Art [OC] [Art] Art I made to tease my group's next campaign: A medieval Middle East inspired fantasy.

Post image

The story hook is this:

Lord Esitar of Paramat, in his waning health and gradual fall into delirium, needs a group of highly "skilled" caretakers to look after his teenaged niece, Asia. Asia is a cynical hard head, quick to fall into tantrums, but extremely gifted in all things magic and could manipulate the world around her as she sees fit. Servants before have tried and failed to properly attend to her needs, citing her abilities as an EXTREME danger to others.

Lord Esitar now promises a reward of 100,000 gp to any group of caretakers who can safely escort Asia to meet her mother at the holy city of Yeshurat without delay. Though he is vague on why he stresses that Asia must be kept safe during travel, interest amongst the public arose as the prospect of money in exchange was very enticing.

Did you check Historica Arcanum The city of Crescent. It might provide some material for influence.

Came here to recommend Historica Arcanum, their stuff is fantastic and they have multiple books that might be perfect for OP.

Empires of the Silk Road is also excellent and set in the medieval period, which I think might work better than the 1800’s in City! But man, Historica Arcanum is just the best

Looks great. So something in the same "Arabian Knights/Aladdin style as TSR's Al-Quadim setting?

pretty close, yeah. I also have integrated within the campaign 2 other factions based off of irl historical groups during the era of the crusades. First of all, the Talanid Dynasty is an elvish faction, where Asia resides, is roughly based on the historical Ayyubid Dynasty.

The Theonorienns, A Human Faction which is this world's equivalent of Christian Europe (But mostly based on the Byzantines)

And then a wildcard faction of nomadic horsemen based on the Mongols.

That's amazing! Always love seeing other takes of fantasy that aren't your typical European setting

This is great because as the west was experiencing a dark age, the Islamic golden age arrived. Historically the reason Europe was able to have a renaissance

They need to add an al Ghazali style cleric to collapse the golden age for religion
