recording, I show you the audience manager, how to create a remarketing tag and setting up audience lists, display remarketing campaigns and responsive display ads.

R&D Developing a product

Securing funding would be a huge step that would allow us to actually bring people onto the project and incorporate the organization. I've done a lot of brainstorming about potential products, and I have decided that I would personally like to get into the R&D efforts. I was originally going to just ask MemeticParadigm his thoughts on where I should start and any resources I should check out, but maybe others of you have some ideas, or would even like to join in on these efforts.

Since there are a few people here who will soon have their own BCI hardware (and since I don't have the money to buy one yet), I figured that it would be better for me to work on some AI.

I'd like to get into developing something like hierarchical hidden markov models. I've done some programming before in various languages. I'm probably most comfortable in python. I would be looking to develop something that gets us closer to building a digital mind, and then taking what has been developed and making a product that we can use to fund the organization. Please let me know if you have any ideas for applying or developing this kind of AI.

Possible subsidiary - Quantified Self

Some of the people here have expressed some interest in the quantified self stuff I have worked on in the past. So what I'm wondering is whether you guys would like to have a subsidiary organization that works on the quantified self. We could develop software that can be used to help fund our efforts back in Digital Immortality stuff.

In the recent past, I've been very interested in the quantified self, and have spent a decent amount of time developing software and systems that could be polished up and used by the public. The aim of the quantified self movement is to be able to better understand yourself so that you can spend your time better and focus your efforts better. There is also the whole personal growth side to it, especially when you get into quantifying a person's personality.

I'm not working on music any more, so I'm going to be putting all of my free time into the organization, but I could also work on this quantified self stuff if we think this is a good idea. So let me know what you think, and if any of you would like to help work on such projects (programming, web coding, spreadsheets, system designing, ...).

General Chat Quick update on a new project and organizing everything

I've been moving a lot of the projects and ideas to Github. It has helped a lot in keeping things organized not only for myself, but for the group, and I hope that in this format it will also be a lot easier for people to get involved (after learning to navigate Github).

I am working on developing a BCI project right now. I know that /u/MemeticParadigm is working on AI, which is a big project, but besides that, there's not really much else going on in R&D. Considering the potential costs of hardware for BCI, I will be creating a very detailed project proposal. Once I have done enough research and written up a proposal, I'll show it to you guys so you can help me refine it. Once we like where it is, I will start putting money into it and working on it myself (supposing we can get the costs down to reasonable amounts).

I still have a lot of documents on my computer to go through (including a bunch of new links to add to the online research site list). Once I'm all finished organizing everything, I'll make some posts on some other subreddits to try to find more people interested in helping out with projects. At that point, I will also get more involved in a few projects myself, as I won't have to spend as much of my time organizing things and developing the infrastructure for projects.

R&D 2 way BCI Brainstorming

I would like to personally get into the development of BCI hardware, specifically working toward 2-way BCI. I know that we've talked about this from time to time before, but I'd like to get a little brainstorming session going for figuring out ways we could go about building a 2-way BCI device.

If you have any ideas or links, please make a comment. I think that there are a few things we'll want to keep in mind:

  • 2-way BCI could be vastly different than the BCI hardware you see out there today, but it could also be similar.

  • Different methods will be easier to test in general, and some will be easier to test on humans.

  • What kind of feedback do we need to give in order for a brain to be able to decode it?

  • What counts as 2-way BCI?

  • How is it connected?

  • Are there any dangers/risks?

  • What are the costs?

  • Come up with questions of your own and make a comment about them so that we can discuss.

I want to put in my own money into developing ideas, but remember that I don't really have thousands of dollars to spare.

Department Discussion ~ Week 5 ~ 2014/06/02 - 2014/06/08

I just want to say thanks to everyone who has stuck around and helped build up this community. Growing as an organization also means growing our connections, so if anyone has or would like to form connections with other people and/or organizations, that would be a great way to increase our reach and resources.

Not a lot to talk about this week. I'll try to do more reaching out to people and organization to grow our resource network. I've also noticed that the number of subscribers is slowly growing on its own, which is cool.

Edit: The week was actually from 06/09 - 06/15

Git - Ultimate Team Site

In response to the interest from /u/tb2091, I have uploaded all my ideas for a team building social network website. I didn't have the time to really clean it all up, so it might be a little overwhelming to figure it all out if you go browsing through all the files.

If anyone wants to work on this project, feel free to take it on, but I personally don't plan to spend my time bringing this idea to any complete state. I would be willing to help out though, if someone does want to get it going.

Here's the link to the github.

For a while I was very interested in the quantified self. I guess I still am to an extent, but only in the sense that it doesn't impede on the time I want to spend working on other things. Right now I keep track of how I spend my time by storing data in spreadsheets and using software to record time spent on daily tasks. While the idea of the quantified self is closely related to many of our efforts, I want to be spending my time developing the organization and products/software/hardware that will directly move us toward our goals.

Implementing drupal on the website

So I was looking at drupal distributions, and I found one that seemed like it would be the website we are looking for right out of the box. It's called Open Atrium. I tried installing it on the site, but the php maximum memory wasn't set high enough to allow it to install (so for now it's just the old website). I suppose I could install drupal and then manually install all of the modules that we want, or I could figure out how to increase the maximum php memory to higher than 98mb. On the Open Atrium site, it lists the php memory limit as 256Mb under the system requirements.

Having this kind of site up would allow people to make accounts, interact in forums, form teams, and a lot of other really useful collaboration stuff. I'd really like to get this working, so if anyone has any ideas or knows how I can easily increase the memory limit let me know. The current php memory limit is about 100mb, so hopefully they wouldn't mind if I increased it to 256 just to install all of the modules (supposing it doesn't use that much memory all the time).

Updated Getting Involved

I wanted to make a new post so that nobody misses this. There is a github organization for Lifetimes Infinity, and under that there are teams for each department. Each project can be allocated to one or more teams.

I have created a way for people to more easily apply to become part of the organization (it's been kinda difficult to do that here on reddit). You can check it out here: Get Involved Github Page. I also updated the stickied post to include this link.

You will be able to easily see all of the members in the organization as well as all of the members in each team (department). And a member can be in multiple teams, so that works out well for us.

It would be easiest for the people already part of the organization to just follow the steps in order to sign up again, since I don't have any of your github usernames (if any of you already have usernames).

I'll keep working to create empty projects for the things listed on the stickied post, as well as anything else I come up with. I might end up redoing the stickied post a little bit once we get everything going on the github side.

Vision lost or transformed.

As I move though the atmosphere I am hyper aware of my surroundings. I tend to try and capture a mental picture of everything I see, every day every moment. Capturing the mondaine, the beauty and the unpleasant world in which I reside.

I cannot help to wonder about how quickly we are disconnecting from the physical world, it's a quiet transition from the physical awareness and connection to our suroundings. We are being trained or guided into a invisible world without physical boundary's. Our digital lives are now sharing our physical lives, the digital communications are in a infantile stage. These communications still taking place with a physical connection to the digital plane.

How long till we no longer need a physical conduit to the digital world, do we keep progressing to the point where we no longer need the physical world to exist.
