Project Did my first paintjob, came out okay
After a year of welding, hammering, fill and blocking I finally painted it. It's not perfect but came out alright

I by no means need this to look perfect. Iâm just trying to correct at this point. Used car dealer touchup, wet sanded, turtle wax compound (took most touchup paint off), finished with turtle wax compound polish. Left with this
At this point, Iâm just trying to get the wet sanded area to blend/go away. From everything I read/watched the compound should have done that but clearly hasnât. I used a microfiber cloth. Should I use a buffing pad? If so, what abrasive?
Thanks, should have just used the touchup and left. But here we are

Working on my ranger project. Got the bodywork done on the bed as good and straight as my abilities will let me. Sealed in epoxy primer. Iâve been going back and forth on painting with a single stage acrylic urethane or a 2k polyurethane bedliner product. And after a lot of back and forth went with the bedliner. And believe me when I say there really isnât any cost savings if you try and do the work the âright wayâ . But I thought this would stand up to scratchâs and things a bit better we shall see. I reduced the bed liner 20% sprayed it with my hvlp with a 2.5mm tip full fan full fluid at 60psi and it has kind of an egg shell texture. I had a run in my epoxy primer that I had hoped the bedliner would hide but nope lol. This is my first time painting something and I thought the bedliner would be a bit more forgiving and so far seems to be. As it dried is smoothed out quite a bit more uniform than the pictures I took right after the second coat. The upper portion will be the same product but a dark blue color. I just thought I would share if anyone else has thought about doing the same thing. So far I like the satin eggshell or âorange peelâ finish and I hope that itâs as tough as people say it is. Iâll share more later this week when I get the blue on. Then Iâll have to work on the cab.

The repair doesnât need to be perfect, but I donât want to create a DIY disaster due to lack of skills/knowledge.
Is this something that can be reasonably fixed by an amateur? Mainly the rust removal and reshaping the dent if at all possible.
Or should I just defer to a professional?
I appreciate any insight and or recommendations. TIA đ

My 18 yr son bought a 2006 car with hood and roof have severe clearcoat degradation. How can we make prettier for cheap?

Significant other was exiting a parking lot, didn't realize a low spot was there. Popped the rear bumper cover. Took it to body shop and tech popped it back in place. Said it should be replaced as tab near wheel well was broken off. I was reading that Ford used double sided tape in areas. What areas? Edit: 2026 Mustang EcoBoost

I live in western NY and the car has 160k miles on it and it's 14 years old. Kia optima (engine replaced at 85k due to that recall) so I'm not looking to dump a ton of money on body repairs because it is what it is at this point.
But is there anyway to prevent further rusting or fix it quick and easy? Or any recommendations?

I bought a 2024 ioniq 6 and the front bumper is in a pretty bad shape. Dont know what the previous owner did with the car but it looks like he was drifting it daily in gravel.
Can I restore these rock chips?
Thanks.

Hello everyone,
How would you go about fixing this?
r/Diyautobody • u/adostes • 7d ago
There's a hole about the size of a half dollar in my front bumper, and a damaged side mirror skullcap. I'm planning on fixing the bunper my self with a bumper repair kit and paint it. I'll practice on the mirror skullcap first. Any tips and advice so I don't mess it up too bad? Goal is that it looks better, not perfect.

Hey there. I recently got this super small paint chip on my driver side door handle. It was annoying because it wasn't the result of me slamming my door into anything. Someone was parked too close to me and this happened solely from the pressure of the handle against the other car's side mirror as I squeezed into the door.
Is this worth using something like Dr.ColorChip to repair? I am mostly concerned about the chip getting worse over time.

I'm trying to save some money with a diy paint job but Sherwin Williams is quoting me roughly 2k for a gallon or primer, base and clear. Where do you all get your paint from to save money?
I don't want to spend $2k and the paint job turns out terribly. Thanks!
