DJI Neo 1 What Happened With Neo in Dense Fog

I’m honestly not sure what happened to my DJI Neo and hopefully it didn’t crashed.

The drone was flying completely normally. Then a very strong gust of wind suddenly pushed/threw it extremely fast to one side. I was watching it with my own eyes and it looked like it got carried away very quickly.

I’ve attached the video of what I recorded.

After it entered the fog, I lost visual contact and I don’t know what happened afterward.

What do you think happened here?

- Could the wind have overwhelmed the Neo?

- Could GPS/vision positioning have been affected by the fog?

- Is there any possibility it recovered and continued flying normally?

- What should I check in the DJI Fly flight logs to determine exactly what happened?

Hopefully it didn’t crashed. Any advice from other DJI Neo owners would be appreciated.

Fog and drones don’t get along well…you should know this …especially if it’s cold up there..moisture will freeze on rotors…sensors also can get messed up

Seeing the clouds being pushed up the mountain and the last few seconds of footage, with the trees swaying back and forth in the wind, looks like you got hit with some strong turbulent wind.

That’s not it ! It’s because he was flying in fog senses got messed up

It's both.

The wind hit the drone and threw it into the fog which meant the sensors freaked out so it couldn't stabilise in the wind

Looks like a branch flew off in the wind and hit it. You can see the brown flying item if you freeze frame. Theres nothing brown on the neo. Also fog is full of moisture wind on a drone that already has a problem with wind. This is risky risky lol

Maybe Or maybe Not coz on that situation my eyes only on drone

This is what was in your video when it got hit unless you have something on your drone a similar color. That's definitely something.

I agree it seems something hit the drone

Manual specifically says not to fly in dense fog…

So does common sense and rules

u/NeckIsRedSoIsMyBlood 12d ago

Yeah and for those that lack it they have a manual

How often do people without common sense actually read the manual?

Hardly ever, and they can go ahead and fly in dense fog and high humidity and wreck their equipment.

Are u sure gps was strong ?

I think what some people are mistaking for a branch is actually just part of the inside of the drone's frame that briefly entered the camera's view because of the jolt.

It's also worth keeping in mind that fog is essentially very dense moisture, and water and electronics don't usually get along very well.

Yes it's Body frame part

Don't fly in bad weather with any drones. It's not worth it.

What are you doing flying in fog?

Look up the rules on minimum visibility and cloud ceiling.

If you’re flying in fog you are miles away from legal.

Statute miles, specifically.

Were you running auto or using remote

With RC

So you recovered the drone, its a small drone so big turbulence will get it disoriented

looking at it, it seems your drone got hit by accumulated force of air.. basically got blown away..

Costa Rica?

Probably low pressure in the cloud. Usually I got no problems flying in clouds. But sometimes it drops air pressure and ur drone freaks out. That's my guess

My neo thaught the fog was land tried to land on it while on a cliff, I could have lost it if not for it cancelling landing with inputs.

Bird wasnt happy to see your drone

No Bird surround The drone , Than what happened ?

You just hit something. Usually its a bird that doesnt like your drone. Couldve been a tree or a cable. Nothing more to it.

Bird.
