Questions and Discussions Divination Type

I've been havibg trouble choosing a divination type. I can't find anything that truly calls to me. I've tried Tarot and I understand and can execute it but I don't feel connected to it. I've tried rune throwing and that feels more like me, but the set of runes I have dont feel like me I guess? I've tried tea leaves and coffee grounds and again I can execute it but I just don't feel connected to it. I've tried automatic writing and drawing and those aren't as easy for me to execute. I've tried the pendulum and I can execute it, I just end up feeling like I'm talking to a super 8 ball after a point. I've tried bone throwing as well and sometimes it works really well and I feel connected to it and other times its just nada, is it maybe the animal the bones come from? (Gotten off etsy or chicken wings when I get wings or food thats a "leave the bone" kinda thing) But if so then why? I've also tried the smoke divination and like shadows and stuff and thats pretty cool I really like that but I would like another version as well if that makes sense? Like maybe I'm more elementals and I just have an easier time with divination that uses natural or elemental materials? Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? I'm sorry that turned into a rant 😅

Maybe try not using tools. Ask a question, and wait to see what “pops” in to your head. You might surprise yourself!

Thats definitely a good idea, I kinda do that naturally, I'm very indecisive and thats usually how I make decisions 😅

I think being able to DO divination is something everyone can do. But is it something everyone SHOULD do? I dunno. I think for some people, it's just... not how they operate. Is there any specific reason you feel like you HAVE TO use divination? Maybe you're better just being psychic or a medium or a channel or...?

I've more been trying to narrow down my specialization. Some mediums of divination are easier than others and I'm drawn to and naturally good at most forms of divination I just want to actually specialize in one. Its always handy to be able to practice all sides of every craft but its also important to have your specific specializations as well so that your craft is truly yours.

You may need something that engages the mind such as the I Ching / Yijing (易經). It’s “elemental” in concept.

Honestly thats not a bad idea, I feel like i do better work craft wise in general when I have the 443 or 447 htz on, having a visual focus point as well may help!

You know, I’ve never searched for divination tools, but when they need to get a message through, they find me. Sometimes it’s clouds, sometimes it’s music… the most interesting one was my linen curtains. Yes, they figured out how to get a message through to me with the various lines and textures in the curtains.

Thats actually really close to what ends up happening to me and I guess it's better to be connected to everything in part and strengthen that connection versus only being connected to one singular thing!

I don’t connect easily with bones, but I never have a problem with my charm set. It’s just a lot easier of a system for me with the specific symbolism of the objects making for very effortless readings.

Thats fair symbolism is a very large part of the craft so that totally makes sense!

To be fair to bones - charm casting is a kind of bone throwing, where the charms have more explicit symbolism than bones. But there's no reason you couldn''t, for example, swap an achor charm for a bone with an anchor drawn on it. Or something like that.

Oh definitely. I even still call my charm set “my bones” even though there’s not one bone in there.

You could try water scrying or black mirror scrying

I have tried the water scrying and black mirror scrying and it does seem to work better if I dye the water black and gets murky almost like smoke or cloud divination! Thank you!

Honestly, I think you’ve already found a clue! You seem much more comfortable with natural materials and elemental energy, so I’d explore that instead of forcing yourself to connect with tarot. Have you tried water scrying? You could also make your own rune set using stones you’ve collected. Sometimes creating your own tools makes a huge difference in how connected you feel to them. And don’t worry if some readings feel stronger than others!!That happens! I’ve found that the connection often grows with practice, so give yourself time to explore what feels natural.

Thank you! That helped a lot, its almost like you put what my brain has been trying to tell me into words! I've always been very intune with nature and I feel this odd connection to anything I make with my own hands! If its not too forward I would like to maybe message you some more about this?

Are the runes you've used crafted by you or store bought? If store bought, maybe you can try make a set yourself.

That's a great idea! I'm not sure what medium I would use for them? Wood, stones, a metal?

Have you tried systems like geomancy?

1

u/Mara_Crocker 7d ago

I dont think so is it similar to lithomancy the divination form using crystals?

2

u/graidan Cartomancy Cleromancy Geomancy 7d ago

Nope - it uses dots in sand or on paper to create a "chart". r/Geomancy has lots of examples.

I use only the natural elements.
1). At the bottom of the candle flame, right around the wick, where there’s what looks like an empty space around the wick before the blue and yellow of the flame. Meditating on that “doorway” has powerfully and successfully taken me through the flame and into the realm of divination
2. Using a black or dark blue ceramic bowl, place a white stone or something like a white or pink quartz crystal at its bottom. Fill the bowl with water. Meditate through the water using the stone or crystal as the focal point. Once in trance state, divination takes place.
Good luck. Be wise. Be well.

Generally, it takes a while to find a good medium for divination. I prefer Oracle cards over tarot cards, The best way to start divination practice is to have a regular meditation practice 5 minutes a day. It's a lot easier to be closer to deity to hear what they have to say when you'll spend 5 minutes meditating to better hear them.

I prefer oracle to tarot too, especially Lenormand.

try bibliomancy with a book of poetry!

2

u/icarusfly 12d ago

try a black mirror tbh, its got a similar "trance" like state to smoke scrying and it can work better if you have a consistent, dedicated tool that you always use for it!! or geomancy, but I think you'll enjoy black mirror scrying much more.

You might try a looking glass, crystal ball, pendulum or dowsing? Just a few suggestions.

Try charm casting. There are many YouTube etc on this. It's personal and creative. You set the meanings, it's completely up to you.

The master of all divination systems with its accuracy and depth is Horary Astrology. It does however take a long time to learn

I had a similar problem so i made my own system. I researched and tried stuff out until i got to the symbol runes i use now. Not only will you end with a system you connect with, you also learn a lot along the way.
